Olesia Abernack

Olesia prefers the nickname Lea, however, only for those she considers close to her. (Which is basically no one... so nicknames are a no-go.)

Age
Twenty-eight

Status

Human, from New Earth, member of The Resistance

Face Claim

Tatiana Maslany

Color Code
-Teal-

“This isn't relevant.”

Both of which she won't admit to.

||Secrets||[/color]
in such a vast number of people within the Resistance, Olesia has never been close with anyone. Something she hates. However, an honest close relationship is not available in her line of 'work'.

Eye Color

Hazel

Hair

Mostly dark brown, with streaks of blonde littered around her hair. Olesia keeps her hair rather messy and rarely does she brush the tangled waves.

Height & Weight
Olesia stands at 5'4", and weighs roughly 130lbs.

Body Type
Olesia is considered skinny to a point where some would think she barely ever ate food. However, Olesia can pack a punch. Although she appears to be mostly bony, she has muscle to fill out her complexion.

Tattoos or Piercings
No tattoos, but Olesia does have her nose pierced along with her ears. She has her first and second ear piercings as well as a cartilage piercing on the upper portion of her left ear, and her tragus pierced on her right ear.

Scars
Plenty of miscellaneous scars litter her body, however there is a long scar that travels just below her right ear down to her collarbone that is fairly noticeable at a glance. Very few people know about it's cause as Olesia believes the information is irrelevant.

Image
“There's nothing you need to know, seriously.”

Personality
Olesia is a fairly simple person on the outside. She's there to get the job done, and will adjust her personality to those she needs to work with in order to complete tasks. Olesia is a very private person and keeps to herself, rather hating the idea of "sharing feelings". Probably a reason why she's never been able to keep a friend in her life. Everything is strictly business for her. Olesia will react to others with feelings that she simply hides- appearing to be almost emotionless. She's not the best at hiding her anger, annoyance or impatience. With this, Olesia will be blunt when she's not happy about something. She's extremely straightforward with others and tends to come off as a 'little bit too much' at times. However, she couldn't really care what others thought of her, as long as the results of what she does gets her closer to eliminating Tidus. Olesia has contemplated what she would do after Tidus was eliminated, a topic that scares the living hell out of her. She prefers to avoid the topic at all costs, knowing that it will make her uncomfortable and miserable.

“Extremely unnecessary information...ugh.”

History
Olesia doesn't remember much of her upbringing. Not because of conversion, however. Olesia has blocked out the majority of her history as it has always been a sore subject in the first place. It was simply better to just forget it. Aside from that, ever since she has joined the Resistance, Olesia has been focused on one goal and one goal alone. Because of this, she has been unable to keep a real relationship, even if it was just a simple conversation. However, when it comes to tasks and interacting with people, she can put on a rather awkward mask of a person who would actually be interested in that sort of thing. Something she hasn't necessarily managed to perfect though, so for those with a keen eye, it's rather easy to see that Olesia's social skills are much lower than average. Most people take the awkwardness as a nervous habit rather than suspicion. Either way- it has become something that Olesia has been trying to perfect in order to make herself foolproof.
Aside from her awkward and terrible social skills, Olesia has become an extremely good close-combat fighter with the assistance of using two small dirks. She is proficient in close combat without any sorts of weapons, however, she is terrible at long-range fighting. Basically... she couldn't aim anything to save her life. Which is why she makes sure to get up close before the enemy has time to even think about pulling a long-range weapon. If Olesia can get her hands on a handgun of some sort, she won't turn up the opportunity, however anything more than a handgun is completely out of question.

So begins...

Nerves on fire, mind racing, Olesia could practically feel her heartbeat in every square inch of her being. She needed to calm down. And fast. There was only a matter of minutes before she would be setting foot on enemy territory, a place where Olesia had to blend in. One false move, and she was screwed. The resistance would once again be at a loss, and everything that she had ever hoped for would once again be set back another step. Get it together you fucking moron. She groaned to herself as she bit down on the inside of her cheek.

Reaching into the loose satchel of clothes, personal effects, and miscellaneous items that rested on her lap, Olesia pulled free the last bit of medicine she would see from her home planet for a long time. But not that long. It was a small syringe with a clear liquid inside. Flicking the glass and inspecting the medicine with a squint, she tugged the cap off of the needle with a practiced hand. Within seconds she was injecting the substance into the crook of her left elbow, and was already sighing a breath of relief at its affect.

Immediately, she could feel her heart rate already slow to it's natural rate. The tension in every muscle of her being seemed to begin to relax, and Olesia's eyes slowly fell shut as she exhaled another breath of calm. Everything after that breath of solace seemed to happen in slow motion.

Lurching forward at the sudden stop of the ship, the small syringe clattered to the metallic floor, sliding forward and colliding into the white steel wall just in front of her; only a few feet ahead. The ship was small and aside from it's captains and two guards that stood post just within the cockpit, the ship housed barely four passengers comfortably. However, Olesia had the honor of having the space entirely to herself. Figuring that those within the cockpit were watching her, she knew that her nerves were probably something of a normal site to the very few that traveled with them. It would have been more concerning if one was not nervous at all.

As the repercussion of the sudden stop caused Olesia to slam her head back against the metal headrest, she groped the back of her head with a grunt in response. Talk about a shitty landing job. Then again, these fuckers probably haven't had much practice. After Olesia was sure that the ship wasn't going to reel into another direction suddenly, she unbuckled the straps that fell over her shoulders. Running a hand through her hair in order to adjust its appearance, she rose and hoisted her bag over her shoulder. Looking down and eyeing the syringe, Olesia opted for kicking it under the row of seats and out of sight.

Fortunately, walking to the door was only a two-step process. Much less complicated than actually getting in and out of the damn thing. The door was on the ceiling- a terrible engineering idea, at least in her opinion. Not to mention, she had to wait for someone on the outside to open the piece of shit. One of the negative side effects of her injection was that her patience wore thin must faster... or... well, okay maybe that was just because she was more aware of it. But still.

Tapping her foot impatiently as she crossed her arms over her chest, Olesia shook her head enough to toss the tufts of hair from the side of her face backwards. Suddenly, the clicking sounds of the door unlocking left her frozen as she watched the contraption. Within a few moments, the door was pried upward and open; Lamborghini style, leaving her staring up at two bulky men who seemed slightly weary as they gazed down upon her with looks of dismay. Glancing from here to one another and then back at the brunette standing below them, one of them reached down and held out a hand. The other pointed at her bag. Olesia handed her bag up to the open hand reluctantly, keeping her eyes locked on the two beings above her. If anything, the woman appeared unamused and uninterested. In reality, she was just sick of the damned space ship.

At last, Olesia was pulled free from the contraption by the assistance of the two sets of brawny hands. Once balanced and standing on her own two feet, she assessed the not-so-effervescent faces around her. There were at least six more guards than she had anticipated, and knew that she was easily outnumbered immediately. Clearly showing that their trust level was closer to the negatives than anything positive. Noting to herself that she would have to fix it, she nodded at the two men whom helped her free from the pile of metal garbage. "I'll take my bag now, thank you." She spoke evenly with a cold tone in her voice, almost demanding as she eyed the man holding her bag.

However, they didn't budge; instead, they simply walked off with her bag. Great. Letting out a huff of air that expressed slight annoyance, Olesia turned towards the others she had seen standing in her peripherals. Tempted to complain and throw a fuss, she opened her mouth enough to speak. However, it was then that her eyes landed on him. Carlyle Rickett. The first objective. Looking at him for a moment, Olesia knew she had to say something soon before her sudden arrival came off the wrong way. Something she was good at; awkward. Not a common conversation. No. Knowing that most people knew of him on New Earth, Olesia went with the direct, and hopefully, common approach.

"Carlyle, is it?" Olesia asked somewhat politely, dropping her cold tone, as she walked closer to the man. Olesia wasted no time in extending her hand for an introductory shake. Her eyes never left his, but the feel of his hand in hers made her more uncomfortable than the ride here. Inexplicably uncomfortable. She really hated casual social encounters. She was awful at them. "My name... I'm...I wasn't..." She started off in a stamper of words, and out of sheer frustration; jumped to the conclusion. "Olesia. Olesia Abernack." She said firmly before gently jerking her hand away and shoving it in the pocket of her pants.

So much for 'smooth, Olesia, you fucking idiot. She thought to herself as she tried her luck at a small warming smile. However, it looked a lot more like an awkward attempt to cover up her inability to start a conversation.

The Conversioner waited patiently, his gaze never leaving the ship. Two guards moved forward, meaning to open the door to allow those within to exit. He had to admit that he was rather curious about the newcomer. It was not often that someone wanted to join the Emperor. Carlyle watched as the door was opened and each guard performed their own task. Within a few moments, a woman appeared as she was helped out of the small ship.

The guards that stood in front of Carlyle made it so that she could not attack him if that was her true intentions. He was watching her closely as she spoke with the guards closest to her. Likely wanting her things back. There were protocols to follow, however, and she would not be getting her things back for some time. Not until they were gone through to ensure that she did not carry anything with her that would pose a threat. He could see her frustration though he would allow the men to do their job.

The woman then took in those that were in the room and within moments her gaze landed up Carlyle. He nodded to the guards to move aside though he knew that they would stay close. It was easy for him to see the recognition in her gaze and that did not surprise him. Most knew who he was. "Carlyle, is it?" She asked as she moved closer to him. Carlyle tilted his head slightly as if pondering about her before he spoke. "At your service. And you are?" He took her now extended hand, shaking it gently in greeting. Regardless of her intentions, he would treat her as he did everyone else.

"My name... I'm...I wasn't...Olesia. Olesia Abernack." The woman managed to get out and then pulled her hand from his own. A moment later she offered him a small smile and though he suspected that it was more for hiding her awkwardness. He suddenly offered her a smile of his own. One that was as warm as he would offer someone unknown. "It is an honor to meet you, Ms. Abernack." He said kindly, bowing slightly to her in greeting. He rose quickly, his blue gaze never leaving her.

"I fear that I must apologize. Your things shall be returned soon enough. I'm afraid that there are protocols that must be followed. If you would like, I'd be happy to show you to your living quarters." Carlyle did not allow her much time to respond before he had turned and was leading the way from the hanger. The majority of the guards would follow them, making sure to keep an eye on her.

He walked slowly, making sure not to put too much distance between him and the woman. The moment that they were in the halls of the Station, eyes were on them. He ignored them though he found himself wondering if Olesia was doing the same. As they'd been walking for a few moments, they soon came to a door that was near his own. He unlocked it with the code and then moved aside to allow the woman to enter first. He signaled to the guards to wait outside and then followed her in.

The suite that had been given to her was spacious though was smaller than his own. It was tidy, clearly having been prepared for their new guest. What would be unknown to her was that there were cameras that would be watching her every move. It was that way for everyone on board. He remained silent for only a moment longer, allowing her to take in her new living arrangements. "The code for you door should be on the counter." He said softly. "Ms. Abernack, though the Emperor is quite pleased with your decision to join him, he insists upon a few rules. You are to be escorted any time that you are out of your suite. No contact with your homeworld. And..he would like you employed. He has suggested that you can perhaps take a job either in the kitchens or perhaps something else?"

He went silent, allowing her to speak as she wished. Only then did he continue. "Meals are served in the main dining area though you can also have food brought to your suite. There are also multiple areas for recreation if you are so inclined. Is there anything else that I can do for you?" He eyed her, wondering if there was anything else that she needed. He didn't want to be rude but he needed to get to the conversion room. There was only so much that could be done with him absent.

As they made their way into the halls of the station, Olesia realized that this whole mission was going to take a lot longer than her impatient mind had expected. She had a lot of trust to earn before she could even get into the nitty gritty parts of the mission. Olesia heard Carlyle say something about her things, but she had been lost in her mind as he spoke, and only caught the end of his words. Something about her things being returned eventually? Whatever.

As her thoughts wandered from her plans and their delayed process, and focused on her surroundings, she realized that every pair of eyes in their general vicinity was on them- her. God she wanted to just scream at them all. Instead, she opted for giving a few of them rude looks, not that it changed anything; it at least made her feel slightly better. By the time they stopped at a door, Olesia was itching to get away from all of the new faces and stares. She hated crowds, people, people looking at her, the sounds of people, she hated just about anything that had to do with human interaction.

By the time Carlyle opened the door and only the two of them walked into the room, she felt a sudden wave of relief was over herself. She knew she had to be careful no matter what, no matter where she was or if she thought she was alone. She couldn't slip up at any point. Olesia took mental note that the guards didn't come in with them, but took the opportunity to move about the space and take in her new surroundings. Her fingers found themselves running along textures of furniture and linens as she made her way around. Everything was immaculate and orderly, the furniture was smooth like glass, a strange feeling to her.

The sound of his voice made her jump and turn in his direction, "The code for your door should be on the counter." Nodding at him with an awkward smile, she glanced over in the direction of the counter before turning her attention back to him. "Ms. Abernack, though the Emperor is quite pleased with your decision to join him, he insists upon a few rules. You are to be escorted any time that you are out of your suite. No contact with your home-world. And..he would like you employed. He has suggested that you can perhaps take a job either in the kitchens or perhaps something else?"

Olesia couldn't help but to chuckle at the thought of herself working in a kitchen. The whole place would probably burn down with her cooking skills. "Yeah, cooking... about that. Probably not the best idea, unless you want burnt food.. or.. I don't know, a burnt kitchen." She snorted before silencing herself once more. Scratching the back of her head nervously, she watched him as he started to speak again.

"Meals are served in the main dining area though you can also have food brought to your suite. There are also multiple areas for recreation if you are so inclined. Is there anything else that I can do for you?" Blinking a few times, Olesia's mind wandered to the prospect of eating in a dining hall and she almost wanted to barf at the thought. Thank the heavens for dine-in. She thought before nodding at him. "Nah, I'm good. I'll come find you... or... yeah... if I need anything." She said with a small nod before looking around the room once more, simply waiting for the awkwardness to leave the room with him.

Once he was gone, Olesia moved about the room once more, pulling open every drawer and compartment she could find. To her surprise, everything was stocked with whatever she could possibly need. Fucking weird. She cringed to herself as she started pulling clothes free from the drawers. "Jesus, this is like fucking funeral attire..." She whispered to herself as she dropped a shirt back into the drawer. Every piece of clothing was either black, white, grey, or some pathetic shade in-between. Shaking her head, she moved towards the bathroom, finding assortments of things any girl would use. Even eyeliner and mascara. Rolling her eyes a little at everything, she made her way back into the main area and started to pace about the room.

Okay, you fucking idiot, think. What would a normal person do after arriving to their new home on a spaceship? Yeah- cause that sounds normal... She asked herself as she paced around the room, touching furniture and feeling the smooth and unusual textures as she moved about, something she couldn't get over. Seriously, get it together. Normal people would... would what? Who are you kidding Lea? You're not fucking normal. At all! Running a shaky, sweaty hand through her hair, Olesia let out a sigh of anxious air.

Go for a walk... but that means... facing people. Oh dammit, just go! Moving to grab the paper with the code to her room from the counter, she made her way towards the door and tugged it open. First, she noticed the two men standing post outside of her door, and second, she took note of her room number. 1968G. Whatever the numbers and letters meant, she knew there was some method to the housing madness she would eventually figure out.

"Let's go boys." She said sarcastically before walking off in the least populated direction. She noticed them trailing her, and she made sure to stay close to them while she wandered. The first hall was small, but popped them out to a massive corridor that had at least five stories of space to look up into. Balcony walkways lined the walls where they marked each level above them. Like a grand promenade or some shit. Unsure of where she was going, Olesia took a turn down a small hall that led to some elevators off to the side. Fairly uncrowded, Olesia seemed desperate to get away from the large plaza full of shops, food, and people. Pushing the 'up' button and getting into the first available shaft, she looked at the two guards.

"Pick a number." She said, looking at the pair, however, they said nothing and Olesia found herself rolling her eyes. "They could have at least given me fun guards." She muttered in annoyance, pushing the button for the 8th floor. As the elevator opened it's doors once more, Olesia stepped out to find herself on a balcony with a glass retaining wall over-looking something. As she neared it, she was overcome by the view. The spaceship they were on was like a floating city. And she was merely an ant within it. Her eyes found themselves looking down into the crowds of people below, all of them so far below looked like a sea of humans wandering aimlessly around a courtyard of some sort. A farmer's market? A mall? Who knows. All Olesia knew, is one would't find her dead there.

Staring in amazement, Olesia felt almost nauseous at the sight. Turning and making her way down along the balcony, she rounded a bend to find herself overlooking what appeared to be an entire simulated beach area, waves and surfers included. Immediately, she turned back the other way, overwhelmed even more. "Jesus, does the ship ever end?!" She whined as she walked passed the elevators and down another corridor. There were barely any people in this area, and the walls were no longer clear glass. They were back to their plain white curved walls. Checking over her shoulder, she noticed both of her guards were still with her, only a step or two behind.

As she continued down the hall, Olesia noticed a peculiar plaque on a wall next to a large set of steel double doors. La Galleria. Walking up to the doors, she reached for a handle and tugged the door open only to be greeted by sheer darkness. Glancing back at her guards for some sort of reassurance, and receiving none, she rolled her eyes before stepping inside and hugging the walls to guide her way. Once the doors closed behind them, Olesia was greeted by a sight she could not describe.

Before her, down rows and rows of stadium style benches that were simple carpeted concrete steps, rested a three to four story tall glass wall that looked out into the universe. Galaxies, stars, planets, and everything of the sort was before her. Sliding down the wall she had been using for guidance, Olesia sat, staring out into the emptiness in amazement. Only a few minutes later, her eyes seemed to adjust and she found both guards were seated as well, staring in awe. Looking down amongst all the seat below her, she found few people scattered amongst the space. For such a beautiful sight, it didn't seem to be a popular place for people to go. Good. Those fuckers don't know where the good spots are. She thought with a small smirk as she leaned her head back against the wall.

Mindless staring led to her fiddling with the small necklace around her neck, a habit she seemed to pick up when she was younger and was in a completely calm state of mind. A rare, but occasionally occurring feeling that washed over her. This time, she could only assume it was because of a mixture of exhaustion and being overwhelmed by the sights and events of the day. The amount of time she found herself seated before the universe seemed to lose itself within the stars that slowly passed by.

Carlyle waited patiently for the woman to speak. Though he was in a hurry, he didn't want to be rude to her. She hadn't deserved such a thing from him. "Nah, I'm good. I'll come find you... or... yeah... if I need anything." The man nodded slightly to her. "Very well, Ms. Abernack. I shall leave you be. Until next we meet." And with that, the Conversioner turned and left the suite. It was only as the door shut behind him that Carlyle turned to the guard that was on his right. "Make sure that you stay with her. No matter what. By order of Tidus she is not to be left alone when she is out of her suite. You are to report anything out of the ordinary to me immediately. Is that understood?" Both guards nodded before standing at alert, as if they were ready for anything to happen in that moment.

He knew that it was all an act. They would go back to slouching about the moment he was out of sight. Regardless, the man turned and headed away from the newcomer and her guards. Carlyle set about in a rather fast pace, heading through the corridors as if he was running quite late for something. Most of those that resided on the space station was used to seeing the Conversioner moving about in such a fashion. He always seemed to be on the go and anymore most ignored him. He weaved through several corridors and completely avoided the few that had full out views of the space around them. His fear of heights always seemed to get the best of him. There were rooms that he'd only glimpsed of for that very reason.

At last, Carlyle reached his destination. The conversion room was quite large and guarded by two guards at the door. No one entered unless they had clearance and that was hard to gain as Tidus did not allow for just anyone to observe the process. The machine that Carlyle had built so long ago was the main part of the large room. The machine itself was dark, the gears making loud noises as if telling the story of all those who had been converted to Tidus's cause. There was an opening that allowed for beings to be pulled through by mechanical arms. Arms that could not be broken free of. Even as Carlyle entered the room, there was a group of beings standing with guards, awaiting their turn.

The Conversioner stepped up to the control panel that was located above the machine, located in such a way that he could easily oversee the process. Carlyle keyed in his code and then was approved via an eye scan. The machines first set of arms moved out slowly, towards the first man that stood. He fought, trying to back away from the machine but the guard held him steady. He was taken up, lifted off of the ground and slowly pulled into the machine. As the man moved into the machine, a set of needles(one on each side of the neck), moved closer and closer to the man. As they punctured his skin, he screamed. Carlyle ignored the man, quickly typing in what the man needed to do..to feel. He'd long since learned to ignore those that he converted. It was hard..but in the end he had a job to do.

By the time the man was released out of the machine on the other side, he was the perfect follower of Tidus. Two guards stood waiting, one speaking to him...no doubt telling him where to go to next. It would be this way for all those waiting down below. Carlyle was able to done with three of the twenty people that he had to convert before he received a message from one of the men that was guarding their new guest. The message was short and to the point. The woman had made her way to the Gallery, a place forbidden to those of lower ranking. Carlyle sighed before pushing a button that would allow him to speak to those below. "I'm afraid that we'll have to pause for a bit. I'm needed somewhere else at the moment. We can resume later. I'll contact you. Take them back to the holding block."

The guards did as they were told and Carlyle was quick to move from his room. He moved quickly. He didn't need Tidus hearing that the woman had already found her way into a restricted area within only a short of having been on the station. He sighed as he began the walk to where the woman was. As before, he was forced to take a slightly longer route than most would take. Just so that he wouldn't have to see the true location of their station. As he walked, Carlyle found himself wondering about the woman. It was his job to make sure that she wasn't a threat to their cause. Yet, he was still unsure. She was a bit odd..but he chalked that up to her normal mannerisms. He couldn't say that she posed a threat...yet.

At last, he arrived at his destination. Carlyle opened the door quietly and moved within the room. He silently cursed at his luck. He looked down the rows, looking for the woman. It didn't take him long to spot her with her small group that was ordered to follow her on the other side of the wall. The Conversioner slolwy made his way towards her, trying his best not to look about the room or out into the universe. He was able to reach them with fairly good luck, the man coming to a stop just beside of the woman. "Ms. Abernack, it seems that already you have found yourself in a location that you should not be in."

Carlyle was trying to focus on her though was finding it increasingly hard to ignore the fact that they were so far up. Normally he was able to ignore it but when he was forced to see it..well..he didn't do nearly as well. "I must insist that we leave at once. This room is reserved for high level clearance, which you do not currently possess. Please..I can show you other rooms that would be to your liking." He was sure that his nervousness was showing through. He was terrible at hiding it any time he had to deal with heights. He began fidgeting slightly, picking on one of his nails without even realizing that he was doing it. "Come..I will not ask again." He was done with the room and he wanted out as quickly as possible. The guards had joined them and Carlyle was already leading the way out of the room. The moment that he was out of that horrid place, he felt as if he could breathe again. He refused to look at the woman until the doors were shut fully once again. He had found himself standing against one of the walls, trying to regulate his breathing. He hated fearing heights and honestly it made no sense. He lived and worked on a space station...he was always high up. It was just something that he couldn't get over.

"Ms. Abernack, it seems that already you have found yourself in a location that you should not be in." His words washed over her with confusion, however, before Olesia could speak, Carlyle continued. "I must insist that we leave at once. This room is reserved for high level clearance, which you do not currently possess. Please..I can show you other rooms that would be to your liking." It was then that Olesia noticed his impatience, something she knew all too well. Wondering why he was acting so oddly, she watched him for a moment. "Come..I will not ask again."

Before she could respond, they were already one their way out of the room. Taking a final glance at the universe beyond the glass before stepping out all the way and letting the door close behind her, Olesia couldn't help but wonder why such a place was off limits. It didn't seem harmful to anyone, or top secret. It simply felt like a place of solace to her. Away from all the fucking people. "Are you okay? You seem sketched out..." Olesia asked as she eyed him. He seemed to be stressed out about something, but she wasn't sure exactly what it was.

Letting Carlyle have a chance to speak before her thoughts changed course, Olesia continued to watch him carefully. Considering the idea that she should probably explain as to why she found herself there, Olesia also recognized that neither of her guards had said anything about it being a restricted area. Besides, wouldn't a restricted area have signs and special keys for entry or something? Shaking the thought from her mind, Olesia eyed the two guards. Although the thoughts were gone, the words were already coming out of her mouth.

"Why didn't either of you bimbos say anything about this being a restricted area? Or pick a damn floor to go to when I asked? Do you two even speak?" She didn't realize her tone was short with them, but she did realize that they could have been intentionally making her look bad. Which, she wasn't surprised about if that was the case. Crossing her arms over her chest, Olesia looked from the two guards back to Carlyle.

"Do they speak?" She asked, pointing at them with the flick of her thumb. Impatient for an answer, embarrassed, and annoyed, Olesia shook her head as if to rid the notion of her question before turning and making her way back towards the elevators. She figured she might as well find somewhere to grab food or... maybe just retreat to her room. She wasn't sure, but she knew she wanted to walk away from the conversation that seemed to be on a slippery slope southward.

Conversations were one thing. Confrontations were another. The awkward in-between crap that was happening just then was what she avoided like the plague. Slowing down to walk at a more reasonable pace, Olesia knew she needed to get her shit together and start socializing like a normal human being. Or at least explain herself for her weirdness. Ew. Make people pity her because she was socially inept? No thanks. But maybe it was necessary with at least Carlyle. She knew she was going to be spending plenty of time with him. She had to clear the air. And with her sudden new understanding of his fear of heights, she mights as well come clean too.

Stopping and looking over the balcony just across from the elevators, Olesia looked at Carlyle and let out a small sigh. "I'm sure you've noticed it already... you know.. my... well, my... awkwardness..." She started, running a hand through her hair and looking back down at the crowds of people. "Let's just say... I'm working on my social skills. I don't do the whole 'friends' thing, or people in general. It's just not my thing." She said with a shrug as she refused to look back at the blonde man. This was not happening... she was not admitting her pansy ass social skills... Fucking-A.

"Are you okay? You seem sketched out..." Olesia asked him, pulling Carlyle's attention to her and slightly away from the building panic that he'd been feeling in the room. His gaze found her and he was quick to answer her. "I'll be fine in a few moments. I've got a terrible fear of heights. I usually avoid any of the open viewing areas." He normally didn't hide his fear and he saw no reason to do so with this woman. He was fully aware of her watching him closely and he simply eyed her right back.

The woman soon enough turned to her guards. "Why didn't either of you bimbos say anything about this being a restricted area? Or pick a damn floor to go to when I asked? Do you two even speak?" Her tone was rather short, causing Carlyle to inwardly smile. He was not surprised that the men were refusing to speak to her. She was one of the few that were not currently under the Conversion. Knowing that likely frightened them. There was no telling what she could be up to.

She was quick to turn her attention back to him. "Do they speak?" She asked him. Carlyle nodded his head slightly. "They do..as far as I'm aware.." Olesia was walking away as he'd tried to answer her. The guards moved, following after her. Carlyle waited for a moment before he slowly headed in the same direction that Olesia had walked off in. He was in no hurry, deciding that he would allow the woman to do as she pleased for the time being.

He caught up with her a few moments later and the woman was suddenly looking at him. I'm sure you've noticed it already... you know.. my... well, my... awkwardness...Let's just say... I'm working on my social skills. I don't do the whole 'friends' thing, or people in general. It's just not my thing." Carlyle came to a stop just as the woman went silent. He took in her words, allowing them to swim over him. That would certainly explain some things. He noted that she was refusing to look at him now. He suddenly smiled at her gently, something that he did not do often with those aboard the station.

He allowed the silence to span for a few short moments before he spoke. "You know, we all have things that we struggle with. Regardless of where we are from..regardless of our past. All we can do is try to make it through." He paused for a moment before he suddenly waved the guards on their way. "You may not be someone who has friends..but I'm perfectly fine with that. I am the Conversioner and as such there are few who would readily seek my companionship. Allow me to escort you. You needn't even speak if that would make you feel better. At the very least you won't be heading into areas that our Lord Tidus reserves for those he favors. You should watch yourself, Ms. Abernack."

Carlyle allowed Olesia to answer him if she wished it before he continued. "Perhaps we could stop to get something to eat and then we can venture about to a few of the more secluded areas?" He was trying to allow her to still choose what she wanted to do. He couldn't begin to comprehend how hard it was for her to socialize with people. It was a strange thought to him. Being second to Tidus, Carlyle was someone who more often than not was giving speeches and such for his Emperor. Trying to save smaller worlds from their foolishness. More often than not, however, Tidus would destroy them as he'd down the planet Akodi.

His words, although were true, seemed similar to many lectures she had received many times before. Internally, she rolled her eyes and mocked his words, however, on the outside she remained composed. Olesia knew damn well that her social inability was something she needed to get over, but the way she saw it was that she didn't really ever need to talk to people again after this mission. So why bother?

You should watch yourself, Ms. Abernack. Olesia mocked in her head, nodding in response to his words. "I really didn't mean to go there, I was... just trying to get away from all of the people. Had Thing 1 and Thing 2 decided to tell me, I wouldn't have gone." She remarked as politely as her sassiness would allow. Olesia knew she couldn't be polite without being painfully blunt.

"Perhaps we could stop to get something to eat and then we can venture about to a few of the more secluded areas?" It was then that Olesia noticed the guards were no longer with them. Interesting. Does this mean he's comfortable around me? No, you fucking idiot, there's probably eyes everywhere. Turning her attention to look at him, Olesia saw the smile that seemed to have been resting on his face for quite some time. A weird gesture that humans seemed to have, one she didn't really care for. Staring at him with a blank expression in response, Olesia nodded a little.

Before she responded, however, Olesia looked down amongst the masses of people once more, watching the crowds move like schools of fish lost in a deep sea. How pathetic, the way people conform in such a manner. The way they let technology and social stigmas and cultural bullshit drag them around. She hated it. It was disgusting how people acted like nagging babies for attention. Letting out a soft sigh, Olesia stepped back once more, looking at Carlyle.

"Secluded places sound great. Food... in public... I'll pass." She said with a partially rough pat on his shoulder before gesturing an open arm towards the elevators. The contact, although very short, gave her the same weird feeling she had received the first time she had touched him. Without realizing, the expression on her face turned to show that the unfamiliar sensation of human touch was definitely weirding her out. However, the dark haired woman was quick to recover. "Shall we? Her words were finally coming together more when she spoke to him. Olesia figured it was because he accepted her with her, even with her lacking skills in the social department.

Olesia didn't return the smile though it didn't deter Carlyle. He simply continued to watch her, waiting for her answer. As he waited, he took the time to truly look at her. She was definitely different. Most of the women that were on the station were more...polished looking than she was. However, Carlyle found that he did not mind. It was as if just looking at her was like taking a breath of fresh air. It was a nice change, even if it would more than likely not last. Olesia sighed, pulling Carlyle out of his thoughts. Her gaze had returned to him. "Secluded places sound great. Food... in public... I'll pass." She said, patting his shoulder a bit rougher than was necessary.

The Conversioner nodded simply, moving towards the elevators. He'd noted the expression on her face though had chosen not to comment on it. He suspected that she was simply not used to interacting at all with others and so believed that had something to do with it. "Shall we?" She asked and Carlyle smiled once again. "We shall." He said, following her onto the elevator that had opened. The door shut behind them and before any of the numbers on the flat panel could be pressed, a female voice sounded within the compartment.

"Welcome, Conversioner. Welcome, Olesia Abernack. Shall I take you to the Conversion Hall?" It was the smart computer that Tidus had installed over the past few years. It was helpful though at times it would say things that just made the situation worse. "That won't be necessary. We'll be going to the rec floor. Thank you." A short pause and then the computer was answering Carlyle. "Very well. Rec floor in...10 floors. Please stand by." It was easy for Carlyle to tell that the computer had wanted them to go to the Hall. However, he had no intentions of taking Olesia there any time soon unless it was proven that she needed the Conversion.

The ride to the tenth floor seemed to take forever. The Conversioner was silent, trying not to force a conversation with the woman at his side. It was only as the computer's voice sounded that Carlyle moved. "Rec floor, as requested, Conversioner. Have a wonderful day." The door opened and Carlyle waited for Olesia to exit first. He followed her, then moved next to her. They would need to pass through two rooms however..one of them had a view of space and so Carlyle would take the longer route which would lead around the opposite way. "This way." He said simply, heading off in the direction that they needed to go in.

The rec floor wasn't as packed as it usually was. Though Carlyle paid little mind to this. He was more concerned with making sure that he was nowhere near the open viewing area. "There is a shorter route to our destination..however I'm afraid that I don't go that way. It's down that way." He said, pointing in the opposite direction. He didn't want her to learn the longer route if she wanted to go on her own. There was no need for it. He led the way through three different rooms, each with different activities to do. The last one that they came to was an artificial garden of sorts. It didn't have the view of space but instead that of changing scenery from Old Earth.

"There are few that come here as it does not offer the view that they prefer. New Earth is preferred over the Old. However, I find the old world much nicer than the New." He turned to her then, watching her. He was unsure if she would even care for the garden but it would be her best chance at avoiding others.

Once inside the elevator, Olesia was startled at the sound of the voice. Blown away by the full-blown conversation, Olesia watched Carlyle handle it with ease. She couldn't help but to grimace in response to how well he handled conversation. Even with just a simple computer. She envied him for it. Conversion Hall... well shit. Borderline fucked up, okay. Although the words creeped her out, part of her wanted to see it. Wanted to see the process. What Carlyle had to do to convert someone. Maybe, she could ask? Not a question for the first day, don't even try it! I swear, Lea.

Olesia made sure to take note of the floor they were going to. Recreation. Once they were out of the elevator and on their way once more, Carlyle mentioned to her about the shorter route. However, she nodded in response and followed him. Understanding that his fear was similar to her own that it was something that, if avoidable, should be avoided. Of course, his fear was slightly more reasonable than her own. Well... for the most part. Olesia knew her inability to talk to people had a reason. A very big reason. However, that reason has proven irrelevant time and time again. Unnecessary information, now. It wasn't like if anyone knew it would solve her problem, so what was the bother in trying?

As they made their way through rooms and down halls, Olesia made sure to take note of where they were headed and how to get around from where they came. Mental mapping was painfully important, but fortunately it was something she was good at. When they reached the room that seemed to be the one Carlyle wanted to show her, she was fairly impressed by the room. Old Earth. Similar to her own home.

"There are few that come here as it does not offer the view that they prefer. New Earth is preferred over the Old. However, I find the old world much nicer than the New." Fucking bastard. Moving to turn her face away, Olesia forced herself not to make a comment about his vein words in regards to her home. She did appreciate, however, that he took her to a room less populated.

The only painful part of this room was that it was too similar to home. It reminded her too much of home, and what she left behind. What she brought with her. What she needed to do. Rather than the sheer calm that La Galleria brought her, Olesia instead felt more uptight and stressed in the presence of the Old Earth room. Fidgeting slightly and glancing around, her eyes finally settled on Carlyle.

Olesia wanted to tell him the truth about the room, how it was just a painful reminder of home and how it made her miss it. But that would be stupid. It would make them question why she volunteered. "It's nice. But not necessarily my area of interest, since it's so similar to my homeworld... it kind of just makes me sick." She said, looking at him dead in the eye as she spoke. "I do appreciate the lack of people, though. She added in an attempt to be polite.

Walking around the room a little more, Olesia paused after a short moment. Finally, she had a question. However, the question was one that would spark up a conversation. She didn't particularly like the idea of asking it, but she needed to get closer to Carlyle somehow. And the sooner the better. "Where is your favorite place to go?" She asked after circling the room a few times, stopping just short of where he stood.

He watched the woman with curiosity as she took in the room. He could tell that she was not nearly as at ease here as she'd been in La Galleria. However, he simply couldn't allow her to be in that room. It wasn't his place to approve such a thing. Perhaps one day the young woman would be able to go there any time that she wished. She would just have to work hard and prove her loyalty to Tidus. "It's nice. But not necessarily my area of interest, since it's so similar to my homeworld... it kind of just makes me sick. I do appreciate the lack of people, though." Olesia said and Carlyle simply nodded in understanding. "We shall just have to keep trying until we find something that suits you, Ms. Abernack." He said evenly.

Olesia continued to walk about the room and Carlyle was unsure as to why she was taking in the room still if it made her sick to look at it. However, he did not question her. The woman did not stop until she was near him, asking him a question. "Where is your favorite place to go?" For a moment, Carlyle simply eyed her. It was very rare that someone asked him anything about himself. In all honesty, it surprised him. After a short moment of silence, he finally spoke. "I have very little time to myself as of late. However, I tend to spend much time in the library when I am able. There are usually many there working on research or the like, however it is rare that anyone will disturb you."

He paused for a moment, his gaze resting on her for only a second before turning. "Perhaps that would suit you better? If you would like we can go there. This time of day there is likely not as many there." Carlyle had not thought that Olesia would have wanted to go there and so had chosen the garden. It seemed that he'd been wrong. If what she said was true, she did not care for New Earth and so the mere sight of something so close to it bothered her. This was one of the few rooms that had such a view. "We can also have the image changed, if you would rather remain here." He suggested as he moved slightly through the room.

Carlyle suddenly turned to her, his gaze steady. "If I may ask, Ms. Abernack..what would interest you most? You must forgive me..I am not used to dealing with those that are not under the Conversion." He was opting for being honest with her. He saw now reason to lie to her. There was something different about her and it intrigued him. Though, he was making sure that she did not know that. It would not be a good thing if anyone were to realize that he held interest in her...regardless of the reason.

"I have very little time to myself as of late. However, I tend to spend much time in the library when I am able. Looking at him for too long simply made her uncomfortable.

"If I may ask, Ms. Abernack..what would interest you most? You must forgive me..I am not used to dealing with those that are not under the Conversion." Nodding at first, Olesia's mind contemplated his words. Dealing with those not under Conversion? Sounds like I'm a fucking child in daycare or some shit. Running a hand through her hair and blinking a few times, Olesia licked her lips just before speaking.

"Olesia. Call me Olesia. You're too formal... it's... weird." Weird? Really? Coming from you of all people, Lea. It was then that she started to fidget. First, with her hair. Twisting it in different directions, pulling it back, putting it down. Then she moved to pace. A habit she had picked up for the times that she wasn't sure how to respond. What would interest me? Fighting...

"Like you said, though. You don't have much time. I don't want to trouble you... you must have better things to do than babysit me. I can just... go to my room. Look for a job... or something." Olesia stalled. She knew it was obvious that she was avoiding the question, which would easily seem rather suspicious. But how was Olesia supposed to bring up that all she really did on New Earth was fight, and... well, get drunk and draw...

"To answer your question, by the way... I like to draw. Well, paint. Okay- I like to draw... with pastels..." She answered before running a hand through her hair yet again. She was getting extremely uncomfortable, to the point where she began to sweat. Refusing to make eye contact once more, she turned her attention to the images. Not really looking at them, Olesia used the distraction to try to calm herself down. He was literally breaking her, just by talking to her. Olesia needed to get it together, and she knew it. If she went on like this... awkward, and anxious all the time, she'd never get anything done. Besides, she'd probably be bagged as a borderline crazy person.

He watched her patiently as she took in his words. "Olesia. Call me Olesia. You're too formal... it's... weird." She said a moment later. He request struck him as odd..at first. This wasn't the first time that he'd been told that he was rather formal. As far back as Carlyle could remember he'd always been that way. However..trying to think on it now..he wasn't quite sure when or why it had started. It was as if there was a blank space where the memory should be. Slightly confusion found its way to his face though it only lasted for a short moment. "As you wish..Olesia." He said simply as his gaze rested on her.

"Like you said, though. You don't have much time. I don't want to trouble you... you must have better things to do than babysit me. I can just... go to my room. Look for a job... or something." There was a pause and for a moment Carlyle thought that she was trying to avoid his question. However, she was soon answering him..nearly quelling any doubt that he'd had a moment before. "To answer your question, by the way... I like to draw. Well, paint. Okay- I like to draw... with pastels..." The woman was no longer looking at him but trying to avoid eye contact. Perhaps he'd pushed her too far too quickly? He'd not meant to. He was just simply trying to speak with her.

"If you are ever seeking something to do, there is an art store in the shopping district which would have everything that you require for drawing. It is not something that I've ever done so I cannot say as to how expensive their things are. However, after acquiring your new profession..perhaps it would do you good to be able to do something that you enjoy. Uprooting your life could not be an easy thing to do." He paused for a moment, allowing her to speak if she wished it though was soon enough continuing. "I will escort you back to your quarters."

He then turned and began the trek back to the elevators. As earlier, Carlyle was silent as he moved through the different rooms. He still didn't have a clear opinion about her and he knew that Tidus would expect word of it before too long. He fought a sigh, not wanting to give away any frustration to the woman that was following him. There were still many eyeing them and still Carlyle ignored them. He tried to tell himself that they were just curious.

As they finally reached the elevators, Carlyle allowed Olesia to enter first before he joined her. As before, the computer spoke to them. "Welcome, Conversioner. Welcome Olesia Abernack. What is your destination?""The ground floor." He said instantly, having to put little thought into it. The elevator was soon moving, taking them to their intended floor. It didn't take long and soon enough they were on the main floor once again. Carlyle easiyly led the way through the housing corridors and to Olesia's door. He then moved out of the way to allow her to enter.

"Here we are. Perhaps I shall see you again soon. Until then, be well." He gave her a slight bow of his head and then turned to leave. The two guards were already standing post and so Carlyle would have nothing to worry about for now. He did have several new recruits that needed to be converted and he really didn't need Tidus asking why it wasn't done in a timely manner.

He spent the remainder of his day doing just that. Each person that was converted, Carlyle had to create a profile for them which could take up to several hours depending on the person. They were then put through the machine and sent to begin their new life on the station. He became immersed in his work..as he usually did. He didn't see Olesia for the rest of the day, missing the evening meal himself due to work.

Carlyle spent the next several days busy with the Conversion machine. Though he'd not had more than a few new recruits, it had been acting up and so he'd been working on getting it fully running once again. He'd given those who normally worked with him the time off until the Machine was up once again. Currently, it was still fairly early in the day and Carlyle was inside of the Machine, welding a few different parts together that had come loose. He was close to being done though and he hoped that his few adjustments would improve a few things as well.

He'd not seen Olesia in that time. He had wanted to...to see how she was settling in. Even Tidus had asked about her one morning though Carlyle had to be honest and inform the Emperor that he'd been unable to observe her while the Machine was down. He knew that he'd have to seek her out soon though currently...fixing the Machine was top on his list. It couldn't stay down.

Suddenly, a voice chimed in loudly. "Conversioner, Olesia Abernack is requesting admittance." Carlyle froze for a moment before moving out of the large Machine. Did she know what room that she was trying to get into? Or was she simply trying to find another secluded area in which to hide? Regardless, he couldn't keep her waiting long. "You may allow her entrance." He said before heading up to the area where the control panel was located. He'd meet her there. Once he reached his destination, Carlyle turned his back to the door just as it hissed open, turning his gaze down to the Machine. He flicked a few buttons on the panel, a diagnostic test beginning while he awaited the woman.

The past few days dragged on rather miserably. Olesia wasn't too happy with her newest job position, however, the woman wasn't going to complain. Especially because it got her practicing her pathetic social skills, as well as discounts on art supplies. She never once imagined she would work retail a day in her life, and after countless reminders from the manager to be nice, and to stay calm, be patient, and her favorite; to smile. The whole thing just made her angry. Day after day.

However, she wasn't complaining too much since she finally managed to go home with some art supplies. Pastels and a sketchbook. She had spent the entire evening drunk and working on her drawing skills. A good night alone... at least Olesia's type of 'good'. Typically, the woman would space out when drawing, and by the time she had filled at least four pages of work, she hadn't realized she was drawing a familiar face over and over. Carlyle's. Multiple angles and views, all of them depicting his electric blue eyes.

For having the first day off in a long few days, Olesia took to wandering once more. However, this time, she found herself with her mind stuck on the damned blonde who made her feel more uncomfortable than large crowds. Earlier in the morning, her things had finally arrived, so it was only fitting that she dressed in one of her more comfortable outifts. Along with it, her phone. Every image and contact on the device was still there, including old text messages from one person. Felix. Taking the opportunity to delete the texts and images of her twin brother, Olesia let out a sigh of annoyance. Why didn't you do that before you got on this stupid ship? You had all that fucking time in the travel pod. Seriously. Now they probably know you have a brother. If they didn't already. Fantastic. Good fucking job.

Gripping the phone tightly out of frustration, Olesia rose. Shoving the damned device into her pocket, she made way for the door. Olesia took to wandering with more hesitation than before, especially since Thing 1 and Thing 2 weren't going to tell her right from wrong. Rolling her eyes at the thought, she started off in a different direction. After some time, Olesia found herself in a peculiar sector, but something caught her eye. Another sign. Conversion Room

Walking up towards the doors, she stared at the sign and door for a few moments. Soon enough she found herself pacing back and forth, as if deciding whether or not to... knock? Was that a thing? Or was some robot going to do all of the work? Next thing she knew, however, the doors were opening. "Welcome, Olesia Abernack. The Conversioner is waiting for you."

"That's just some weird shit." She said in response to the computer before walking into the room with reservation. The first thing she noticed was the machine. And it was the only thing she noticed, because as soon as she laid eyes on it, she froze. Staring at it in wonder, Olesia couldn't even begin to imagine how the damned thing worked. And she wasn't too set on trying to find out. After a moment longer, she made her way closer. Walking up to it as if to inspect it from a different angle. Forgetting that she was even meeting Carlyle, Olesia took the opportunity to step inside of the machine. Looking around in amazement at the machine in its entirety, Olesia found herself more than simply intrigued.

Stepping out after a few more moments, she moved slowly and carefully as if she was trying not to wake a sleeping child. That's when her vision snapped up to the odd sense of someone watching her. It was Carlyle, above. She stopped in place, looking at him with a blank expression as if waiting for a scolding for meddling in places she shouldn't.
