Shrouded in Darkness: Vero (Delve vs. Viperon)

In the farthest reaches of the multi-verse Ruby Kalahari, the Empress to the Echelon Imperium, traveled alone to sanction planets with the Echelon faith. Atlas an intergalactic celestial spirit in the form of a sea turtle orbited the supergiant star of an unexplored solar system like a small pebble through space. On its back existed an ancient spiritual ground that belonged to House Kalahari long forgotten after the destruction of their home planet Sahure. The grounds covered one hundred and thirty yards across and sixty five yards in length on the turtle’s back. At the center of the grounds was a white marble fountain with ever flowing spiritual water that flowed through small canals made of the same stone, the canals were five inches apart with a one foot depth. Each canal formed a shape of an asterisk from a top view perspective from the center of the fountain until it flowed to the edge of Atlas’ shell falling back into the spiritual plane. A light blue glowing dome encompassed the top of the shell providing its own atmosphere and small clouds spiraled at its peak. There were small trees with deep turquoise leaves surrounding the entire perimeter each tree stood about six feet tall motioning with a slight breeze that seemed to permeate from the fountain of life itself.

There was one tree in particular that was much larger than the others almost four times in size that stood in the direction of Atlas’ neck. Some of its branches were old and petrified producing no turquoise leaves. At the base of tree Ruby Kalahari was sleeping in a curled up position. Even as years went by in Sahure Ruby was still a mere twenty years old trapped in the reaches of time and space. In her dreams she thought of her sister Xiria and her betrothed Zakuku--neither of them would have had enough spiritual power to find Atlas and she had hoped deep in her heart that they were safe. Ruby’s crimson eyes abruptly opened and searched her surroundings as her focus looked over to the fountain; she could feel the spiritual energy flow stronger than normal. The katars on her outer thighs began to radiate along with the echelon mark under her right eye belonging to her father, the previous Emperor of the Echelon Imperium.

“What is it father?”

Ruby stood up adjusting the ivory colored shawl that wrapped over her breasts in a cross and tied around her neck. Most of her tan skin was exposed with light blue echelons that covered every inch of her body like a tattoo with each echelon formation representing an ancestor in her entire family lineage. The charms attached to her matching ivory hip scarf began to jingle as Sandoval’s spiritual form stood before her.

“There is a planet in this solar system by the name of Vero that has many restless spirits who were initially banished to this planet for crimes for over a millennia. Trapped in the prime material plane with no ability to enter the spirit realm you must purify the spirits with Opplyse on behalf of the Echelon Faith.”

“Very well.”

Taking the katars from her thighs and into her hands Ruby focused her spiritual energy into the blades cutting into the air in a bright white ray of light. A tear appeared as the ray faded creating a gateway between Atlas and Vero. Ruby entered the gate way as her red eyes focused intently activating her precognition abilities in which she determined the planet was entirely a wasteland where no mortal being could survive in. A smile formed on her face as she stood in the very wasteland she had seen seconds ago. Spiritual energy began to spiral around her protecting her from the supergiant star’s radiation, the molten rock surface of the planet, and the toxic air of decay. Millions of spirits were mourning across the entire planet their screams and suffering echoed across the land of death in which only a follower of the Echelon faith would be able to witness such spirits with the exception of plane walkers. Even the animals that had once graced the land were roaming about without any direction and completely lost in a realm that sealed them to this planet. There was no sign of civilization left in the prime material plane except for a ruined city in the distance covered in darkness from the shadow plane that harbored the foul smell of immortal demons.

“Disgusting creatures.” Ruby began to walk towards the city as she sliced through all the spirits with the katars gathering all of them to add to her protective ward. The screams began subside the more she purified the area with the holy sacred ore forged blades. In a fluid movement her athletic arms extended out while her long straight dark brown hair flowed with the spiritual ward, a giant bead held the ends of her hair slowly became engraved with echelons that corresponded to the spirits of native animal species of Vero when it was once a prospering planet.
