Introduction
You thought you could trust them, they’re your allies, your friends. Why didn’t you listen when they said not to trust anybody. You thought that they were trustworthy, they were always so friendly and so kind. They would never do anything to you. Why were you so naive? Why did you have to be chosen? Why did you have to die?
It’s been thirteen years since the end of the Dark Days, the rebellion that started everything. All the thirteen districts of panem rebelled against the Capitol. The Capitol sadly destroyed the rebellion, and district thirteen.
As punishment for the dark days the Hunger Games was created. Twenty-four tributes, one girl and one boy from each district, will be taken to the Capitol to fight in the Hunger Games. They will stay in the Capitol for about two weeks before the game for chariot rides, training, and interviews. The day after the interviews they will be taken to the Arena. In the arena they will fight until the last one stands. The lone victor will be showered with fame and riches, though they’ll never forget the pain experienced during their games.
This year the Capitol are doing an Unlucky 13 like theme, finding old horror movies and stories revolving around the number 13 for ideas. This year will definitely be full of surprises!
The arena is something you’d think would be in one of those scary movies, fitting the unlucky 13 feel. It’s an abandoned hotel, the cornucopia being a pool. In the center of the pool is a circular platform where the weaponry and bags are. On the platform are sprinklers, making the platform wet and increasing chances of sliding and falling.
There is a restaurant, exercise room, check-in lobby, and an empty storage room on the first floor. The restaurant has a full fridge but it’s impossible to know if the food’s poisonous or not.
There are 13 floors in the hotel. There are also 4 stairways and 4 elevators. In the elevators it’s impossible to know what floor you are going to since the buttons are scattered all around the elevator. Each floor has 4 rooms, some rooms have good things such as medicine kits and food, some have bad things such as tracker jackers and poisonous berries.
The Reaping happens first at the Justice Building. The tributes are picked from all of the 12-18 year olds in their district. After the reaping they are taken to the Justice Building for one last word with family, lastly they are taken to the trains to be sent to the Capitol. Next is the Chariots, where they are dressed up and paraded through the streets of the Capitol to the President’s House. Then it’s training, where the tributes are trained in survival and weaponry. The last day of training there will be a private session where tributes show off skills and are given scores off of that. The score may determine if the tribute will get sponsors or not. Then is the interviews, where the tributes try to sell themselves to potential sponsor. Lastly they are sent to the arena.
Mentors are past victors who help train tributes to win. It’s a hard job, realizing there is a 1 to 12 chance of you tribute coming home. Many mentors don’t even care or get too drunk or high to care, but some mentors try to help their tributes, however much pain it brings when they don’t come home.

Tributes are reaped out of the reaping bowl to participate in the games. Career tributes, from districts 1, 2 and 4, are trained for the games before being reaped and usually volunteer. These tributes usually ally together. Other tributes have varying skills depending on their lives, like a district 3 tributes would usually know a lot about technology and an district 11 tribute would know a lot about herbs.
