Biography: She was born Clovis California, though this only lasted for a little less than 24 hours, as she was given up for adoption and taken to Auburn New York with her new parents. Her adoptive parents had a son already but the wife was no longer able to try for more children as it was not easy on her health, and since they had wanted a daughter, they had set up a closed adoption with the actual parents of Mariah. Within a few weeks of her birth, her adoptive mother died in a car crash on her way home from work, leaving her to grow up with just her adoptive father and elder brother, his blood son.
Because she grew up in a house of males, she found it nearly impossible to communicate with other females, thus resulting in all of her friends being male. Her father, favoritizing her and being the over protective man he was, found this quite hard of him to swallow, causing him much worry. And rightly so. The males that she tended to befriend werenât ethe safest or most peaceful guys on the planet; she constantly found herself getting into arguments and fights with other students at her schools, ultimately getting so bad that she was placed in a form of anger management for a year. Though it did little help.
Throughout her elementary and junior high school years she had tried to create a good relationship with her brother, considering he was her only sibling that she knew of at the time. But no matter how hard she tried, nothing would click, they basically had nothing in common and he didnât seem to even be trying. Eventually she gave up, though she still didnât ignore him, as most siblings would do if that were the case.
When she reached the age of 14, her brother found out about the fact that she was adopted, seeing as he didnât remember the actual adoption because of the young age he was when it happened. His father begged him to keep it a secret until the day she turned 18, but unfortunately, that didnât happen. Fore one night she had decided to sneak out of the house, and though she was caught by her father, he shrugged it off as if it were nothing, making her brother angry as he knew his father would not have acted that way if it were him sneaking out of the house. Because of this, her brother had proceeded to tell her that the only reason that their father treated her kindly was because she was adopted and felt pity for her. This enraged her and she ended up getting into a fight with her brother and pathetically loosing, only to have her father come and scald them, which lead to the obvious question she had for him and the painful answer that came with it.
She found herself depressed and even more violent than she already tended to be most of the time and she found herself drinkingâŠand drinkingâŠand drinking, all for the sake of numbing the pain away. Her father attempted to comfort her and reassure her that what her blood parents did was for her own good, but she couldnât believe it in the slightest. And until her senior year of high school she continued on this way.
The one thing that stopped her from continuing her drinking was tattooing; during her senior year is when she discovered the pull that she was getting forwards the craft of body art. She couldnât explain why exactly it caught her eyes, but she knew it was what she was called to do, and she intended on doing so. Thus, once she turned eighteen, she began going through the process of receiving a tattooing license.
Oddly enough, within the time period of her doing this, her birth mother had found her and contacted her. With this Mariah found out that the reasoning for her adoption was the fact that her parents had not wanted a daughter, this not making her feel any better about the entire adoption fact about her life. Though she continued to contact her mother, and eventually got into contact with all of her parents and actual siblings.
Her life seemed to be going a bit normally until her father became ill, she tried her best to care for him as her brother had requested of her to do, but it came down to nothing more than him still getting sicker. Her brother had asked him to go see the hospital, but he refused, and because of this her brother asked her to beg him, assuming he would listen to her. But as she begged for him to go to the hospital to be taken care of, he continued to refuse, and because of this fact, he passed on.
Her brother automatically blamed her for there fathers death and refused to continue calling her his sister, his perspective of her completely changing to the point of him wishing death upon her. Because of him, she feared to go to their fatherâs funeral, so she sat in her car at a distance and washed as it went on, not getting the chance to even take part in it. With this she lost all contact with the brother she had grown up with, and though she knew she had a large family still out there, she felt as if she had lost everyone.
Because of this she began to hang out with the wrong guys, what you would consider wanna be gang members in and around her town. Leading to her beating a minor with a bat she had brought with her for the act hand, causing the teen to be hospitalized for a short time. Because of this she was sentenced to 90 days in jail. Though once getting out, she turned back to staying away from her so-called friends.
After that she strayed away from even caring about being friends with anyone, focusing only on her job, and within a very short time she had finally made it; finally got her own parlor, The Colored Lion. She was quite proud of this considering the fact she had accomplished it at only twenty years of age.
It wasnât long before she had to go out of town to gather things for the shop leaving the shops two newest workers in charge during her leave, and while doing so, she met the man she would end up marrying. Most would find it odd, considering he was 10 years her elder, but she could have cared less, not even seeming to think twice about the age difference. And after three years he had proposed to her and they were wed, moving her tattoo parlor to their new home, Boston MA.
While everything had happened to Lucasâ family in the time after, she found herself getting a bit closer to her own true family, though still never feeling as if they were actually her real parents or siblings, she still had the craving to speak with her own brother. Though she found she could only gain contact with him when she found out she was pregnant, as he wanted to be part of its life. She found herself happy with the fact that she was with child, but it all came crashing down when she found out that she had miscarried the child. Not only because she had lost the child and saddened not only herself but her husband as well, but also the fact that it caused her to loose contact once more with her brother.
When Lucas up and joined the SWAT team she found herself a bit stressed, though hiding all the negative emotions she was having behind that happy mask of hers, using her job as an outlet, just as he was. Only to later on find herself on the island with her husband.

She looked over at him and tried not to laugh as he crossed his arms, "well, is it really my fault that the water companies charge so much? The answer, no, it is not!"
He threw his hands up in the air and just let out a loud groan. "You are such an ass sometimes! Even when it's serious you find some way to joke!" He called and turned to storm off.
