“That‘s very generous of you to offer me a chance to spar with you. Night is quite a strange time to engage in sparing but I don’t mind.”

Magnum seemed oblivious to the not very subtly innuendo and in response to her sudden invasion of his personal space, he gave her a blissful childish smile.

"Alright. I think we can work something out if you can't stand my expenses. I am a mercenary, you know. I'll take your lead, dear."

A mercenary? While it did comfort him to know he now has the aid of a professional to protect him, what worried him was how he would pay her expenses. As of present, he has no way to reward her with the monetary gains befitting a mercenary however if his plan does succeed and he miraculously survives he will strive to stay true to his word. There was also the matter of informing her on why she was escorting him back into the city. Hopefully she was the type that didn’t mind not knowing all the finer details of her job. He really didn’t want to lie to the wonderful nightmarian that was risking her life to asset him on his suicide mission. Not informing her in advance was just as horrible as lying however he was afraid that she would decline him if he told her.

“Before we leave I need to do something. This will only take a few moments.”

He gently set down one of the handmaids on the grassy plain which immediately slumped backwards onto the ground once he released it from his grip. Kneeling down beside the fallen doll, he made a small barely noticeable hand gesture. The rope doll trembled as life flowed within it before rising from its grassy bed. It stood attentive awaiting a command from it’s father. Magnum leaned in to whsiper his crucial mission for his newly created solder. Once he finished the doll gave him a small nod of understanding and swiftly made its way back into the depths of the catacombs.

Feeling satisfied he made the universal hand signal for follow and flashed a smile at Mercy as he walked towards the chaotic battlefield that was once named Gia.

“May I have your name? I’m Magnum Albedo.”
