Sable waited until everyone had cleared out, then took a deep breath. Maybe she should tell them that this was hard for her, that her shields didn't always stay. It would be bad for them to reply on something that could falter, wouldn't it? But then, what good would it do to simply say as much and be done with it? If Azure was telling her to protect Ivory and shield the door, then it needed to be done, and she certainly had a better shot than the poor unconscious girl.

Fine then. No complaints, just do it. Her barrier would hold because it had to. That in mind, she placed one squarely over the entranceway, just a bit larger than a tall person would be. Not the ideal size for strength, but better than having to defend something huge, and therefore manageable for them moment. Sable braced both of her bare feet firmly on the chilly concrete beneath them, wondering idly for a moment why every place she had to go wound up being so cold. It didn't bother her, particularly; her body temperature was on the higher end, but she wasn't Citrine, who could walk out in the middle of winter in a short-sleeved shirt and be fine.

Slender, pale arms trembled just a bit as she held them straight out in front of her, willing the black wall she'd created to be solid as possible. Technically, standing like this didn't help anything, but it made it easier to focus, and for that she was fine with feeling a little silly.

The body of something- a MagiSpawn, she supposed- hit the barrier with force, and Sable flinched, but the barrier held steady. Apparently, the thing was not willing to give up though, and several more impacts, each heavier than the last, brought the small girl to her knees. Whatever was pounding on the door was massive, probably twice her size at least, and the repeated pressure was almost too much. It was clear to her that the shield wouldn't hold for too much longer, so Sable had to act fast. Timing would be crucial.

Letting her barrier wall weaken so that the thing would crash through much more easily than it was expecting, she focused instead on creating another shield, this one about the size of her hand. The concentrated energy crackled with scant-contained power, but she forced it to be smaller still, so that it was about the size of a golf ball.

The opaque force field shattered, admitting half of a MagiSpawn too big to actually fit all the way through the door. Holding her breath, Sable took careful aim, and released the ball of energy. The blowback was more than she'd planned on, and sent her hair and dress back with force almost enough to knock her over, though it was clear that the MagiSpawn got the worst of it.

The creature howled piteously, as a hole appeared in its chest, having passed straight through the entirety of its body, and the massive creature stumbled backwards before collapsing, very clearly dead. Without stopping to think, Sable erected a new shield over the now-empty doorway, hoping that at the very least, the sight of it would be enough to deter any more attacks.

She tried very hard to ignore the sick feeling in her stomach that had immediately assaulted her upon the realization that she had ended a life, no matter what kind.
