He is stubborn and bullheaded, having a hard time walking away from a challenge when presented. He is a crusader for what he believes is right and you can argue with him until you're blue in the face - he won't change his mind until he has been proven conclusively wrong. It is hard to dissuade him once he has made up his mind to do something too, pressing on in a mission where others have given up and dragging everyone else to the finish line. When he puts his support behind something, he puts his whole heart into it -- including people. There is no one who fights harder than Jared to achieve his goals and protect the people he loves. He drives those who care about him crazy with his bossy over-protectiveness yet his downright dangerous and careless behavior when it comes to himself.
Jared is a bit sullen, though this is not inherently part of his personality and has been created mostly by circumstance. He has lost his pack who have turned his back on him for his past reckless decisions as Beta; everyone else hates him for his mother's "betrayal of the species"; and he has been separated from what little family he has for the past 18 years, his brother not even knowing he exists. In other words, not a whole lot has been going right for Jared for a while and he's grown just a little bitter... But perhaps just a little more understanding and patient too than he was in his youth.

Where all his trouble really began though was with an act of heroics saving a teenage girl Maia from a car wreck by turning her, unbeknownst to anyone. He abandoned her having turned her without consent only to find out months later that she was kidnapped by the assassin's league Wolfsbane Warriors. Already having the motivation between the death of his father by Wolfsbane and believing that revolution was the only way to get his people out of living in the sewers, he mobilized pack to attack the headquarters of Ordoghaz. This was much to the chagrin of Sector 1's Alpha Ian, who in turn set his sights on Jared's mother as a pawn in their political games.
The attack on Ordoghaz was a bust, losing many of of the werewolves they had brought with them and ending with a kidnapping; the only upside being that Jared had rescued his progeny. Ian was enraged by Sector 2's defiance and revealed himself to be the original Alpha Adam, defeating Daryl in battle and subjugating Sector 2 by leveraging Jared's mother against him. If his misfortune couldn't get any worse, Jared's heroics would come to backfire on him once again. Deeply smitten with his progeny but afraid that she might not understand his turning her and the consequences that would entail from the revelation he was her sire, he kept it a secret until he was certain of Maia's feelings were mutual. This was a bad decision and infuriated Maia who went to Sector 1 to pour out her grief to Lauren - in concurrence revealing this volatile piece of information to Adam.
Adam planned to use Jared's little secret against him but before he could, Jared fled the underground realizing the punishment that was about to come down on him. He hid above ground whilst the revolution waged on under Adam's command, then subsequently Conrad's when he was defeated. When the revolution was finally squashed, Jared was found and rounded up into the ghettos along with all the other werewolves. He never reconciled with his progeny who was pretty much through with him over what he had done. He was never certain what happened to his mother, but rumors circulated that she had betrayed Adam to the Wolfsbane Warriors; it wasn't until a year later that Jared confirmed this when his mother covertly came to visit him in the ghettos. She also introduced to him his baby brother Jackson, the unknown son of Adam. After their brief reunion, Jared continued to keep in touch by letter with his mother who lives on the outside with his brother both posing as humans.
His reputation has never quite recovered from the years past and nowadays he keeps a low profile in the ghetto, working as a handyman of middle rank. He tries to never draw too much attention to himself, avoiding getting too close to anyone and never introducing himself if he can help it. He rarely talks to his friends from the past either and lives off of the letters he gets from his mother with updates on how his little brother Jackson is doing.
