XG E N E R A L A P P E A R A N C EKeiji is the kind of person who stands out in a crowd. His unnatural pink hair and flashy sense of style make him unique, and he prefers it this way. Kei is of average height, standing just over 185 centimeters, and he weighs in at an average of 52 kilograms. Kei's body build isn't too muscular, but he can't be considered weak. XX
His pale skin, slender frame, and delicate features give him an approachable appearance and sometimes make him seem much less capable than he is. Keiji has amazing reflexes, and is surprisingly agile, as well as very fast on his feet. He tends to be hyper-aware of his surroundings and it isn't to surprise or sneak up on him, if possible at all. Those who try often get a hand slapped to their face out of pure reflex, though he'll likely apologize after. XX
In terms of style, Kei doesn't really have a specific genre he favors, though it can definitely be said that he enjoys color the most. He can most often be found wearing colorful, badly patterned hooded sweaters underneath his old Senior High school blazer, usually paired with skinny jeans and converse. He doesn't mind wearing professional outfits like suits, but dislikes the limitations they put on his movement (and the seriousness that comes with suits). XX
Keiji doesn't often accessorize, but he does keep a lavender beaded bracelet around his left wrist at all times and almost never leaves home without a pair of headphones. His ears are pierced in many places, though he rarely wears earrings outside of his home. XX

XP E R S O N A L I T Y T R A I T SKeiji can be considered a 'blind optimist'. He tries very hard not to ever let the hardships of the world get to him, especially in knowing that negativity is how Shades are created. His optimism can be both uplifting as well as annoying, especially since it never seems to turn off. Kei doesn't really mind what anyone else thinks about it, and won't stop this "naivety" even if you ask him outright. Social matters have always come easy for Kei, and his charisma as well as his fun-loving nature both make him a nice person to hang out with. He's easy to get along with and comforting to be around. Keiji is also very easy to talk to, and most people will find themselves spilling their darkest secrets to him because they know he's kind. He'd never share what they didn't want others to know. XX
Keiji is very protective of others, and will always stand up for someone in need, whether they be a bullying victim or someone getting harassed on the street. These protective impulses are even stronger and more potent when the person in peril is female or a child, as they make him think of the mother and little sister he lost. Because of his love for fun and games, Kei can sometimes be a bit immature. He dislikes taking things too seriously, even during a battle, and hates having obligations even though he willingly joined the Sorcier Elementaire. He especially dislikes rules or restrictions. Although he is usually all smiles and laughter, Keiji does have his bad days, and every once in a while he'll suffer from rather dramatic mood swings. These swings usually occur after a nightmare or whenever he's too stressed, and are easily soothed. XX

XE L E M E N T A L P O W E R SKeiji is one of the fewer sorcerers with the ability to use three out of the six elements rather than only one. He is on the "positive" side of the elemental spectrum, using Earth, Water, and Light. The "Positive" spectrum refers to the elements that are calmer, gentler, and generally portrayed in a positive light throughout a wide variety of cultures. He is of a rather high rank as a sorcerer. XX
EARTH is Kei's dominant power. He has the ability to manipulate the terrain around him, including dirt, mud, rocks, minerals, and sometimes even metal. He cannot manipulate plants, but can control whether one survives or not by changing the amount of nutrients in the soil around the plant. Kei uses earth magic most. XX
WATER ; He can manipulate water in any form - liquid, solid, or gas - though gases are the most difficult to manipulate. He can absorb water from the air if he has none at the ready and can also pull it from plant matter, though this will kill the plant. Kei is currently experimenting with using his own blood as a source. XXX
LIGHT ; As his least developed power, he can't do much with it in actual battle. Kei is, however, able to harness light to heal injuries or cramps, though anything larger than a cut exhausts him. Kei can use this power too see in the dark, and he can use it to help keep his houseplants alive, even without any sunlight. XX

XH I S T O R I C A L B A C K G R O U N DKeiji's life has been rather average, if you don't count the fact he can see Shades. He was the first-born child to a well-off young couple, Satoshi and Hana. Kei's father worked as a detective and was often gone on cases, while his mother was a writer and worked from home. Since he was always with her, Keiji grew very close to his mother, and almost never left her side, especially after his baby sister Keiko was born. Ever since he could remember, Kei could see the dark creatures that surrounded the world he lived in, and as a child he often 'protected' his mother from them, to which she would laugh and commend him for being so brave. It wasn't until Keiko's birth that Kei realized that his parents couldn't see the creatures, and neither could little Keiko. Keiji was friends with just about everyone he knew, but he wasn't especially close to any particular classmate, and spent most of his time out of school playing with his little sister. When he was seven, a new family moved into the vacant house next door, gaining the interest of both the Akiyama children. Sure enough, the new family also had two children: Hiroku and Miruki. The four became friends and were inseparable. Keiji and Hiroku were the closest in age and grew very close, even more when they realized they could both see Shades. It was with Hiroku's help that Kei realized the Shades' purpose, and that they weren't there to do good. He had never really paid any heed to their presence before and hadn't paid them enough attention to really notice. About two years after the Kazeshima family moved in, Keiji's father died while investigating a string of murders in Kyoto. Kei and his sister had never been very close to their father, since he'd always been gone, but they grieved anyways. Their mother took it the hardest. And, after only a few weeks, both Keiji and Hiroku suddenly took notice of the spider-like Shade that began to follow his mother's every movement. The Shade threw Kei's mother into depression, and she spent all of her time in her bedroom, grieving. Keiji and Keiko continued to go to school, hang out with Hiroku and Miruki, cook meals together - which often failed - and replace the flowers on their father's grave every week. For the most part, they simply continued with their usual routines, worrying for their mother but knowing she was too sad to interact with them. When Keiji was eighteen, his mother committed suicide. Her death took a large toll on Kei, but even more so on his sister, who felt immense rage. She was furious at their mother for leaving them behind. And, to Keiji's horror, the Shade that had killed their mother attached itself to Keiko, feeding off the burning anger she refused to quell. Determined to keep his sister from suffering the same fate as their mother, Kei took it upon himself to destroy the Shade that was causing her so much pain. He attempted to stab it with a kitchen knife while Keiko slept, and of course the creature fought back, using Keiko as a human shield. It was then that Kei's powers awakened, and he managed to destroy the Shade by encasing it in dirt, though not before it gave Keiko a severe head injury. The injury itself erased her memories, leaving only her name. Keiko went to live in an orphanage, and was adopted shortly after, while Keiji was recruited to join the Sorcier Elementaire. There, he was reunited with Hiroku, and after six months of vigorous training, the two friends were paired up and put to work. Two years have passed since then, and Keiji wouldn't give up this life for the world. XXX

XP E R S O N A L R E L A T I O N S H I P SBoth of Keiji's parents are currently deceased, and he has no relationship with his sister other than her simple knowledge that he brings her flowers on her birthday every year. Keiji's most prominent relationship is with Hiroku, his childhood friend and partner for the Sorcier Elementaire. He is incredibly close to Hiroku and trusts him most out of anyone. Kei is still friends with Miruki, Hiroku's little brother, and he thinks of their co-workers Asuka and Miyuki as close acquaintances, not true friends, but not strangers. XX
