Introduction

Every decade in the queendom of Akasia, a handful of girls turn into witches by crusting up into a cocoon like state and coming out of it in a more mature form. The thing is that their disposition will be the opposite of what they were before. Pure and kind girls turn pure evil and psycho brats turn good. If they are in a solid balance they will barely change. The witch (one of there more good kind) queen of Akasia personally brings those destined to become witches to the capital so she can monitor them and stop them if things turn for the worst.

Setting: A modern fantasy world that has magic, but also mostly modern technology with mana crystals as a power source. Mana crystals offer a nearly endless supply of power as when unused they regain their power over time.

Places: Most places in the roleplay are within the Akasian capital of Ruvos. The city has a population of about 250,000. The country itself is more of an empire that expands an entire small continent (about the size of Australia) and has a total population of about 90 million. The capital is however only the tenth largest city. Most of the landscape is forests and farmland as well as a central mountain range. Ruvos is situated at the foot of these mountains about a two hour train ride from the nearest coast. The nation is not an absolute monarchy, but a parliamentary monarchy where the queen also fulfills the role of president and decides over whether to sign legislation and usually does if they make sense. Places within the city are:

-The witch dorm: A dormitory on palace grounds. It has ten rooms with two beds each, a dining room (however occasionally the queen joins them at lunch or dinner or invites them to the dining room in the palace), a recreation room, a studies room and a living room.

-Royal Academy: A school where the witches to be attend to get an education. Since it is an upper class school, it is an uniformed school. The witches to be are generally treated as outcasts within the school and even wear different uniforms. All for a good reason, if they learn to be angry from time to time, they wont turn out as bad as witches. The normal uniforms are shirts with blue ties, blue jackets and blue skirts, whereas the witches to be wear white and black sailor collar school uniforms with black ties and black lace trimmed shorts. In the summertime the uniforms are sleeveless and have long fingerless gloves. In winter they are long sleeved and have white high collared shirts underneath as well as long thermal leggings and a black hooded robe for outside.

-Palace: A large palace with many rooms, a large dining room, a ballroom, an office and various other rooms. The palace constantly had servants and politicians walking its halls.

-Downtown: Has malls, boutiques, restaurants, arcades etc. Pretty much what every downtown area has. The city also has an urban railway with trains that also connect to other areas within the capital region.

-The Great Wall: A large, high wall surrounds the city and is older than the palace. It is said to be 5000 years old and is manned around the clock with mages, cannons and soldiers with guns. The top is reachable by a long staircase.

-The Proving Grounds: A forested area behind the palace. Here royal family members go to train, but also the witches to be come here for shady things.

Outside the capital:

-Goldshore coastal town: A two hour trip with the high speed train from the capital. Goldshore has beautiful beaches and the royal private beach resort. Due to the royal private beach there is a higher police presence in the town than elsewhere.

-Ausur historical village: The birthplace of the empire and the royal family. It is one of the oldest settlements in the nation being over 6000 years old.

Other info:

Witches: Witches come in good and evil. They are mysteriously chosen by a force to become so and go through a cocoon stage on their 16th birthday and when they emerge from the cocoon, they have an adult form and their alignment is the opposite. It has been tradition for the queen to take these in and make sure they do not turn evil. However this practice has only been that way since the coronation of the witch queen after she overthrew her tyrannical father. Before her reign, it was common practice to kill any children destined to become witches or hide them until they became witches. Children who become witches are exclusively female.

Witches to be: The queen made it mandatory for the witches to be to wear a choker or collar with a tear crystal pendant that changes colors depending on the alignment of the wearer. The type of choker or collar can be chosen freely as long as the pendant is attached. Necklaces are too loose and move too much around for a correct reading and the only alternative is for the crystal to be fused into the forehead which is a painful process and remains permanent.

School uniforms are only required in school and during school related training or non-sports afterschool activities.

(Kay, kay, I know, so no problem ^^)

That explains a lot, wish I’ve been told sooner. – Cole thought, and wondered what exactly Raina’s crystal shown now. Not that it mattered, he got an answer to his question, and talking about Raina now… won’t help much. He was more curious about…

“What about the… witches that are against you, and basically everyone without magic?” I met few, and Raina seems to be in contact with many, though that’s just what I think after seeing… stuff. Make a note to self, and that is - next thing to ask... that young witch.

"Witches who are against me? Witches can think what they want. It only gets serious, if they make an attempt on my life or harm the innocent. Most that have tried to kill me are either dead, cannot use magic anymore or have been turned. Probably the hardest and least violent option is to turn a witch from an enemy into a loyal follower. But usually they were rogues who fell under the radar like the one from the village a few days ago. Killing a witch is really more of a last resort. But those are really just those why decide to actually attack me. Most of those whose take issue with me just avoid me." Ea said. "And what do you mean everyone without magic?"

Lack of realization from Queen’s side left Cole baffled, for a good minute he kept opening, and shutting his mouth, before words came to him.

“I’m… I truly thought you knew, that there is a notable conflict between the witches and those without magic, I mean mostly afar from the capital, but it still exists…” He paused, wondering whether to continue or not.

“… it saddens me to say, but it seems there are many who disagree with you, at least when it comes to treatment of those who do not wield the power your kind does. I’ve seen witches toying with villagers - witches who thought it would be fun to burn a man’s cart, where he stored food or simply things he ought to trade, to make a living.” He decided to leave out things such as Covens, and the opposing factions… maybe nations would be a better word, at least for some.

Ea listened to Cole and said: "That is truly concerning. I take it the people are afraid to speak out against the witches? I am not all seeing, so I cannot know of rogue witches without anyone to report it. I maybe should have then assigned loyal witches to search for the rogue witches. I cannot have them ruin the reputation of other witches. We can discuss this further on our way to the village."

After a brief pause: "I sort of didn't tell the whole truth. We will take a portal to a place where I need to pick something up and from there we take another hours train ride and then the bus. I will expect that Raina will probably head to the village anyways and try to hide nearby as far as I know her."

She headed back towards the palace.

Mayu was waiting at the palace for the queen. She was already dressed in the old style outfit she selected. It was a black bodysuit with a blue kimono-like robe over it and a long blue hooded cloak. The bodysuit had a high collar and a hood she could pull over her face to conceal it during bad weather or in old times during battle. She had black gauntlets that were fingerless.

People weren’t just afraid, they thought that speaking out against the witches would do nothing, or worse – lead to them suffering further. Stupid, it was stupid, that after already being threatened, they were afraid to at least try, but at the same time… it somehow made sense.

One would rather suffer what is known, then worsen the situation, and discover something new. Loyal witches may indeed help, and Cole will certainly remind Queen of their discussion – if she were to forget due to… unexpected events.

When it comes to what she said later…

He wasn’t surprised at the latter thing, that Queen mentioned – small change, is what he expected after Raina’s words. He also agrees with Queen, that Raina may still try to follow them, silently – as an observer most likely.

At the end...

Thoughts were thoughts, and conversation came to an end, all that was left – happened to be tagging along with a Queen.

They arrived at the palace finding Mayu fully garbed standing next to their luggage. "Mayu, you didn't need to wear that now. Well I guess it would beat arriving in modern attire and having to change outside of the village." Ea said. She then went into a nearby room and changed. When she came out, her attire was similar to Mayu's but slightly more grand. A black bodysuit with black gloves and a high collar, a long black furisode style robe with a white underrobe and a white hooded cloak. She also had a black hood she could cover her face with. "When we get to the village, I should cover my face unless in personal audience as it is per tradition." Ea said.

What the two witches wore, was truly elegant, and certainly far superior to anything he could afford, but one thing came to his mind, something that may at least be enough – a simple white robe, with a bit of gold at the sides, and arms. Gift from a… coven that specialized in healing, supposedly they gave it due to how valuable the trade was with him, but he knew well that the reason was much simpler.

It could work, but the sign of hourglass with herbs right beside it at the back, and chest is bit problematic, besides it wasn’t originally meant for men, and so it would be strange to have it. Not to mention the possibility of the sign itself giving wrong impression – as if he was the representative of the said coven.

Maybe I ought…

“Truly astonishing. Now, I understand the need to be an incognito person. Though if I may interrupt the thought… sadly I lack anything that would be elegant enough to accompany you, expect for one robe, that I find inappropriate to use since I have received it from... a troublesome source if I may say so.

Wait, this sounds far too fishy, besides... Ah, the memory! Queen did say that the clothes would be made for us, if we lack them.

(OOC: Sorry I was so sick that I wasnt really able to leave my bed.)

"If you don't find the one you have to be appropriate, I am sure we can quickly find you an outfit you can wear to the ancient village." Ea said. She called two employees over to help out Cole with finding something decent. "I recommend a standard outfit and a cloak. It can get cold in the ancient village, especially at night. The socks also need to keep you warm." Ea said.

Assistance with appropriate clothing would be ideal, and most of all interesting – If not for the queen, he would never know how important it is to have warm clothes when traveling to an ancient village. Which from his personal experience is extremely important, for he would do anything to avoid another unpleasant feeling he once endured during his travels to a colder… place.

“Yes, that… I thank you my queen.” He bowed lightly, still wondering how cold… would his fingers end up being, if he went with what he thought of wearing.

"Just follow my tailor into the other room to get you an outfit. And once you got something fitting, we can set off to the ancient village." Ea said. The tailor opened a door and offered Cole to go ahead.

"Don't worry about us, we are patient. Take your time to find something warm and decent." Ea said.

All of a sudden the Illian king showed up with his diplomats in tow. He was a fat man with smooth facial features. "I hope I am not interrupting. I, king of the Illian isle, am absolutely astonished by your nation and would offer my country to become a vassal to avoid war and in exchange for infrastructure development so that we can have the leasures you have here." The king said.

"Of course, the only conditions are that you as a vassal have a national income tax of 3% as tribute. In exchange, you get stimulus, infrastructure improvements and protection. Is there anything else?" Ea asked.

"If you have one of these so called chain restaurants as a maid cafe, can you maybe have one open in my capital?" The king said.

"I don't think we have a maid cafe chain but I can send someone to help set up a maid cafe in your capital. Now please, we will be leaving for a week for a maturity ceremony. If you wish to discuss further matters we can arrange a meeting." Ea said. The king then answered: "Of course, your highness. I will try to get in contact without within the next three weeks." The king then happily marched away.

(OOC: I just had to insert an earlier non-player character.)

Tailor was a truly helpful person, with a great taste – that is sadly wasted on Cole, or rather… that is what Cole thinks. For Being presented with outfits far more… ceremonial, than what he had ever wore made him feel bit overwhelmed. Well, so overwhelmed, that when his sight rested on a ceremonial white robe, with golden attachments and strange… golden strings coming out of the waist – he picked it.

With the simplest words - This one. - Words that left the poor tailor baffled for a minute or two.

“Oh, that, I believe it shouldn’t be…”

“I’d still like to wear this one.” He interjected, leaving tailor speechless for another minute. But...

Tailor finally nod, refraining from telling that… robe is meant for a priestess. Robe that shouldn’t be even here…
Minutes later he managed to wear the robe, but it was a strange feeling… way to strange. Well, I won’t know how good it is, unless I go out and ask them – and with this thought, he went to ask the Queen and Mayu for an opinion. All while neglecting the protests of the poor tailor, who still could not believe robe meant for priestess somehow fit him.

(Well, about your part... bit unexpected, but kay, and here's a bit of craziness from my side - just for fun, and due to what is written about the character ^^)
