Evelyn's heart almost broke at the sight of his tears. "I'm so, so sorry. I didn't realize it was such a touchy subject." She leaned forward slowly, almost painfully so, and hugged him, hoping to make some of the pain go away. "Please don't cry." She begged softly. Her brothers were such cry-babies that she'd gotten used to seeing tears, but it never stopped her from the pang of pity in her chest. She leaned back. "Forgive me for acting compulsivly." At least her mother had taught her some form of manners.
