Druid watched his lifelines leave Null's room. Druid sat on Null's bedside, staring at the report on the table. Were there things he wanted to know? Yes. Like, were there any other Druid's left? It was always in the back of his mind, but the whispers of nature always calmed those emotional scars.
"I.. I have to go." Druid looked longingly at the report but decided his friends scoured the report. He was late for his meeting with McCoy.
Druid entered his room and the hairs on his body stood on end, his hands curled into white-knuckled fists. They were in his room. Doctors who took samples, malicious, callous, evil scientists. They fucked with his sanctuary! Druid heard footsteps from the hallway. Probably more coming to abuse the plants. Heh, not if Druid could help his.
Druid kicked the door by its frame, splitting tinder and making the door swing outward on broken hindges. Yes.. I'll hurt them back..
Maria.. They took Maria away just like they took the other Druids away, that's when they started turning into trees, after they were wiped. Did they still live? Would they kill Maria too?
Druid's face was a mask of fury. He stepped out to look for his target, his enemy, the blight to his plants.
McCoy stood 5 feet away holding a clipboard in one hand, a pencil in the other with his glasses perched on the end of his nose. "Well, well, come on... what's the matter Druid?" McCoy had stopped in the hallway, he was looking at the specimen before him, anger fuming from his posture and how red he was, but his eyes were a little lost, confused.
"McCoy..? I.." Druid looked behind him at the barrier between his room and the hallway. The anger was gone. All of it, but he felt the same buz of energy coming from his room that had filled him. He turned to McCoy, his eyes were filling with tears, "they killed Maria.. and burned my plants.. They're.." /They're angry.. The plants?/ Druid looked at his room with fear for the first time.
"Druid? Are you listening to me? You have to come with me or go with them," McCoy's voice said from behind Druid.
Them? Druid looked past McCoy to the fully armed, specimen takedown squad. Druid knew it was them that did it, he would always remember how tall they are, how heavy and how they smelled. Even their malicious behaviour. "I'l go with you, McCoy.." Druid hung his head. His emotions were wire-taught. Maria was gone, so are his brothers and sisters, Fel hated him and Aiden was fighting for his humanity.
It was six hours later, the procedure to reinstall the hardware inside of him was complete. Druid was kept conscious during the prodecure, recommended by McCoy. Druid never screamed out, but that could have been because of the sedative. /Make me numb,/ Druid thought. Tomorrow he would collect the angry vines and help Felicity. He would spend the next day emptying his room completely, waste not a flower.
"McCoy! He's falling asleep!"
"Quickly, the adrenali-"
Druid was left dreaming about a forest coming to life with exotic trees swaying like they were alive, dancing on the wind. "What's 'wind'?" He whispered to no one, but he got an answer. Air rushed over his cheek, mimicing wind. That woke Druid with a jump, but when he looked around he was in McCoy's lab cell where patients who were disbehaving or sedated were kept. /My imagination's getting to me./ He tried not to think that he was losing his mind by pretending it never happened.
