The city is nice, but it has its share of problems. . . . There is crime here like you would find everywhere, ranging from robberies to shoot outs, it happens here. But this city has a little bit of everything, it has culture, malls, a large park. . . . It really isn't a bad place.
Rin's eyes were glue shut, fear and sweat covering her body quickly from a nightmare and the pain of her head from hitting the ground. She had no idea where she landed, and the nightmare was horrid. She didn't know what she was seeing, yet it soon came clear in her nightmare, it was the death of her parents.
Anger flames of fire over came the house, a little girl sitting and watching as people scrambled to put the house out. The parents inside, were being burned alive by a simple accident. The child verison of Rin screamed, over and over, "I didn't mean it! I didn't know!" was all that she could say. Hours passed, the fire had spread quickly, and the firemen had yet to put it out as it burnt other houses.
"Come one lass, wake up." was what Rin heard in her dream, yet she didn't budge. Quickly, Rin's own shadow began to squeeze her body to the ground, breathing becoming harder for Rin. Her thoart was grabbed by part of the shadow, squeezing tightly. Her own shadow was running full of hate, hate for herself.
It began to hurt the blonde, but slowly, Rin's dream world went blank, and she just sat there. The shadows slowly stopped in the real world, but no breath came.
Jude left shortly after all the others. He remained in the shadows of an alley way while they left. Once they were gone he walked home as quickly as he dared without drawing attention to himself. Once home he went into his hidden room and started doing a little snooping. After a short search he found that the owner of the apartment was one Todd Mitchell Douglas. He was completely normal, as far as Jude could see, and seemed to have a great deal of connections with more then one shady character. This concerned Jude. He didn't want to imagine what would happen if the Underwolrd of New Ithaca found their merry band of weirdos. They could be exploited in more ways than one and he was sure it would be all to easy to get them to cooperate, most of them were only kids after all. He quickly did some planning and then got up to make some coffee, it was going to be a LONG night.
First he got online again and looked some things up. Then he walked down the street to his garage, he rented it from a nice family that couldn't afford a car. It was still lightning and thundering but the rain had let up to a drizzle. Once he was safely in his car, a Honda Civic HB 92-95 Type-R, he went to the nearest Lowe's, a good hour long drive. He walked into the brightly lit place and bought some window pane and caulking. After that he went back outside and paid the Hot Dog man who stood outside for 5 hotdogs and two sodas. These he downed all in one go in his car. He then drove back to Mr. Douglas's apartment.
First he made the air solid up to his window, now that he had food in his stomach it was easy enough. After that he made an air pocket around each shard of glass, lifting them out and then sending them flying on a particularly strong gust of wind. Then he replaced the window as fast and as quietly as he could. He didn't think he woke the young man, who was clearly visible sleeping on the couch. By the time he was done about an hour had passed, and surprisingly no one else had. He finished quickly and then walked around to the main door. He took a pen and pad of paper out of his inner jacket and scrawled a quick message.
"I apologize. I was an idiot and I didn't think on what I did, before I did it. I am now in your debt. If ever you need a favor done I will oblige 415-919-6789.
He put this in the mail slot and then went back to his car. After driving home it was near to three in the morning. Jude went to bed on his bed with all of his clothes still on, which hadn't happened in three weeks. He was plagued with dreams of choking to death all through the night.
"Oh, I must of slept here... I kept having nightmares last night. Like Rin fell out of the sky..." Len said, deciding it was just better to get it out of his system. "Oh, and you want to know more elemental users, correct?" Len asked, looking at Sunny as her put his shoes on. "You've just met one. Rin, she has the powers over shadows." Len said, rubbing his eyes as his scar was visable since he still didn't have a shirt on.
Mitch sneezed himself awake. His head was still leaned back over the couch and he opened his eyes to stare at the ceiling. The events of the last night flooded back through his mind. Jolted his head down quickly to look at the window, then let out a sigh of relief. I guess it really was a dream. He let out a soft laugh. I need to lay off the food before….. He turned his head to see the rest of his apartment. “Oh.“ Mitch sat there for a moment and surveyed the damage. The place was a mess, well, worse than it usually was. Clothes that had been in relatively ordered piles were now strung about the place, there were some ripped scraps of clothing on the floor next to a now especially nasty looking bag of melted peas that were soaking into the carpet, and to top it all off, the small TV set was knocked off of it’s base and looked to be beyond repair. Mitch sneezed and wiped his nose with his forearm. He looked at the clock, it was already mid-morning.
For a second Mitch just fell back into the couch and stared at the ceiling again. How the hell did the window get fixed? Maybe he had dreamed the part about the asshole in the trench coat, but then what had happened after Sunny had done that crazy fire junk? Wait, maybe he had hallucinated that part and the part about the guy with the glowing eyes. What was the last thing before that had happened? He sat up in a burst of energy. I called 911! He rationalized in his head. I called 911 and everyone left. That’s it. He got up laughing at himself. Glowing eyes, fire from someone’s hands, and whatever that trench coat guy had done. He laughed. I cant believe I came up with that junk. He splashed some water in his face and looked at himself in the mirror. Then a thought entered his mind. Why can’t I remember what happened after I called 911? Mitch frowned at his reflection. He sneezed and the reflection clouded.
A hot shower and a change of clothes later, Mitch decided he could remember later. Maybe he would try when he was cleaning. Now, he needed something to make this cold go away. He grabbed his cell phone and some cash, then headed to the convenience store. After a couple doses of cold suppressants, he picked up some fries for breakfast and made his way back. On the way in, he noticed some mail he had missed before on his way out. He picked it up. Yes! He exclaimed as he turned the newest edition of popular science in his hands he flipped through it quickly. Wait, what’s this. There was a piece of notebook paper lying on the floor under where the magazine had been. He picked it up and read it quickly. His heart skipped a beat and he dropped the magazine to the floor.
No way. Everything from last night had really happened, there was no denying it now. For a moment he just stood there. Then he glanced at the name on the paper again. He glanced at the window, then back to the paper. That sonofabitch broke into my apartment again! He gritted his teeth and prepared to quickly shred the note. Wait, I got a better idea. He thought, grinning and taking out his cell phone. He punched in the numbers from the paper as he continued to grit his teeth. He held the phone up to his ear as it began to ring.
He got off the couch and stretched, his bones cracking. He pulled an annoyed face and glared at the door leading to his bedroom - he didn't have the most comfortable bed in the world but anything was better than that couch. But he couldn't bring himself to let the girl sleep on it - she fell from the sky and didn't have the most pleasant landing. Ramsey didn't want to risk her getting more injuries.
Ramsey decided to check on her, and try to wake her up. She looks school age so she might have to go to one. And knowing his luck, she would blame it on him. Sighing, he walked into the bedroom, where the girl was sprawled on the bed.
"Hey girl, its time to wake up." He said, while he sat down on the edge of the bed. "Come on, don't make this a repeat of yesterday. I ain't carrying you back to yours...wherever that is." He shook her gently.
Rin was safely tucked under the blankets before feeling a shake. "P-please, just a few more moments?" Rin mummbled, she didn't feel like going to the stupid boerding school. "They don't want me there anyway..." Rin mummbled again, her blue, peircing eyes out of the covers and looking at the older man. "They think I'm a monster as it is." Rin added once more, sitting up in the bed now.
"I'm grateful sir. Can I make it up to you?" Rin asked, her blonde hair looking messed up and her blue eyes showing depression. "I'm Rin by the way. I just turned 17 today..." Rin said, yawning as she turned to get out of bed. Her skirt and shirt were ripped and torn with burn marks on them from the lightning that hit her. It would spell choas to thugs and others to hurt her.
After saying that he got up out of his bed and went to his closet. Then he looked to see if his father was still standing at the door. He saw that he wasn't anymore, he picked his outfit and put it on the clothes rack. Walking into the bathroom he turned on the shower and closed the door to the bathroom. After a couple of minutes taking his shower he came out the bathroom dressed and feeling fresh and new.
Wondering how he was going to start his day off, Uruha walked into the kitchen to fix him something to eat and sat down at the couch, turning on the television to something he was satisfied with and ate his morning meal. Looking over at his father who was dressing in his suit and putting new bullets in his gun,"Father watch where you point that thing now." He smiled when he heard his father laugh,"I am a professional at this okay don't worry about where I point this." Laughing again he continued into the kitchen. Uruha smiled again and continued watching television,"So, what are you doing today?" He asked curiously. "I am going on an undercover mission." Uruha nodded and sighed his father must be really tired working all day and some nights, Uruha sometimes wishes his father would have the day off, to spend time with his mother and himself. Shaking his head he finished his food and walked to the kitchen putting his plate in the kitchen, wondering what to do today, and he still felt like.. he was forgetting something.. but, what?
Monster? Rin gets called a monster at their school? she thought, a glum look appearing over her face. Horrible, utterly horrible, Rin’s such a sweet girl, a little hyper, but too nice to be called a monster.
Len woke up, looking around like he was confused, but it seemed like he had his senses with him upon spotting Sunny instead of his little sister. "Oh, I must of slept here... I kept having nightmares last night. Like Rin fell out of the sky..." he mumbled, to this Sunny’s eyes widened and her mouth opened a little bit.
Nightmares about Rin falling from the sky. . . ? How peculiar, and not good, Sunny couldn’t help but have a sense of trepidation fill her when Len said that. Whether or not the boy had dreamt it, something about what he said wasn’t sitting right in her stomach. "Oh, and you want to know more elemental users, correct?" Len’s question caught Sunny’s interest and she looked up and over at him, seeing that he was putting his shoes on, "You've just met one. Rin, she has the powers over shadows."
Looks like Sunny hit the nail on the head with her assumptions; she’d guessed as much last night when she’d seen something like solid darkness taking off into the skies. Sunny stood back to her feet as Len rubbed the drowsiness from his eyes, her arms crossed over her diaphragm. Though she was a diminutive woman, Sunny’s physical company did little to belly the presence she presented when she grew serious. Upon that solemn look overtaking her youthful face, she seemed as a completely different person, like someone who had existed for years, possessing wisdom one her age shouldn’t.
Her shoulders moved as she let out a loud sigh, looking down the hallway. Well, Rin was sort of missing here, and Len didn’t want to go to school . . . considering the events of the previous night, Sunny wasn’t sure if she felt like going herself. Rin needed to be located, and she wasn’t going to make Len look for his sister on his own, that would just be uncouth when they both were so polite toward her. Plus, Len said she was like me, she’s an element user. . . .
Last night, while part of Sunny had been completely ready to abandon all the hope she had of no longer being alone, of finally having found others like herself, today was different. The situation that had been at hand last night had distorted her better sense; it had gotten her to think of herself as little more than a nuisance. She had to do whatever it was to not be alone anymore, Sunny just . . . she couldn’t bear being alone anymore! The solitude was enough to drive her into lunacy. If she didn’t have to be alone anymore, she wasn’t going to be.
With an exhale, Sunny looked back to Len fully ready to say something but her mind went blank from embarrassment when she realized that the boy was still without a shirt. “Ah! I forgot; you gave me your shirt last night! She squeaked, her cheeks going red, taking a step back as she looked at the wrinkled and baggy shirt that she had been wearing all night.
The tear Len had put into the shirt when he’d tried to stop the bleeding from Rin's head wound had only gotten bigger since last night; in the state the shirt was left in though, it was in Sunny’s opinion, unusable. “I’m sorry, I think the tear got worse. . . .” she said quietly, examining it. “I’ll be right back,” With that Sunny darted down the hallway and up a flight of stairs, going to her room. She opened the doors to her closet, and walked inside; since Sunny was the only person living in her apartment, she’d taken the biggest bedroom for herself, meaning she had a rather large walk-in closet at her disposal.
She glanced around at the clothing that was hung on the duel railings, thinking she might have something suitable for Len to borrow from her. “Now I know I’ve bought a couple of guy’s shirts in the past by accident,” she murmured to herself, passing shirts from one side of her hands to the other when she knew they weren’t what she was looking for. “Ah, that’ll do.” She exclaimed with a smile, grabbing a plain, white button up shirt off a hanger, running back down stairs. “Here you go,” she huffed, handing the shirt to Len.
“Now I need to go get ready,” Sunny said, putting her hands on her hips, “I wouldn’t be surprised if you were hungry, feel free to raid the kitchen while I’m doing my morning routine, and if you need to wash your face or something, there’s a half-bathroom down the hall, next to the stairs.” She told him, wandering off back to her room. "I'm coming with you to find Rin." she called back out to him.
Overall, it took her about half-an-hour to do what she needed to, she hadn’t bothered to dry her hair after washing it, so the wet mess was stuffed back into a ponytail while it dried. She’d disposed of Len’s otherwise ruined shirt, and opted for something that was actually hers, and choose to not wear sandals with heels in case she had to run again, she didn’t feel like falling flat on her face today. Stretching, she walked back into the living room, ready to go whenever Len was.
When Thaddeus awoke at precisely 6:30. He moved to his room, after changing into a sweater vest and khakis, and got on his business site. He ran a number of match making sites, he even got a profit from eHarmony, but he ran most of them from one singular master site. This was something only he could enter and was blocked by every firewall that Jude could afford. In fact it took up an entire computer just for that one program and defenses to it. He routed people from all his different websites to each other. So one lady from MatchLover might meet a guy from GFinder. He viewed this as fair and so far only one couple had figured it out, and they had gotten married eventually. He maintained everything and kept most everyone happy. However today he multitasked.
While he was working through hundreds of profiles he also went about going through his list of possible people. He now knew Anne Delacroix, Uruha Harada, and Rin Minozuki were all people like him. However taking more people off the list was challenging. Finally he decided on four people as being abnormal. The three he knew, himself, and a Ramsey Bourne. This Bourne was a waiter at a semi-nice restaurant and was apparently from Britain. This, Jude decided, would be my only shot at having alliances with any of the powerful people. So he left his war room, put on a coat, and started in the direction of Ramsey's home.
It didn't take him long to get there, he didn't live very far from his home, and when he did he collected himself. It was now around 9:00, the sun was shining, and he was sure someone would be up by now. So he buzzed Ramsey's number and hoped for the best! Just then however his drop phone rang. It was the phone that he had given to Anne and Mitch, so hopefully it was Anne. He didn't want to have to handle the boy right now. He pressed Receive and put the phone to his ear, hoping for the best, and expecting the worst.
Mitch heard the other line open. He didn’t wait for anyone to respond before he started. “All right, listen here you asshole!” Mitch was yelling right off the bat, he didn’t even have the phone to his ear. “You’re really starting to fuckin’ piss me off! You break into my god-damned apartment not once, but twice! Then you think I’m gunna be your little bitch-boy and leave a pussy-ass note saying that I can call whenever I need you?! Fuck you! I don’t need no fuckin’ charity, alright motherfucker!? Specially not from your fancy suit wearin’ ass!” He paused for a moment to catch his breath, then started up again. “You really want to do me a favor fucker?! Why don’t you go fuck yourself!” He didn’t wait for a response, his simply shut his phone in the most violent way possible without breaking it. Then he ripped up the note and threw it at the ground.
“Damn that asshole! Comin’ in here like he owns the place!” He exclaimed out loud, still wound up. He looked at the window. His blood started to boil yet again. “Yeah, well fuck yo’ fucking window. I don’t need no shit from you!” He said to the empty apartment and began searching for his baseball bat. He gave up after a few minutes. “God damn it!” He said glancing at the window from across the room like it was mocking him. He rushed over to it and backed up to kick it out.
However when he thrust the bottom of his foot forward, it merely rebounded of the glass. Apparently the window had been an improvement to the last one. “FUCK!” He exclaimed tripping backwards. Somehow he was able to spin around and stop himself from falling. However, he ended up hitting his shin hard on the coffee table in front of the couch. “GAHH!” he brought his left leg up, hopping around while holding his shin in pain. Which led him to trip on one of the many articles of clothing that were still strung around his apartment and he went down like a tree. “SHI..” He was able to get out before he hit the carpet. Luckily he was saved from face injury by landing face down in the now squishy bag of peas that laid on the floor from last night.
He laid there for a couple of seconds. His cell phone began to rang. Mitch sneezed into the nasty bag of peas. Rolled over to lay on his back and let his arms spread out. His cell phone stopped ringing. Mitch sneezed again then sighed. What’s with all this shitty luck? His cell phone began to ring again. He picked it up and brought it to his ear. “WHAT?!” “Damn! Is that how you talk to your favorite uncle?” “Oh, it’s you uncle Rick.” “What the hell Mitchy? You sure as shit don’t sound happy to hear me!” “No, no…” Mitch tried to wipe some of the gunk off of his face. “…I just had a shitty time last night and today ain’t going much better.” “Well, let uncle Rick tell you something that’s gunna cheer you right up. I just got a fresh package that needs delivering and….” Mitch cut him off by sneezing. “I-I don’t think I’m feeling up to it today.” There was a silence on the other end for a moment.
“Well, I guess I’m just gunna have to give this four grand burning a hole in my pocket to somebody else then….” Mitch, who had been rubbing his eyelids with his free hand, moved it away as his eyes shot open. “How much?!” “You heard me Mitchy. Four, grand, straight cash.” Mitch stood up quickly and hurried over to his bathroom. “That’s like ten times what you normally pay!” “Yeah, I know. This one’s special Mitchy, they told me to send somebody I trust with it. And who else would I think of but my favorite nephew? I’ll tell you the details after you get here. Don’t make you gracious uncle wait now, got it?” Mitch had already wiped off his face and was heading down the stairs. “I’m already half way there!” A laugh erupted from the other line. “That’s my favorite nephew, see you when you get here.” The line cut off and Mitch stuffed his cell phone into his pocket as he jumped to the bottom of the stoop and ran down an alleyway. Four grand! Maybe my luck ain’t so bad after all! He thought with a wide grin on his face as he hopped a fence.
*Beep* *Beep* *Beep*
The alarm sounded and Laura sat up, eyes wide open. She had gotten no sleep from last nights storm, just the thought of thunder and lightning kept her awake. Try as she might, she just couldn't go to sleep.
Standing up she went and did her normal school day prep. Shower, dress, eat and then out the door. She would try to not let the lack of sleep effect her. Somehow she would pull it off, she did need sleep just to be a little bit above rude. Maybe doing some shopping first will get up her spirits. Pulling out her map, she followed the lines into the shopping district.
This was where she hoped to live, just buy a lot or empty space in one of the buildings.
Right now she wouldn't have time to buy anything, so she quickly went and looked in the windows. Of course she wouldn't buy anything of these clothes at all, she liked looking at the odd fashions some people make up.
"Yeah they got me but he walked away with a dislocated arm and I think I broke one of his ribs." He watched the people walking throught the streets as he drove past them in the limo. "So where to next."
"Uh next stop is Ithaca Fashion." the driver said.
Azeal let out a sigh he hated going to clothing lines. "Very well." he leaned against the window watching the outside world with a bored face. " Let's get this over with.
Three unnormally large and wide scratches from a dog that was originally attacking Rin out of fright. He remembered it almost as if it was only yesterday, when truth be told, it had been years. He looked over to Sunny, who was blushing at the moment. He laughed a bit at her expression as she told him the tear got bigger.
Len watched Sunny leave to do something, unaware that she was getting him a shirt. When she came back with it, he was a bit in disbelief but didn't say anything. He quietly put it on, watching Sunny go and do her own thing before saying that she was coming to find Rin with him. He let out a huff, sitting on the couch slightly bothered by something.
After thirty minutes, Sunny had come back in a new outfit. Len looked over, not really hiding the act he felt she looked cute. "You should know, Rin is actually really rude, bothersome, annoying, dense, stubborn, and someone who enjoys hitting others. There's only very few she'll be super nice too. Like you and me, though she snaps on me a lot. She must really like you Sunny!" Len said with a smile and laughed a bit, getting up. He started towards the door, opening it up and enjoying the fresh air and breeze he felt from the wind.
(Sorry, still editing, I'm sorta hiding while typing and need to go. Sorry about taking so long. Saying F you to a teach doesn't make em happy though.)
Mitch brought his arm up to look at the watch that now adorned his watch, it was ten forty-seven. Letting his hand fall to his side, he looked back to the street he was walking down. There were people everywhere, but that was regular for this part of Avalon, especially during the day. He was about three fourth’s of the way to his destination at south Avalon mall. He looked down at the black briefcase he was carrying. He grinned in realization that he was getting close to completing this delivery. All during the walk he had been wondering what he was going spend his new found cash surplus on and again his thoughts slipped to the decision. However, this distracted him from the cab that was letting out slightly down the street from him.
A hurried woman stepped out, she was late for a job interview and her head could not be farther from where she was. As she stepped out, she nearly forgot to pay the cabbie. After handing over a few dollars and frantically asking the man to keep the change, she spun around and began walking to the nearest building. This just happened to be when Mitch was walking by, as they collided they were both knocked to the ground. The woman dropped her purse and its contents scattered across the sidewalk. Mitch however, held firmly to the suitcase. “Hey what’s your problem buddy?!” Mitch asked angrily while he rubbed his head. “Oh, no! I’m sorry!” Mitch looked up to see the woman. “Uh, no problem..” he replied. The woman looked at her watch. “Ah! I need to go!” She exclaimed, grabbing for her purse’s contents. Which had spilled across the sidewalk. “Uh, here, let me help you.” Mitch said as he grabbed a few of the items and handed them to her. Though he was little help with just one hand.
The woman quickly finished stuffing the items back in her purse and got up. “Thank you.” She said swiftly before walking quickly off in the direction that Mitch had come from. Wonder why she’s in such a hurry? Mitch though as he watched her scamper away. Then he noticed a small glint at his feet. He pick it up looking at it, then called after her. “Uh, miss you forgot your lip…” Mitch noticed something strange as he trailed off. There was a black SUV a few cars back that was parked next to the curb. The windows were tinted so he couldn’t see inside, but he got a bad feeling when he looked at it. He turned around, dropping the tube of lipstick and continued walking down the street. Why did I get that feeling… He wondered as he walked down the street, now a little more swiftly and paying attention to his surroundings. He wracked his brain, trying to make sense of the feeling.
Wait a sec…. I’ve seen that SUV before! A few blocks back! He suddenly realized. Is it following me?! He glanced back behind him and sure enough, there it was. Although this time it was driving. Shit, shit! This is just what I need! He looked back to the street in front of him. Ok, ok, Mitch. Play it cool. It’s probably just a coincidence. He glanced down at the briefcase in his left hand. Yeah right. Ok, you gotta loose ‘em. But how? If you bolt now, you’ll never make it. They’ve got a car. He looked around, searching for an out. None of the alleyways looked promising. He kept walking. Think Mitch, think! What can you do?! He came to an intersection and looked right. Yes! Lucky! There was construction on the street to the right, and traffic was being obstructed and backed up. He turned an began to walk down that street. Ha, now losing ‘em will be a breeze! He started jogging a little and glanced back. Alright!……oh crap…. The Black SUV was stopped in the traffic behind him, but then he saw the doors open and men in black suits and sunglasses get out. You’ve gotta’ be kidding me! Those guys look straight out of spy movie! He turned his head back to his front and started in a dead out sprint. The men also started running.
Mitch dodged around people as he sprinted down the street. He glanced back, the men weren’t far behind. Crap this ain’t workin’. He darted into an alleyway. As he ran through it he spotted a fence a little ways down, but it wasn’t going to stop him. He jumped on a nearby trashcan and then off a side wall, vaulting over the fence. Rolling out of the landing, he got up and started to run again. Ug, wha…. Suddenly, Mitch found it hard to breath and his legs felt really tired. Damn, of all the days to have a cold. He looked back to see the two men climbing the other side of the fence. Shit…. I’m not gonna’ be able to out run them… Mitch glanced around quickly and spotted a fire escape. That’ll have to do. He jogged over to it and began climbing.
When he got to the top of the building he jogged to the center looking around. “Wha, what the hell! What kind of shitty building is this!?” Save for a few air condition units, the roof was barren. No roof access. Shit, I’m so fucked! He glanced down at the suitcase he was clinging desperately to. Then he heard one of the men begin climbing up onto the roof. He rushed to the other side, peering over. You’ve gotta’ be kidding me! There was a building next to the one he was on, but it was a one story less and there was what looked like a seven or so foot gap between them which went all the way down to another alley. He glanced back to the other side of the building. The one man had just finished getting up onto it and started walking toward him. Mitch glanced at the other building, then gulped. I’m gunna die! He took a few steps toward back from the edge. Spring off the edge, roll when you hit, spring of the edge, roll when you hit…. He sprinted for the edge. Everything sped up for an instant, then he was in the air. He felt like he was flying. Then his feet hit and he rolled a few times before coming to a rest.
He was lying on his back. He brought his hands to his chest and searched across franticly. Then he sat up. “Ha…..ha….ha…ahaha!” he laughed uncontrollably. “I’M ALIVE!” he got up quickly and looked back at the edge of the other building. The man was standing there staring down at him. Mitch grinned “HA! TAKE THAT YOU SPOOK LOOKIN’ MOTHERFUCKERS! YOU CAN’T CATCH ME! I’M TOO AWESOME!” He cupped his hands at his mouth as he yelled at the man. The other man reach the edge and they glanced at each other, frowning. Then one reached for something in his suit. HOLYSHIT! Mitch grabbed the case and scampered to the other side of his roof and down it’s fire escape. By the time the man retrieved the camera and brought it up to take a picture of the boy they were pursuing, he barley had time to see him slip off the roof. Then the other one called in on the radio, but they both knew it would be no use.
On the ground, Mitch had made it a few blocks away before he glanced at his surroundings. Crap, I’m further away now! He glanced down at his watch. It was eleven. Ok, I still have plenty of time. But damn, who were those guys? The obviously wanted the suitcase, but they didn’t look like thugs. Or even regular police…..what’s in this thing? Mitch glanced down at the case again, now it seemed even more ominous. Ok, four grand and an invitation to the Machiavellies. Just get it done and you‘re gunna move up in the world, just like you‘ve been planning. Mitch hurried off toward south Avalon mall, making sure to stick to the back allies and side streets.
