G E N E R A L A P P E A R A N C E
Keiji is the kind of person who stands out in a crowd. His unnatural pink hair and flashy sense of style make him unique, and he prefers it this way. Kei is of average height, standing just over 185 centimeters, and he weighs in at an average of 52 kilograms. Kei's body build isn't too muscular, but he can't be considered weak. XX
His pale skin, slender frame, and delicate features give him an approachable appearance and sometimes make him seem much less capable than he is. Keiji has amazing reflexes, and is surprisingly agile, as well as very fast on his feet. He tends to be hyper-aware of his surroundings and it isn't to surprise or sneak up on him, if possible at all. Those who try often get a hand slapped to their face out of pure reflex, though he'll likely apologize after. XX
In terms of style, Kei doesn't really have a specific genre he favors, though it can definitely be said that he enjoys color the most. He can most often be found wearing colorful, badly patterned hooded sweaters underneath his old Senior High school blazer, usually paired with skinny jeans and converse. He doesn't mind wearing professional outfits like suits, but dislikes the limitations they put on his movement (and the seriousness that comes with suits). XX
Keiji doesn't often accessorize, but he does keep a lavender beaded bracelet around his left wrist at all times and almost never leaves home without a pair of headphones. His ears are pierced in many places, though he rarely wears earrings outside of his home. XX

P E R S O N A L I T Y T R A I T S
Keiji can be considered a 'blind optimist'. He tries very hard not to ever let the hardships of the world get to him, especially in knowing that negativity is how Shades are created. His optimism can be both uplifting as well as annoying, especially since it never seems to turn off. Kei doesn't really mind what anyone else thinks about it, and won't stop this "naivety" even if you ask him outright. Social matters have always come easy for Kei, and his charisma as well as his fun-loving nature both make him a nice person to hang out with. He's easy to get along with and comforting to be around. Keiji is also very easy to talk to, and most people will find themselves spilling their darkest secrets to him because they know he's kind. He'd never share what they didn't want others to know. XX
Keiji is very protective of others, and will always stand up for someone in need, whether they be a bullying victim or someone getting harassed on the street. These protective impulses are even stronger and more potent when the person in peril is female or a child, as they make him think of the mother and little sister he lost. Because of his love for fun and games, Kei can sometimes be a bit immature. He dislikes taking things too seriously, even during a battle, and hates having obligations even though he willingly joined the Sorcier Elementaire. He especially dislikes rules or restrictions. Although he is usually all smiles and laughter, Keiji does have his bad days, and every once in a while he'll suffer from rather dramatic mood swings. These swings usually occur after a nightmare or whenever he's too stressed, and are easily soothed. XX

E L E M E N T A L P O W E R S
Keiji is one of the fewer sorcerers with the ability to use three out of the six elements rather than only one. He is on the "positive" side of the elemental spectrum, using Earth, Water, and Light. The "Positive" spectrum refers to the elements that are calmer, gentler, and generally portrayed in a positive light throughout a wide variety of cultures. He is of a rather high rank as a sorcerer. XX
EARTH is Kei's dominant power. He has the ability to manipulate the terrain around him, including dirt, mud, rocks, minerals, and sometimes even metal. He cannot manipulate plants, but can control whether one survives or not by changing the amount of nutrients in the soil around the plant. Kei uses earth magic most. XX
WATER ; He can manipulate water in any form - liquid, solid, or gas - though gases are the most difficult to manipulate. He can absorb water from the air if he has none at the ready and can also pull it from plant matter, though this will kill the plant. Kei is currently experimenting with using his own blood as a source. XXX
LIGHT ; As his least developed power, he can't do much with it in actual battle. Kei is, however, able to harness light to heal injuries or cramps, though anything larger than a cut exhausts him. Kei can use this power too see in the dark, and he can use it to help keep his houseplants alive, even without any sunlight. XX

H I S T O R I C A L B A C K G R O U N D
Keiji's life has been rather average, if you don't count the fact he can see Shades. He was the first-born child to a well-off young couple, Satoshi and Hana. Kei's father worked as a detective and was often gone on cases, while his mother was a writer and worked from home. Since he was always with her, Keiji grew very close to his mother, and almost never left her side, especially after his baby sister Keiko was born. Ever since he could remember, Kei could see the dark creatures that surrounded the world he lived in, and as a child he often 'protected' his mother from them, to which she would laugh and commend him for being so brave. It wasn't until Keiko's birth that Kei realized that his parents couldn't see the creatures, and neither could little Keiko. Keiji was friends with just about everyone he knew, but he wasn't especially close to any particular classmate, and spent most of his time out of school playing with his little sister. When he was seven, a new family moved into the vacant house next door, gaining the interest of both the Akiyama children. Sure enough, the new family also had two children: Hiroku and Miruki. The four became friends and were inseparable. Keiji and Hiroku were the closest in age and grew very close, even more when they realized they could both see Shades. It was with Hiroku's help that Kei realized the Shades' purpose, and that they weren't there to do good. He had never really paid any heed to their presence before and hadn't paid them enough attention to really notice. About two years after the Kazeshima family moved in, Keiji's father died while investigating a string of murders in Kyoto. Kei and his sister had never been very close to their father, since he'd always been gone, but they grieved anyways. Their mother took it the hardest. And, after only a few weeks, both Keiji and Hiroku suddenly took notice of the spider-like Shade that began to follow his mother's every movement. The Shade threw Kei's mother into depression, and she spent all of her time in her bedroom, grieving. Keiji and Keiko continued to go to school, hang out with Hiroku and Miruki, cook meals together - which often failed - and replace the flowers on their father's grave every week. For the most part, they simply continued with their usual routines, worrying for their mother but knowing she was too sad to interact with them. When Keiji was eighteen, his mother committed suicide. Her death took a large toll on Kei, but even more so on his sister, who felt immense rage. She was furious at their mother for leaving them behind. And, to Keiji's horror, the Shade that had killed their mother attached itself to Keiko, feeding off the burning anger she refused to quell. Determined to keep his sister from suffering the same fate as their mother, Kei took it upon himself to destroy the Shade that was causing her so much pain. He attempted to stab it with a kitchen knife while Keiko slept, and of course the creature fought back, using Keiko as a human shield. It was then that Kei's powers awakened, and he managed to destroy the Shade by encasing it in dirt, though not before it gave Keiko a severe head injury. The injury itself erased her memories, leaving only her name. Keiko went to live in an orphanage, and was adopted shortly after, while Keiji was recruited to join the Sorcier Elementaire. There, he was reunited with Hiroku, and after six months of vigorous training, the two friends were paired up and put to work. Two years have passed since then, and Keiji wouldn't give up this life for the world. XXX

Both of Keiji's parents are currently deceased, and he has no relationship with his sister other than her simple knowledge that he brings her flowers on her birthday every year. Keiji's most prominent relationship is with Hiroku, his childhood friend and partner for the Sorcier Elementaire. He is incredibly close to Hiroku and trusts him most out of anyone. Kei is still friends with Miruki, Hiroku's little brother, and he thinks of their co-workers Asuka and Miyuki as close acquaintances, not true friends, but not strangers. XX

In the busy city of Tokyo, Japan, people filled the sidewalks, walking quickly to their destinations. Some spoke on cell phones or held conversations with those they were accompanied by, others stared down at newspapers or concentrated solely on not spilling the cup of coffee in their hands. All of these many people walked through the city without an inkling as to what danger surrounded them. Shades also filled the streets, some attached to people, others wandering aimlessly, searching for a new place to wreak havoc. No one paid them any heed - how could they? No one could actually see the Shades anyway. X
On the outskirts of the city, on an abandoned stretch of road between an older neighborhood and a couple of rice fields, a violent battle was taking place. XX
Keiji ducked as the Shade swung its huge foot at him. This particular Shade held the basic shape of a fox, with a long bushy tail and a set of razor-sharp teeth. It stood several feet taller than him - which was proving to be a major pain in the ass - but seemed to have little sense of how to attack, and was mostly just swinging aimlessly at whatever moved. Kei and Hiroku had already been fighting the Shade for about twenty minutes, and had managed to cut off one of its limbs, as well as causing several large cuts to open up on its side. There were burn marks too, some of its fur singed, though it wasn't too obvious since the creature was already pitch black in color. "If we don't get a good-paying Remnant from this thing, I will personally scold Miyuki-san." XXX
That, of course, was a joke. Kei's lips turned up in an amused smirk as he swung his staff into one of the fox Shade's remaining legs. Tendrils of ice flowed out from where his staff had touched, rendering the limb unable to moved, and with another hit with his staff the tendrils of ice stabbed into the Shade's leg, causing the creature to scream grossly in pain. "Ha! Another point for me!" Unable to support itself on only two legs, the Shade toppled to the ground, and Keiji watched triumphantly as Hiroku landed to final blow. The Shade then evaporate into black dust, leaving a heavy, crimson-colored geode behind. XX
"Hey, that one was a Level Three right? We should be able to get at least ¥10,000 for it." Keiji grinned as he picked up the geode, admiring the color of the protruding crystals despite their origin, and tossed it to Hiroku. The sun was just beginning to set, and in checking the time on his cell phone, Kei was glad to see that it was hardly even eight pm. "Asuka-san's place shouldn't be closed quite yet, right? Why don't we go trade in that Remnant on our way home?" XX

It was such a peaceful and tranquil night, yet they're here, fighting against their sworn enemies, while the rest of Tokyo still lives on, unknowingly of their protectors. The two of them - the so-called Sorcerers living an undercover life with each other, are now standing side by side with each other against the vicious creature that are trying to throw out everything it got to destroy them.

Of course, they lived to their title as some of the most talented and special Sorcerers of the whole Japan division, so this Shade is no match for them when they fight as a team. After a while, they've taken good care of the Shade. The one they were fighting this time is a daemonium vulpes whose level is 3. They've been keeping an eye on this one because it was almost on the verge of devouring its host and reached the next level. It had taken Hiroku ten minutes to extract the seed from the host and another ten minutes fighting it alongside his companion.

As they fought, Keiji joked about how he would scold Miyuki - the Magister of Japan Division, if they aren't getting any good pay after this. "Well, if you want to be trapped in her eternal darkness then go ahead and scold her. I'm pretty sure she would fly from Nagano to here in an instant when she hear that." Hiroku replied with a chuckle as they dodged the Shade's attacks.

After Keiji had dealt a crucial hit which left the Shade incapacitated, Hiroku dashed from behind him with no hesitations. Aiming both of his guns towards the creature, he charged them with air pressure which strengthened them several times. As the air bullets were shot, they exploded the moment they hit the Shade. It was a rather big explosion though, due to the sheer force of the bullets he had shot. But they were fighting in an abandoned storage, so of course, they wouldn't attract any attention.

When the smoke from the explosion wore off, the Shade's remain had completely disappeared, leaving behind only its Remnant crystal. It's amazing how something that brings nothing but despair to human could be turned into something so beautiful after being destroyed. Hiroku caught the Remnant as Keiji threw it to him, and nodded to his question, "It depends on Asuka-san though, he's hard to bargain but luckily he's quite generous so I think we would be able to earn at least 25000 or something."

As they both made their way out of the storage undetected and blended into the endless crowds of people on the street, Keiji suggested they brought the Remnant to Asuka's place to claim their money, "Yeah, it was convenient that we're also in Shibuya district right now so his place shouldn't be to far away. Though I'm not sure whether he would outwardly flirting with us when we are there or not." He shrugged as they both headed to Kannazuki - Asuka's bar.

Hiroku pushed the door open as the bell tingled. Because it was just opening time when they arrived so there aren't many guests. "Well, if it wasn't the famous dream pair? You two certainly are working hard every day, huh?" The person standing behind the counter of the bar spoke up while cleaning the glasses. Just looking at his appearance is enough to tell what kind of a person he is, but amongst the Sorcerers in the division, he was a highly respectful individual, sometimes even more than Miyuki. Not just because he's a Merchant, apparently.

"It couldn't be helped. Tokyo is big while there are only the two of us around. At least we can make a living out of it." Hiroku replied with a smile as both of them sat down at the counter. Asuka gave Keiji a swooning gaze, before turning to Hiroku, "So, what shall you trade today?"

Hiroku handed over the Remnant of the Shade as Asuka examined it from every of its angle with the sharp eye of a professional. He then went on to state its price to be 23500 yens, which seemed to be a good bargain for both of them. The Merchant then gave Hiroku a packet full of money and the first thing he did was to open it and gave it a quick count, before putting it into his pocket.

"I don't think that there are going to be any monsters for you to take care of tonight, so why don't you just stay and have some fun with Asuka-san ~ ?" He leaned himself on the counter and said to both of them, or specifically, Hiroku, in a flirtatious manner, "Especially you, Hiro-chan. Do you know that I've been dying to introduce you to my lovely boys ~?"

"I think I'll pass tonight, thank you." Hiroku sighed. This is just how Asuka would usually tease him ever since he's still a trainee so he'd pretty much gotten used to it. Though he wasn't sure if Keiji was feeling the same.

"Hanging out together again, are you?" Asuka smirked as he straightened himself up, "Oh well, I guess I couldn't separate you two at all. Just be sure to stop by sometime for a drink. I'm always open, especially for cute boys like you two."

"Thanks for the offer. See you again sometimes, Asuka-san." Both of them waved to the Merchant as they walked off the bar. When they're out at the crowded street again, Hiroku shrugged, "Well, that's how he always acts around guys so I know it can be a little irritating. But it wasn't that bad when you've gotten used to it. Plus, he's pretty reliable when we needed him so no hard feeling, 'kay?" Hiroku said with a smile to his partner, "What do you want for dinner tonight?"

Keiji was both grateful and saddened by the lack of guests inside the Kannazuki bar, only because it meant Asuka would be pouring more of his attention onto them - which was either good or bad, considering how you choose to look at the situation. It wasn't until they took their seats at the bar that Kei remembered why he usually waited outside during their trades. He said nothing, instead listening to every word spoken and observing the way Hiroku and Asuka interacted. He frowned slightly at how forward the merchant was being with his best friend, and didn't bother to deny that he was a little bit jealous. XX
As always, Asuka invited the two to spend the night with him, and as always, they denied his offer. Or rather, Hiroku denied his offer while Keiji said nothing and tried to believe the bartender's statement about there being no more Shades for them to defeat, even getting one day off would be a blessing. XX
They both waved to Asuka as they exited the bar, and Kei stretched his arms over his head with a grin. "Man, I swear, its like he acts even more flirtatious with you than his other customers..." Sighing, Kei rolled up his sleeves a bit and shoved his hands into his pockets, walking with the smallest spring in his step. "Well, that's how he always acts around guys so I know it can be a little irritating. But it wasn't that bad when you've gotten used to it. Plus, he's pretty reliable when we needed him so no hard feeling, 'kay?" Keiji nodded in response and returned his friend's smile. "What do you want for dinner tonight?" XXX
"Hm...well we haven't gone for Okanamiyaki in a while, how about that? Or maybe Udon?" After a short discussion, they decided to go for Udon, and headed toward one of the more famous and well-liked Udon shops. Kei chatted excitedly about how cool it'd been that neither of them had sustained any serious injuries - in fact, the only injuries they'd received had been the tiny, now-healed bruise Kei had gotten by accidentally hitting himself in the head with his staff. During their first battle with a Level Three, Kei'd gotten one of his arms broken, though he'd been able to fix it with an hour's use of Light magic. XX
Keiji and Hiroku were regulars at most of the restaurants near their apartment, and they were greeted with familiar smiles as they entered the Udon shop. Kei had never been one to try a lot of new things, so the chef gave him the same extra-spicy soup he always got. The two ate happily, chatting animatedly about anything and everything that came to mind. Kei was fully content in being the more talkative one, after all, it had always been that way between them. XX
After they finished eating, they continued to chat for a little while before heading toward home. "Isn't it kinda cool how we just fought a monster for nearly half an hour in the middle of a busy city, yet we still manage to be as inconspicuous as anyone else living in Tokyo?" Kei said, grinning and staring up at the stars that were slowly starting to appear in the sky. "Do you ever wonder what we'd be doing right now if we'd been born without powers? Maybe we wouldn't have ever even met..." It was something Kei thought about more often than he'd like to admit, although he couldn't say he'd want to have been born different. Even if they spent most of their time fighting 'creepy-ass creatures of evil', he enjoyed every minute of it. "In that case, I prefer this life~" XX
Keiji moved onto a more happy topic as they hiked up the stairs to their apartment. He swung their front door open as dramatically as he could, striding into the apartment with a grin and flopping over onto the couch while murmuring something about home being 'the best place he possibly could think of '. Kei then groaned loudly. "Ugh, I have a vocabulary report due tomorrow..." The only downside to taking college classes online was the fact that it was much easier to get distracted from schoolwork in his own home than in an actual school building. "I haven't even started working on the damn thing yet..." XX

After some while debating on whether they should have okonomiyaki or udon for dinner, they finally decided to stop by their usual udon shop for some dinner. Usually Hiroku would buy some ingredients to make them some dinner as he'd preferred to cook rather than eating out too regularly. Not like it matters though. Because there were only two of them living together and taking into the fact that they have to fight high-level Shades almost everyday, they should have enough money at their disposal to be considered as rich already.

While enjoying themselves with bowls of udon, Hiroku listened and smiled to everything that Keiji conversed with him. It's always be like that, but he enjoys it this way. Somehow he felt that it was lucky that he was paired with the younger boy rather than with another Sorcerer. Not that he minded but being with someone who had known you since you were a child did make a lot of things easier, after all.

Leaving the shop after having finished with their dinner, they continued to chat on their way back to their apartment. The lesser Shades of all shapes and sizes are swirling and roaming around them endlessly. It certainly is a sight that no human beings can take. But for them, those who have been Sorcerers for their whole lives, had gotten used to it so much that it has already become a part of their lives.

Listening to Keiji's statement, Hiroku chuckled, "Well, the organization's influence did spread far and wide, after all. Besides having to face those creatures almost everyday, they really did ensure that we have a normal life. And if we aren't Sorcerers, I think I'll just be a normal guitarist and you'll be a normal college student. But yeah, it certainly is better that we're living this life." He replied while gazing up at the starry sky above them.

When they've made it to their apartment - which was one of the only two places in Tokyo that are Shade-free, thanks to the elemental barrier being set up within the structure, the other place being Asuka's Kannazuki bar, Keiji flopped down on the couch and expresses how relieved he was before being hit with the realization that he was at the deadline for his vocabulary report. "You should really fix your habit of leaving things to the deadline." Hiroku said sternly. He had always been a punctual person so of course he would feel that he should teach his partner to be the same. "You'd better get on with it. I'll help you after taking a shower, 'kay?" He said with a wink and disappeared into the bathroom.

After taking a pleasant shower, Hiroku walked out, half-naked, with a towel hanging over his shoulders which he uses to dry his hair. Stopping by the refrigerator and grabbed a coke can, Hiroku approached Keiji, who was sitting by his laptop to work on with his report, "Any problem, then?"

If life could go on just like this, what more could he possibly asked?

"You should really fix your habit of leaving things to the deadline." Keiji groaned. "Yeah, I know. We just get busy, and I'd much rather spend my days off sleeping or playing video games or something..." Kei knew he was being unreasonable. After all, he had decided to take college classes all on his own, unlike most other Sorcerers who easily devoted all their time to hunting. "You'd better get on with it. I'll help you after taking a shower, 'kay?" With a grin, Kei pretended to have not noticed Hiroku's subtle wink, and turned to his ever-so-old laptop. Well, its not like I get to choose whether I write this thing or not. XX
Kei spent the next half hour or so writing. He was glad it wasn't an essay, as it would've been much more of a pain to write a full three pages on a specific topic rather than just one page of vocabulary definitions. It also became easier after the first few words, and he was nearly finished with the assignment by the time Hiroku returned from the shower. "Any problem, then?" Kei shook his head and leaned his head back to look up at his friend. "Nah. To be honest though, I really thought we'd be doing creative writing in a Creative Writing class, but all we've done so far is analyze old words and talk about what plot elements are most common in popular novels. So far, I'm definitely enjoying my Philosophy class more, even if all we do is read books on philosophy..." XXXX
Five minutes later, the report was finished, and Keiji emailed it to his teacher with a relieved sigh. "Well, there's one thing off my mind. Now all I have to worry about is the possible destruction of all mankind by all those creepy things~" He gestured dramatically toward the window, and at the Shades floating past it. The creatures were all of different shapes, each one menacing in its own way. "Just kidding. There isn't anything to worry about if we're here, right?" XX
After Kei had put away his laptop and changed into his pyjamas, he and Hiroku chatted about the next day a bit, discussing what they wanted to do during their free time. Kei suggested a trip to the arcade - vintage arcade games were something they both enjoyed - as well as a visit to the local bookstore. Kei didn't like libraries, they were too quiet, and much preferred simply buying the books he wanted to read rather than having to worry about finding the time to return them. Plus, owning the books gave him more leeway in the time it took to read them, whereas borrowed books all came with a specific timeline. XX
Eventually, the two bid goodnight to one another and headed to bed, gentle moonlight streaming in through their bedroom window. It hardly took them five minutes to fall asleep, and although Hiroku slept as soundly as ever, Keiji was plunged into another memory, filled with spiders and his sister's voice. XX
"Onee-chan, what are you doing?" Kei cringes at the sound of her voice, monotone and lifeless. Her eyes are glazed over and dead as he looks into them, his own tearing as his grip tightens on the kitchen knife he holds in his hand. In the background, incense burns next to delicately framed photographs of their parents. The faint smell of smoke and pine trees fills the room. "I'm going to free you from that thing." His grip on the knife tightens even more, so much that his nail split, and drops of blood drip to the floor. Keiko's expression shows not even the slightest change. Instead, the spider-like creature that sits atop her shoulders does, lunging at Kei the same moment he lunges at it, screaming with the knife aimed forward. XX
Keiji's eyes snap open, and he immediately recognizes the soft blue walls and wide window of his bedroom. His breathing is ragged and his heart beating fast, and Kei presses the palms of his hands into his eyes in an attempt to erase the horrid memory from his mind. It doesn't work. This damn dream... Kei climbed down from the bunk bed, careful not to wake Hiroku, and tiptoes out of the room. Its barely three am, and he sighs loudly, taking a seat on their plush couch and turning on the television in hopes of finding something - anything - to distract him from the dream that's kept him up for so many nights. Hiroku sat on the couch and watched as Keiji got on with his work. It was rather hot tonight so he decided that it's nicer to just stay shirtless like that til both of them go to bed. They're both boys after all so of course there are nothing to be shy of. They've even seen each other naked countless of times already. Well, perhaps Asuka would swoon or even having a nosebleed at the sight but there isn't a problem at all.

When Keiji had finished with his reports, they continued to chat about what plans they are going to have the following day. Hiroku nodded to his partner's statement of how they're fine as long as they're in their apartment. "Yeah, that's certainly. Unless it's a Level 4, there's no way they could invade us here, which was probably a cool thing since we wouldn't have to see them swirling around like crazy."

Both of them chatted a little bit more before they decided to turn off the light and just went to bed. Hiroku did try to sleep though, but it was still a bit early so he guessed that his biological clock didn't allow him to sleep just yet, so he just stared at Keiji's bed on top of him, while thinking back on how much both of them had gone through so that they can be what they're right now.

The trainee time back then wasn't easy at all, but it was nothing compared to what Hiroku and his brother, Miruki, had experienced when they're still kids. He still remembered clearly how Miruki had clung to him, digging his face into his shirt and crying when they saw the remains of their parents that were hidden under the white cloth. Back then, it has taken his everything so that he wouldn't cry. He knows that he must stay strong so that he can protect his brother - the only family he got back then.

If my power had awakened earlier, would I be able to put a stop from that tragedy? But he must admits that even though everything was painful, if they weren't there, then he wouldn't be able to have this life. And for him, this is the life that he will continue to take until the day he can't fight anymore.

While still lost in his thought, Keiji's stepping down from his bed caught his attention. It looks like he was having trouble sleeping again, which happens pretty often. And of course, how could Hiroku possibly leave him alone? He climbed out of his bed and grab his guitar which laid at the corner of the room and headed outside.

"Hey, Kei. Another sleepless night, huh?" Hiroku smiled as he sat down next to his partner, "Looks like what happened back then still haunted you til this day. I understand how you feel and I used to have so many bad dreams because of what had happened to my parents, too. But isn't it better just to embrace and accept it as it is? We wouldn't be here, and we wouldn't even have met if life has taken a different road, right?"

With another smile, Hiroku took out his guitar from its' cover and modify the cords before started playing the song that he's currently teaching at his class, though this is his own remixed acoustic version. As his fingers moved and touched the cords, the melodies echoed peacefully. For a moment, it almost felt like the whole world had just turned silent, where only the melodies played.

As the song finished, Hiroku put the guitar aside and patted Keiji's shoulder, "Just remember that I'm always here when you need me, okay? After all, we're one hell of a dream pair. Now let's get some sleep first. We'll never know if we have to set out for work tomorrow. I'll sleep together with you if you want." He said with a hint of joke as both of them went back to the bedroom. This time, they slept soundly through the night.

After flipping through countless channels, Keiji settled for the local news and turned the television on silent, not caring for the reporter's shrill annoying voice and preferring to simply read the subtitles that littered the screen. Curling into a ball, he rested his chin atop his knees and hugged his legs close to him, watching the report with only partial interest. On the screen, subtitles explained the sudden suicide of a famous politician, who had apparently been scheduled to attend a meeting the next to discuss ways to prevent teen suicides. How utterly ironic. Kei thought, snickering quietly at his own heartlessness. XX
He pretended not to hear Hiroku's padding footsteps behind him, and didn't acknowledge his friend until the taller boy sat down beside him, guitar in hand. Nodding in response to the likely-rhetorical question, Kei unfurled from his curled posture and scooted closer to Hiroku, leaning his head on the back of the couch. "Yeah. Its the same one, about Keiko." He'd only ever had the same nightmare, the same memory, playing over and over. "Looks like what happened back then still haunted you til this day. I understand how you feel and I used to have so many bad dreams because of what had happened to my parents, too. But isn't it better just to embrace and accept it as it is? We wouldn't be here, and we wouldn't even have met if life has taken a different road, right?" "Maybe. What sucks is that I can't move on because of the dream, and the dream won't stop until I move on. So basically I'm screwed either way." XX
Despite the coherent boredom in Kei's voice, he returned Hiroku's smile, and snuggled into the taller boy's side out of habit as he began to play. Keiji recognized the song - Inochi no Namae - and hummed along, admiring the remix his best friend had created. I'm so glad our neighbors never complain about this, it'd suck if he couldn't play in the apartment. As the song continued, Kei closed his eyes and listened intently to the music, wishing the moment would never end. When the song did, inevitably, end, Kei let out a tired sigh. He didn't move, not wanting to, and listened as Hiroku spoke ever-so-softly. XX
"Just remember that I'm always here when you need me, okay? After all, we're one hell of a dream pair. Now let's get some sleep first. We'll never know if we have to set out for work tomorrow." Keiji smiled up at Hiroku and slowly moved off his friend's shoulder, yawning as they made their way back to their room. "I'll sleep together with you if you want." With a laugh, Kei pulled off his glasses and set them on his desk before turning toward his friend. "Nah, I think I'd disturb your beauty sleep~" Keiji gripped the steps of the ladder and made it halfway up, despite his blurry vision, before he stopped. Peeking around the ladder at Hiroku, he grinned. Sleeping alone wasn't very appealing at the moment. "Actually, I think I'll take you up on that offer, Ro-ku~" XXXXX
Happily, Keiji crawled into bed alongside his best friend, pressing his cheek into Hiroku's shoulder. It definitely wasn't the first time they'd slept together - that had been nearly thirteen years ago, and they'd slept together many times since then. A cuddle-buddy was especially nice whenever they had nightmares. Hiroku didn't have them nearly as frequently as Keiji did, but he had always the better one at managing emotions. Kei proved to be absolutely terrible at it. XX
Needless to say, both boys fell asleep in minutes, and didn't wake up until the late morning. Over the course of the night, Kei had moved from one end of the bed to the complete opposite end, sprawled over the sheets in a starfish-like pose with small bits of drool running down the side of his face. Not the prettiest way to sleep when you're with your crush, but they'd known each other since grade school anyways, so it wasn't anything to get embarrassed about. XX
When Keiji finally woke up, it was nearly ten. Hiroku wasn't in bed, which wasn't surprising, the guy was a natural early-riser. Kei would sleep the whole day through if given the chance. When he sat up and looked toward the window, he was ecstatic to find that a steady stream of raindrops were falling, recognizable by the gentle pattering sound on the glass. Slipping on his glasses as he walked through the apartment, he threw open their balcony doors and stepped out, grinning. "Oi, Roku! Its raining!" He said, stating the obvious. Keiji stuck his hand out into the falling rain with a concentrated look on his face, and as he pulled his hand back, a swirling sphere of water floated above his open palm, slowly growing bigger as seconds passed. "Hey, check it out!" XXXX
The sphere grew to nearly one-third the size of his head before collapsing, drenching his bare feet in the process. Keiji simply stared at the remaining puddle with a disappointed frown. "Well that was anticlimactic. D'ya think I'll ever be able to drown Shades like Alistaire?" He asked, shaking his hands dry. XX

The next morning soon approaches as Hiroku was the one who's woken up first, as usual. He had climbed out of the bed they shared together last night quietly as not to wake up his partner. It's started to lightened up, though not very bright and shine yet. Stretching his arm, he gazed at the alarm clock on his desk, which showed that it's 5:00 AM. Putting on his shirt, Hiroku made his way out of the apartment and got on with his usual exercise every morning.

And of course, the first thing that greeted him when he stepped his foot out was the Shades that are crawling about in every corner of the complex. It might not really be a good sight first thing in the morning, but he's a Sorcerer, so he'd to cope with it, nonetheless. Greeting some of the middle-aged ladies who've also gotten up to do their morning errands, there isn't seemed to be anything particular waiting for him.

After taking an hour doing exercises and jogging all the way from his apartment to Akihabara district, he made his way back calmly, despite all the fussing caused by the Shades around him. In the last 5 years being an official Sorcerer with Keiji, life has pretty much be normal like this. Of course, there have also been a lot of fun adventures and memories and even times when they really risking their own lives, but it's hard to believe he and Keiji still be able to lead a life just like normal people would. Not only for him and Keiji, but also for every single Sorcerer in this world as well.

Stopping by a grocery store to be some ingredients to make breakfast, though he doubted Keiji would actually be up by now. But they didn't have anything urgent to do right now so he'd just as well have his own golden sleep. Some might say he's literally spoiling his partner. But that's just how Hiroku always is, towards both Keiji and Miruki. Taking care of people is something he personally enjoys.

When he returned, the apartment was quiet. Apparently Keiji is still wandering in the dream world, so he just carried the stuffs he had bought into the kitchen and make some dishes for breakfast. Asuka once said that if Hiroku ever going out with someone, he would be that person's greatest treasure. Well, he actually is quite popular amongst the Sorcerers across the whole division, especially females, and he knows a lot of Sorcerers, both within and beyond Japan. But he would never realize the admiration he receives and that's one of his biggest weaknesses.

Eating his own meal first and left some of Keiji's favorite food for him, Hiroku then made himself a cup of espresso before going back to the living room. Turning on the laptop, he checked the mail for any news or missions and do his daily check-up with the Shades-radar to see if there's any potential threat. But it seemed that they'll have the whole morning for themselves.

While sipping from his cup of coffee, Keiji now had finally gotten up. It's also started to rain outside. And it looks like his partner was really into it, in which he let out a chuckle. Keiji then proceeded to went to the balcony and generates a sphere from the rainwater, though it didn't last very long, much to his disappointment.

Hiroku chuckled at Keiji's statement, "Well, I think you should be able to create a 5 richter earthquake like Sienna first." He then raised his arm and generated a heat wave from his hand to where the puddle is and quickly dried it up. "Your breakfast is in the kitchen. Though I wouldn't call it breakfast now, eh?"

It's my favorite Ghibli movie xD And I enjoyed its soundtrack the most in comparison with any of Joe Hisaishi's works :D
And ok, thanks for the reminder :D

"A .5 richter earthquake? You're probably right, but wouldn't that just cause even more damage? Drowning people in a sphere of water is much cleaner." Kei said, jokingly, wiping his hands on his shirt and stepping back into the apartment. He watched Hiroku dry up the puddle on the balcony and turned curiously toward the clock on the wall in hearing his friend's statement. "It isn't noon yet, so its technically still breakfast! Plus, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so if it was lunch instead, I'd be screwed~" Keiji stretched his arms lazily and made his way into the kitchen. He loudly expressed his gratitude when he discovered the meal was his favorite style of curry - the style being 'Hiroku's Style' - and ate with an incredibly pleased look on his face. XXX
After finishing, Kei chatted about this and that with Hiroku as he washed the leftover dishes, gushing a bit about the one time he'd gotten to meet Archmagister Sienna. It was natural for Sorcerers to meet their respective superiors at least once throughout their career, but it had still been an extremely memorable moment. "You should've seen her! She created a whole cage out of just dirt! And here I can't even make more than a pillar..." The conversation went on for another two or three topics before it turned toward what they wanted to spend the rest of their day off doing. The two had yet to decide on it. XX
Kei mulled over the shelves full of manga and anime discs that sat beside their television. "Are there any we haven't finished yet?" The answer was no, so as per usual, Kei went straight for Shigatsu Wa Kimi no Uso. He'd become obsessed with the tragic romance show ever since it had first come out, and had already seen it countless times. Keiji ended up changing his mind at the last second, deciding to watch Spirited Away instead. Hiroku was probably relieved. XX
Throughout the course of the film, Kei made it a point to call put every plothole and unexplained happening, even though there weren't many. "Y'know, I heard a rumor that Miyazaki created this movie to represent the sex industry in Japan or something like that. Pretty random, eh?" He went on to explain the different comparisons between Spirited Away and the sex industry, distracting both Hiroku and himself from the movie. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, he couldn't really stand to concentrate on something for too long. It could take him up to three days to finish a single film or episode of a show. XX
About ten minutes later, their attention was returned to the film, though Kei fell asleep not long after, despite the fact he'd already slept through half the day. His light snoring continued even after the movie was finished, and a pool of drool began to form on the couch cushion he was resting on as Spirited Away was swapped out for another film. Keiji slept through the second film as well, glasses sitting sideways on his face and slowly sliding off. It wasn't really the prettiest sight, but one could find the drool and snoring to be endearing if having put up with it long enough. He hoped that was how Hiroku felt. XXXX
When Kei finally did wake up again, it was around two-thirty in the afternoon, the sun now blaring warm rays through the window. "...eh?" It took him a moment to remember the exact reason why he'd fallen asleep in the sitting room, and he stared in disdain at the pool of saliva on the couch as he absentmindedly wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, also frowning at the drool that came off on it. "Have I always drooled in my sleep? It can't be something I just happened to start doing, right? Its still gross in either case..." He said, standing to retrieve a towel to clean up the remaining pool of spit. XX

After Keiji had finished his meal, he went back to the living room and continued to chat with Hiroku. He recounted a bit on that one time when he got to meet Sienna, the Oceania Archmagister. Hiroku nodded in acknowledgement. It was back when they were still trainees and Hiroku was also there too. It was a huge privilege to have met them. "Well, I've met Mei Feng a couple of times already and yeah, she was cool too. At her zenith she can travel at the speed of Mach 10. I guess I still have a long way before I could reach her."

While they could hardly ever met other archmagisters, Mei Feng frequently comes to Japan since she's also the Prime Minister of China. Miyuki usually would inform him whenever she wanted to hold meeting with the more prominent members of the Division, which include both of them. Nonetheless, they really are those that each and every Sorcerer in the world would look up with admiration.

Hiroku and Keiji then proceeded to watch some films. Though they didn't really just watch since Keiji just brought up all sorts of fact about what they were watching. Well, Hiroku could possibly nodded and agree to what his partner said. There's not much that he can do about it.

When they finally could concentrated on watching the film, Keiji soon fell asleep after only 10 minutes. The younger boy just peacefully leaned his head against his shoulder. Sighing, Hiroku then chuckling at the sight, "You're really hopeless." Hiroku then gently put Keiji lying on the couch and turned off the TV. For the next couple of hours, he spent his time playing games to pass time.

When it was time for his guitar teaching class, Hiroku changed into a more suitable attire and picked up his guitar. Keiji had also just gotten up and was cleaning a pool of drool he made after his nap. "I'm off for my class. Call me if anything pop up, kay?" He smiled and made his way out of the apartment.

Once the puddle was cleaned up (as much as it could be, at least) Keiji tossed the towel onto the table and stretched. "I'm off for my class. Call me if anything pop up, kay?" With a slight frown, Kei turned toward the clock and let out a sigh. "So its that time already? Well, have fun! And I will, though I doubt anything interesting's gonna happen without you here~" Keiji watched Hiroku leave and groaned loudly the second the front door had shut, flopping back onto the couch. Man, everything's always super boring when he's not here. Maybe I should take one of his guitar classes... He took a moment to think about it. Nah, it'd be way nicer to have him teach me one-on-one~ Chuckling quietly to himself, Keiji stood up and grabbed the towel to put in the wash. XX
After collecting all the dirty laundry he could find, he tossed it all into the washing machine and turned it on before heading back to their bedroom to find something to wear. After all, he was still dressed in his nightclothes. He ended up deciding on a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and his favorite neon pink hooded sweatshirt. Keiji then realized that he didn't really have a whole lot to do with the remaining hour and a half he had before Hiroku would be returning. Once he'd put away the movie and done a quick survey of their apartment, he settled on heading to the convenience store to buy more canned coffee and a couple of other random groceries they didn't currently have. I gotta make sure I stop by the bookstore and see if the new Shonen Jump magazine is out yet. XX
At the store, Kei bought several different things: iced coffees, milk, eggs, Pocky, a package of hydrangea seeds, and the cutest little basil plant he'd ever seen. He carried the tiny plant with care as he made his way toward the bookstore. To his delight, the next two Shonen Jump magazines were on sale, as well as the newest volume of a manga series he'd been reading called Horimiya. Content with his purchases, Keiji headed toward home, checking the time to make sure he'd still get home before Hiroku did. He liked being there when his friend returned, mostly because he always got to respond with a classic 'okaeri'. XXXX
When he got back to the apartment, he put away the groceries he'd bought and tossed the magazines onto the couch before looking around for a spot to put the basil plant. As expected of an Earth Mage, there were countless plants scattered in every corner and on every surface, most of them flowering or bearing whatever fruit or vegetable they were meant too. Such was one of the perks of having a gift with plants. After about ten minutes of searching, Keiji finally managed to find an open spot on their bedroom windowsill, and gently placed the basil plant next to the other flowering plants lining the platform. Cradling the tiny sprout in his hand, Kei watched happily as the plant grew slowly, until it was at least five centimeters taller and now bearing more leaves. XXXX
Glancing at the clock on his phone, Kei was slightly discouraged to find that he still had a fair amount of time before Hiroku would be home, and decided to skim through the new magazines he'd bought. Halfway through the first one, he fell asleep, sprawled comfortably across the couch with one leg hanging off the side and the discarded Shonen Jump magazine laying across his chest, a signature string of drool slowly making its way down the side of his face. Carrying the guitar with him, Hiroku walked his way out of the complex. It's already passed noon, but the streets were crowded with people as ever. And, of course, the Shades seemed to be as dense, so much that it almost made the whole big city like Tokyo felt suffocating. Sometimes he was really wondering if there's going to be a weapon of sort in the future that could swipe all the Shades on earth with one hit. But perhaps that's never going to happen. Shades are born because of the dark side of humanity, so until the apocalypse, they will continue to swarm the earth's surface.

Trailing his way to the studio where Hiroku rented to hold his classes, he went through the back door and walked up to the front room, where the students have all assembled and chatting with each other. But all the attention in the room was turned to Hiroku when he arrived. Half of the students there are females, for obvious reasons. But all of them were rather fond with him though.

"Konichiwa, everyone. Today let's learn a new song. I suppose you all have received the sheets so let's begin." Hiroku sat at the chair in the front of the class and started playing.

The class passed by quietly without much fuss. After showing them how to play the song, he oversaw them all to observe how they play. Though not all of them are gifted, them seemed to be enthusiastic enough. It was quite fun to teach them and give them advice to help them play better.

"Okay, let's stop here for today. Please practice again at home. See you all again on Saturday." Hiroku smiled brightly and said to them all as everyone made their way out of the studio.

"Umm... Kazeshima-sensei..." A girl approached Hiroku, it seemed that she was intending to give him something.

"Yes, Himeko-san?" He replied, with a smile.

"I... umm...made this myself." She stretched out her arms and handed him a box, "I hope you can take it, as my gratitude, sensei."

Hiroku blinked in surprise, but then smiled brightly again. Nodded, he took the box, "Thank you. Have a nice evening." Grinning, he made their way out of the studio through the back door. It's still quite early so he didn't need to buy anything for dinner. There are still some stuffs left in the refrigerator so he doesn't really need it, anyway.

However, when was walking, a man with dull look in his eyes bumped into him. Immediately, he could sense the presence of a Shade within him. A Level 3 one. Their presences are not clear until they've consumed at least 75.39% of the humanity within their hosts, so Hiroku needed to take care of this one.

Following the man until he could find somewhere more deserted, Hiroku called Keiji by his phone, who replied with a sleepy voice, "Kei, I found a host of a Level 3. We are currently heading towards the Yodobashi-Akiba Mall in Akihabara. Grab my guns and the extracting device on your way, 'kay?"

Keiji slept soundly, drool pooling beside his head, until his cell phone blared ythe song Orenji loudly on the coffee table next to him. Groaning, Kei shuffled his hand around on the table until he found the phone and brought it to his ear. "What is it?" His words cut out slightly as he yawned. "Kei, I found a host of a Level 3. We are currently heading towards the Hazaku Mall in Akihabara. Grab my guns and the extracting device on your way, 'kay?" Suddenly much more awake, Kei gave his friend an affirmative 'yes' and hopped up from the couch, speeding off toward their bedroom. Grabbing Hiroku's gun holster and shoving it hurriedly into his messenger bag, he quickly rummaged through the closet until he found the Level 3 extracting device, shoving it into the bag as well. He then secured the bag over his shoulders and grabbed his staff case, racing out of the apartment and completely neglecting the mess on the couch. XX
Weaving through the passers-by as he ran through the city, Keiji was grateful for his stamina. No one paid him more than a sideways glance as he pushed through the evening crowd, most likely pegging him for a student who was late for cram school, and decided against taking the train to Akihabara as he couldn't waste time making any stops. Hiroku was by no means useless without his weapons, but he would be unable to truly attack the Shade until it had been removed from its host, and at the moment Kei had the extracting device. It didn't take him more than twenty minutes to reach the Hazaku Mall, and he took a sharp turn into the extensive alleyways behind the building, following the trail of smaller Shades who were currently fleeing the larger Level 3. XXX
Finally spotting his best friend and the Shade in question, Kei grinned and hurried over. "Roku, catch!" Kei tossed both the gun holster and the extraction device to Hiroku, hurrying to stand beside him. The extraction device itself was hardly longer than Hiroku's pistols, though much bulkier and surprisingly more difficult to aim, though it was still a cinch for Hiroku. One shot later and the Shade was detached from its human host, who was currently crumpled on the ground, unconscious. The two Sorcerers didn't even need to speak to each other to know what to do. Tapping the ringed tip of his staff onto the street, Kei watched with pride as a stone dome formed over the unconscious girl, protecting her from the battle, and turned back to the wolf-esque Shade. XX
"I gotta say, I'm a little bit disappointed in how easy it was to force this guy out of his host. Usually they take more than one shot. Oh well, less work for us I guess!" Kei tended to enjoy their battles, especially the more challenging ones, and counted it as a 'fair fight' whenever he managed to contract actual injuries. An odd way of thinking for someone who was protecting the human race, but if he was gonna be doing this his whole life, he was gonna enjoy it. XX
Swinging his staff around himself with expert ease, Keiji hit the ringed tip onto the street again, this time erecting walls on either end of the alleyway to keep any passers-by from wandering into the fight, as well as limiting the Shade's options for movement. "You better not take all night to get rid of." Kei and Hiroku then took turns in attacking, a system they'd worked out after an incident in which they'd both advanced at once and ended up injuring each other with their respective attacks. The Shade was decently stronger than the one they'd fought the day before, and had a great deal of wit, attacking deliberately and with an aim that Keiji was just barely able to escape. A full fifteen minutes passed, and the two Sorcerers had only managed to get one major hit in. XXX
"Okay, you know I love a challenge, but this is just plain annoying!" With a frustrated huff, Kei inhaled and curled a mess of stone around the Shade's hind legs, holding it in place. He grunted in annoyance as one of its legs broke free a minute later. Damn this thing. He waited impatiently as Hiroku's air bullets fired into the Shade's side, and caused a bright light to shine from his staff in the creature's face, blinding it momentarily and giving him enough time to open up a long laceration on its jawline with the sharpened end of his k'rik. The Shade roared in pain and its jaw hung limps, the tendons severed and rendering its bite no longer a threat. Kei ducked under a clawed foot as it swung at him, but was a second too slow, and cringed slightly as he felt a cut open up on his shoulder. Ignoring it, he used the stone from the street and ice from nearby puddles to keep the Shade in one place while Hiroku shot it down. XX
About two minutes later, the Shade was gone, leaving behind nothing but a large silvery-grey geode and a section of the alleyway that had been effectively butchered. With a sigh and slight smirk, Keiji tapped his staff onto the pavement and returned the mess of deformed stone to its original state as a flat road. "Well that took forever. That thing was strong though, look, it even managed to get a solid hit on me!" Taking a moment to show off the blood on his shoulder and trying his best to ignore Hiroku's look of concern, Kei put his staff back into its carrying case and the extracting gun back into his messenger bag before pressing his hand to the wound and starting the healing process. The wound itself became illuminated as Keiji sauntered back to his friend's side. XX
"About how much do you think a Level 3 that strong'd be worth? It had to've been pretty close to becoming a Level 4 or it probably wouldn't've had that much strength fresh out of its host. Maybe we could get a good ¥15,000 for it?" Kei spoke as they walked, continuing to heal his arm while they chatted. XX

Hiroku continued following the man until they've reached a hidden spot near the Mall. When the time was right, Hiroku teleported both him and the host of the Shade into an alley that didn't attract too much attention just nearby. Immediately when they arrived at their spot, the man turned his hollow gaze to Hiroku while rising both of his arms with the intention of strangling him and approached him in a zombie-like manner.

Hiroku raises his fists and ready to knock the man down. There's no need to use his power now because he had to make sure that the man isn't hurt. Their goal is the Shade, after all. As the man suddenly speeding up towards him, Keiji soon appeared and threw his guns and the extracting device. Doing a back-flip and shoot a laser beam with the device, the Shade was quickly removed from its' host with just one shot.

After their battle with the Shade, Hiroku approached the man to check his state. After making sure that the man is still breathing, he placed his hand over the man's head and erase any memory relating to their encounter with his darkness - a trick that any Dark Sorcerer knows. I hope from now on he will have a better life with his family now that he's no longer under its' influence. Smiling at the thought, he stood up and joined Keiji who's healing his injured arm with his light.

As they made their way out of the alley, they chatted as Keiji pondered over how much will the Remnant cost. Hiroku chuckled as he gazed at the pearl-colored Remnant on his hand. Slightly raising his eyebrow as if he's trying to remember something, Hiroku then just shook his head and put the Remnant away. "We're still having quite some to manage this month so we didn't need to trade yet. I'll just save this for later. Anyway, wanna stop by for some grilled meat?"

And so, both of the stopped by a yakiniku for some grilled meat while chatting about all sort of stuff. Life can be quite easy if you're an S-class Sorcerer, but high-leveled Shades like the one they've just fought don't appear everyday, so they need to have another career or two, just in case when incomes turn to be slow. Living expenses increase everyday, after all. It's already a blessing that they were able to find some line of work just to put food on table every day.

Making their way back home, Hiroku's phone suddenly rung, signaling that there was an incoming message. It was from his brother, Miruki.

"Hiro-nii, I'm gonna have some days off school before taking the entrance exams, mind if I stay over your apartment during those?"

Raising his eyebrows, Hiroku pondered for a moment before replying with a 'Sure' and put away his phone. "Well, looks like my cute little bro is coming. Best get prepared." Hiroku shrugged, "I'm going to take the shower first, 'kay?"

As they made their way up the stairs to their apartment - unfortunately, the elevator was broken, and they were on the eighth floor - Keiji rambled on to Hiroku about a couple of the new manga series that had given their debut in the volume of Shonen Jump he'd bought earlier that day. He also listed off the different groceries he'd bought, though his rambling came to a stop as Hiroku turned his attention to his cell. Kei knew that there were only a few people who ever texted him. It likely wasn't Miyuki, as she preferred to call, and he didn't really want to know if it was Asuka. Judging by Hiroku's fond smile, however, he figured that it was probably Miruki, Hiroku's brother. "Well, looks like my cute little bro is coming. Best get prepared." Suspicions confirmed. XX
"Ah, so Mii-chan is coming to stay with us? Sounds like fun!" "I'm going to take the shower first, 'kay?" Nodding, Kei headed to their bedroom in order to find their spare futons. Whenever Miruki came to stay, the three would sleep together on a mess of futons and blankets, the same way they'd slept during their sleepovers as kids. Most of the time they woke up on top of Hiroku, but the guy had never said anything against it, so Kei assumed he didn't care. XXX
When he walked into their bedroom, Keiji was suddenly aware of the fact that he'd neglected to close the closet door in his haste to get to the battle scene, and now all the closet's contents were spread haphazardly across the floor. Well, I guess I might as well organize the closet while I'm at it. He spent the next twenty minutes or so putting everything back into the closet, though this time in a much more neat way than when he'd usually just shove everything inside. By the time Hiroku came back from the shower, the spare futons and blankets were sitting folded on one side of their room and Keiji was napping at his desk, having started working on one of his philosophy essays and fallen asleep a third of the way through. He snapped awake as Hiroku entered the room. XX
Kei left to take his own shower, and spent the duration of the half-hour thinking about Keiko and if it would be creepy to invite her to stay at their place sometime. Keiko still lived in the town they'd grown up in, and was apparently still friends with Miruki. However, she didn't remember Keiji as her brother, only as 'that one pink-haired guy who brings flowers sometimes '. He only went to visit his sister every two months or so, and he never spoke to her directly, only to her adoptive parents or in a note. And he always left her a bouquet of red spider lilies, which were her favorite flowers, despite their dark representation. XX
After his shower, Kei changed into his nightclothes and made a rather pathetic attempt at drying his hair before he headed back to his desk, sitting down and staring at his laptop with an annoyed expression. "Please remind me why I decided to go through the immense trouble of getting a higher education..." XX
He and Hiroku chatted loosely as Kei wrote his essay, though he only got to half the word count before giving up. The two then chatted a bit more, trading guesses on what kinds of things Miruki got up to in Senior High (Keiji joked about how funny it would be if him and Keiko ended up dating one day, even though it was hardly likely) and what kinds of friends he had. As kids, the four of them were very close-knit, and it was pretty hard for them to all split up. After a half hour of conversation, the two finally decided to go to sleep. They were both looking forward to Miruki's visit, as they didn't get to see him very often, and the kid was sweeter than any other teenager Keiji knew. Except perhaps Keiko, but that was just Keiji's brotherly bias speaking an opinion. XXXX

x* Japanese Red Spider Lilies symbolize death, loneliness, pain, and eternal solitude. They're usually referred to as the 'Death Flower', hence the 'dark representation'.

After Keiji had finished with his writings, Hiroku chatted with him a little bit more before they finally decided to settle for the day. He still hasn't examined the Remnant that they earned from the Shade earlier that afternoon. Usually they would bring it straight to Kannazuki to trade with Asuka, but he had decided to see if it was anything special. Something was off with the Shade, despite being only a Level 3. Perhaps he was only being a little too worrisome, but that's just how he is.

Miruki had sent Hiroku another message, saying that he will take a train from their hometown and should be here at 7:30 AM. He'll also be drop off at Tokyo Station, so Hiroku must remember to go there to catch him up. It's been a while since he last saw his brother, so he's looking forward that the three of them can hang out again. Though they still need to be extra careful when they go out to work when Miruki was here.

After chatting with each other a little bit more, they both rest for the night soon afterward. It was a long day indeed but it's not like that they didn't enjoy their life as it is now. Morning soon approaches and Hiroku got up early as he always did everyday. Before he got out of the apartment to do his usual exercise, he received a call from Miyuki just to check up the situation in Tokyo, like she usual did on a weekly routine.

Hiroku made his way to Tokyo Station when it was 15 minutes prior to his brother's arrival. He waited patiently while playing with a wild cat crawling at his feet until Miruki arrived. "Long time no see, Hiro-nii." A young man whose appearance resembled raised his arm and greeted him as he stepped down from the train. "Yeah, it's been a while, Miru." He tilted his head and smiled with his younger brother as they bumped their fists, "Looks like you're still doing fine over there."

On their way back to Hiroku's apartment, they stopped by a convenient store to buy some ingredients. Miruki had offered to make breakfast so that one thing off Hiroku's hand for now. "Kei-san is still sleeping?" Miruki asked as he put off his shoes and went inside the apartment, "Looks like things hadn't changed since the last time I was here after all."

"Yeah, he probably won't get up until 10:00 AM or something, so just do anything you wanted to keep yourself amused. We'll go somewhere to have fun later." Hiroku said, "Now then, I really miss my little brother's cooking."

"Wait for me a little bit." Miruki smiled as he carried the groceries into the kitchen.

Keiji fell asleep instantaneously after climbing into bed, however, this sleep was not at all peaceful. The blank, expressionless face of his mother stood in front of him, no emotion reflecting in her eyes and her body turned thin and frail, pale and cold to the touch. The spider-like Shade stood behind her, its legs clinging onto her body like the lifeline she was. And all the while, her voice kept saying Kei's name over and over. He tossed and turned in his sleep, letting out choked moans and labored breaths, yet he didn't wake up. It wasn't until his mother's face morphed into Keiko's that Keiji finally opened his eyes, and although he had expected the room to be dark and quiet, instead he was meant with sunlight and the sound of birds chirping outside the window. XX
Sitting up, Kei let out a yawn and rubbed at his eyes with the heel of his hand, trying his best to ignore the layer pf cold sweat covering his forehead. I hope I didn't wake up Roku last night... Climbing down from his bed and slipping on his glasses, Keiji glanced at the clock and found that it was already almost eleven. Definitely not the latest he'd ever slept, but it was still late. Kei's slightly sour mood perked up when he heard the sounds of conversation coming from the kitchen, immediately recognizing Miruki's voice. He made his way into the kitchen with a sleepy grin, ignoring whatever the Kazeshima brothers were chatting about as he draped himself over Miruki's shoulders - or tried to, at least. "Micchan, you're getting taller and its making me feel depressed." XXX
Kei joined in on the meal that was being had - though everyone else had already finished eating - and quickly integrated himself into their conversation, prodding at Miruki with a playful grin and demanding to know every detail of the younger boy's life. Since the three never got to communicate in anything other than infrequent texts and extremely rare visits, the first objective of the morning - or afternoon, almost - was to catch up on the happenings of their lives. Keiji ranted both enthusiastically and loathingly about his Creative Writing and Psychology courses, adding in small tidbits about his professors and the few classmates he deemed friends. Hiroku talked about his guitar class and his students, to which Kei definitely didn't memorize every spoken detail. XXX
In return, Miruki talked about his classes and club activities. He talked about his school friends - including Keiko - and about how his and Hiroku's parents were doing, as well as a small bit about Keiko, which Keiji listened to with a fond but still pained smile. Miruki also talked about his new part-time job, which was the topic that peaked the most interest from Hiroku and Keiji, well, mostly Keiji. All in all, the conversation was lively and comforting, and didn't come to an end for a good hour and a half before bringing up the question of what the three of them should do with the rest of the day they had together. XXX
"We should go to the arcade! Or bowling! Or maybe we could play video games or something..." Keiji continued to list off activities for a good five minutes, each one being discussed and either ruled out or accepted as an option. In the end, it was decided that they should spend the day at home watching movies and playing games, since they all had a day off and "days off should be spent being lazy". A few hours later, and the three were curled up together on the couch, halfway through a Star Wars marathon. Keiji had - unsurprisingly - fallen asleep before the first film had even finished, and was now laying with his legs flung over Hiroku's lap and one hand hanging off the couch, drool spilling onto the cushions. Miruki managed to take a few very embarrassing photos. XXXX
And so the day commenced: with a movie marathon and some well-earned cuddle time. Keiji woke up briefly to eat lunch and rant about different Star Wars fan theories before falling back asleep during episode four, leaving Hiroku and Miruki to make comments on the movie and push Kei over whenever he got too invasive in his slumber. Their marathon had been completed by the time dinner came around, and the later part of the evening was spent playing video games. Or, Hiroku and Miruki played video games while Keiji reluctantly attempted to finish another two paragraphs of his Creative Writing project. XX
Once it was time for bed, the three friends curled up together on their heap of futons and blankets and talked more about different things - future jobs, relationship advice, anime, movies, food - whatever came to mind. Keiji supplied most of the conversation topics, as his brain was always racing, and he was the first to fall asleep as well, his entire body wrapped around his pillow while he drooled onto Hiroku's shoulder. It wasn't long before all three of them were asleep. Kei and Miruki effectively ignored the concept of 'personal space' as they both used Hiroku as a pillow, curling into his body heat as if he were a gigantic teddy bear. That night, Keiji's dreams were completely devoid of any stressors, and he was gladly able to sleep without anything scaring him. XXXXX

Image

xxxI'm going to make it a trend that Keiji falls asleep during any type of film simply because I like writing about him drooling everywhere and laying on Hiroku.

As both Hiroku and Miruki made their way into the kitchen, Miruki began cooking as he had promised, with the ingredients that they had bought on the way. It has been a while since the last time they can talk to each other face to face like this and apparently both of them has a lot to say. Though surprisingly, nothing much had really changed during the time they didn't meet. And, Miruki's high school life seemed to be as fun as ever, according to what he said to him in their previous messages and calls.

As Miruki was setting the dishes out on the table, Keiji seemed to have gotten up from his "almost-eternal-sleep" and draped himself over Hiroku's brother, "Hey, Kei-san. Looks like you're still doing fine too. Though it was not my fault that I'm taller than you." He said with a light smile and greeted Keiji.

With that said, the three of them sat down and eat their meal together. This really brings back memories of when they're still together though, as they seemed to bring up all sorts of topics to talk and recounted the things that had happened during the time they were separated. Most of the stories that Keiji brought up were known to Hiroku already, but Miruki seemed to be interested in them. In return, his brother recounted the activities at school, the fact that some of the girls are sending him love letters and presents, and some news about Keiji's sister - Keiko, which apparently his partner didn't seem to be please to hear.

Then, they went on deciding what to do for the rest of the day, before finally coming down to just stay at home and do whatever they got around the apartment. Well, Keiji was always the one to come up with things for them to do, in comparison with both Hiroku and Miruki who had always been quieter. They watched films together first thing, but unsurprisingly, Keiji fell asleep again, while strangling all over Hiroku again. "He just never change, huh?" Miruki commented, as Hiroku replied with a shrug.

For the rest of the day, the three of them lazed around the apartment as if there wasn't a care in the world. Hiroku couldn't help sighing at the sight of him being used as a teddy bear, but sleep quite peacefully nonetheless. He knows that without the two of them, his life will be dull. They are, after all, the most important for him and he wanted to protect them, no matter what. Perhaps if he had never been a Sorcerer in the first place, then he wouldn't have to worry of how his life would turn out either.

Morning fast approaches and Hiroku had gotten up early as ever, though he's decided to take a day off from exercising, since it's important not to exert himself if he wanted to keep fit. So, when he had gotten out of the bed without waking the other two up, he stood on the balcony and watched the breaking dawn. The morning breeze was rather chilly, but he doesn't mind.

"Hey, Hiro-nii. You've already gotten up?" Miruki spoke up as he rubbed his eyes, which gained Hiroku's attention.

"Hey. You aren't sleeping in, that's something new." Hiroku chuckled and replied.

"Yeah, things changed. I guess." Miruki stepped up and joined his brother as they both watched the sun goes up while talking about trivial matters, like what Miruki planned to do after graduation. Suddenly, he hugged Hiroku and bury his face into his chest, which surprises him.

"Miru, why are you-" He asked but was cut short.

"It's lonely without you, you know..." Miruki quietly muttered, "Am I... still your little bro, nii-chan?"

Hiroku blinked and then exhaled a sigh before smiling. It seemed no matter how much both of them had grown up, Miruki always reverted back to be his little brother when there are just the two of them. Patting his head, Hiroku said, "Of course you are, baka."

When Keiji woke up the next morning, he was alone, his fingers body wrapped around everyone's pillows and limbs tangled up in their mess of blankets. He groggily fished around on the floor for his glasses, slipping them on and yawning loudly. Yesterday was fun. Micchan should come visit us more often. Standing up to stretch, Kei silently padded out of the bedroom and into the bathroom, where he lazily attempted to tame his wild bed-head and exchanged his eyeglasses for contact lenses. He then headed out into the sitting room, looking around for Hiroku and Miruki. He found them in the kitchen, chatting quietly while they made breakfast together. "Ohayo!" Kei said, standing on his tiptoes to peer curiously over their shoulders at the food that was still cooking. XXX
Kei bothered the two brothers for a few minutes more, but eventually got kicked out of the kitchen, since his loitering was taking up too much room and ran the risk of someone tripping or something getting knocked over. So, while he waited, he ended up trailing around the apartment tending to his army of houseplants, many of which were surprisingly difficult to care for when it came to regular gardeners. Keiji, however, was not a regular gardener, and therefore any plant could be grown with expert ease in their home. There were plants on every shelf, every windowsill, and every table and countertop. XX
"Oi, Roku, do you think you can buy houseplants online? Is that a thing?" He inquired over the breakfast table, still stuck on the topic of gardening even as he shoveled food into his mouth. "I mean, it'd be super convenient to get plants that don't grow here naturally, but they'd probably be damaged during shipping or something, right? Which would make it a bad way to purchase plants, I guess." The topic of plants held steady for a little while longer before dissolving into other subjects. I wonder if Lady Sienna has a lot of houseplants in her home like I do. Where does she live, anyway? Australia maybe? XXXX
Same as the previous morning, the question came up of what to do with the rest of the day, and since the three had already spent a full day watching movies and otherwise doing nothing at all, it was easily agreed that they should all go out into town to find something to do. While getting dressed, Keiji chatted enthusiastically about different places they frequented - Hiroku's favorite cafe, Kei's favorite anime and manga store, the video game arcade they sometimes went to - all these places wormed their way into the conversation, along with anywhere else they had gone and not had a specifically bad time. XX
Ten minutes later, they were off, happily falling into a conversation about video games and food. Is it bad to wish that this moment would never end? XXX

After their little intimating scene while watching the breaking dawn on the balcony together, Hiroku and Miruki went out and bought some ingredients to make breakfast. Keiji is still sleeping though and he probably wouldn't be waking up any time soon, just like usual. At least for now the apartment seemed more lively with the presence of Miruki, that's for sure. Hiroku secretly hopes that it would remain like this in the future, but there's a lot of complication going on with the whole Sorcerer thing though, so it's not going to happen any time soon.

As they strolled their way along the street, they talked about many things, just like they always did before Hiroku join the organization. He really missed moments like this with Miruki - just the two of them, holding to each other, against all difficulties that come without the presence of their parents. At least life has been a smooth sail for both of them. Hiroku hopes that he could confide with his brother about his and Keiji's secret occupation. I wonder how would it be if it was Miru instead of me, or if both of us were Sorcerers? He quietly thought for himself.

When they made it back, they began making breakfast together. Outsiders would probably think that they look more like a newlywed couple rather than siblings. As they cooked, Keiji popped in and bothered them for a while, until being pushed out by Miruki before he broke another plate. When they are finished, the three ate their meal and continued with their chatters. There's never seemed to be a moment of rest when they hang out.

Keiji then suddenly asked if he can buy some house plants on the Internet. Both of them had never seized to be amazed by his passion for plants though. "Well, don't you think we've had quite a collection of plants around our apartment now? It's not like I was against it, but they'll suffocate us while we sleep if you let them invade our bedroom, remember? If you can find some space for new plants then go ahead, though don't put too many in our room."

After the meal, they discussed what they should do for the rest of the day, which is playing and venturing into the city, of course. Having reached the decision to go to the places which are both Hiroku's and Keiji's favorite spot, they went to changed their clothes and headed down to the street for their little trip around Tokyo.

For the rest of the morning, they've been to all places and have had a lot of fun. Miruki seemed contented enough and remarked that he couldn't wait until graduation so that he can move here. Their fun trip lasts until 2:00PM, when Hiroku excused himself because he still got a guitar class to teach, so he told the younger two to keep having fun without him and that he'll see them later back at their apartment.
