"Well, I guess that's true," Kaori said, looking away. Yuuki's voice was so neutral that it was hard to tell whether or not he was trying to poke fun at him. Yawning, Kaori ran a hand through his hair again and decided that it was time to clean himself up.

"Anyways, I'm going to make myself presentable," he said, walking past Ren and Yuuki, and crossing the living room. He then continued down the short hallway that led further into the apartment and turned on his first right. The bathroom was small, hardly big enough for the three guys sharing it, but at least it was always clean. The fact that it had less clutter made it feel bigger than it really was. Kaori turned on the tap, adjusted the temperature of the water, and then splashed it over his face, sighing as it warmed his skin. Once he was done scrubbing, he grabbed a cloth and dried himself off. Then he ran a brush through his hair, letting his mind wander.

He wondered vaguely how Maaka was doing. It had been two weeks since he'd last seen her and, other than the hurried text messages they'd exchanged, he had no idea what she was up to these days. He made a mental note to contact her as soon as possible so that they could get together. Maybe he could even invite his brother... Kaori's hand jerked and the brush tore mercilessly at his hair. It hadn't done much damage, but the pain was enough to bring his mind back from the dangerous direction it had been headed. His fingers curled around the edges of the sink. He couldn't let himself think about his family, not if he wanted to be happy.

Kaori tossed the brush into a small basket sitting next to the sink and walked out of the room.
