Matthew watched Elena as she stopped at the fountain. Something about it seemed familiar to him, but more so for Elena. He then noticed an old building at the side by the fountain. Matthew walked over to the abandoned building. He thought he heard something, and turned around. He didn't see anything, and turned back to the door, opening it. Just then he saw a skeleton with a wooden stake right where the heart would be pinned to a column in the middle of the room. The room itself had all sorts of boxes. He went over and looked at the stake.

He turned around, and thats when he saw a short glimpse. He had run in here with a crossbow. A vampire was right behind him. He was going to tell Elena/Katrina something. Just then the vampire caught up to him, but he managed to surprise it with his crossbow and kill it. And he said softly "Idiot vampire".

Matthew looked back to Elena, seeing if she was still looking around. Thats when he noticed something on the ground. It was a note with the numbers 3, 7, and 4. Matthew put it in his pocket and went back to Elena and Vanessa.
