The Forest outside the Kingdom of Light

When the fight broke out, there had been nothing magical Ray could do unless Yule was with him- he could weave magic as well as any if only he had her supply to rely on- and he didn't. So he drew his sword, refraining against his gutteral instinct to scream a battle cry as he charged. They must be silent, for if they weren't their fight would gather a crowd. It was over quickly.
Ray intersperced with the group of others, panting quietly, but he knew he could go on for much longer. One of the advanteges, perhaps the only one, of travelling for so long, as he had. He nodded at the Ivory girl when she pulled out a map, chatting almost silently to others in the group, discussing the possible paths. But he broke off from talking when the young boy with the strange aura emerged from the shadows. Ray nodded at him and then glanced in the forest. He raised his voice as Ivory's question hung in the air.
"I might have a way. It wouldn't involve magic, really, or anything that the Witch might detect, and it would cut down our travel time by about a day and a half."
His eyes caught that of the cougar-cat's in the shadows and he blinked.
