"Oh come on, Kaylee! It'll be fun. An adventure."

"No, not right now. It's all just a media stunt anyways, you know that."
"Not a media stunt. Haven't you heard the history of that place? It's haunted, a lot."

"Folklore. And yes, I have heard it. We all have. But I'm still not going."
"Then I'll just go."

"...Shit."

Kaylee was following after her sister, Serenity, and it was the only real reason she tracked steps up to Himuro Mansion. The path the twins walked on was small, narrow, and winding to their destination.
It was dark though, late at night, so her visibility was ultimately limited.

Crunch, crunch, crunch.
The sound of black boots hitting the ground echoed through the empty, still air. It was quiet there, eerily so, but her ears still went attuned to the sound of wind brushing leaves together. Kaylee didn't mind adventure, she wasn't an up-tight person, but most of the time journeys were brought on by her sister. Serenity could never wait to get going somewhere, to explore something, to hug every curve ball that was thrown at them.
Kaylee loved her to death, but sometimes a little guide lines had to be put down.

Pace slowing, her blue eyes lifted from the ground to a new aspect of scenery. A bridge; and an old ratty one at that, but it fit in with the age of the house. Decay was present in several spots, but what she caught note of was a black hole that cursed the boards.
Someone must have jumped down too hard on it and fell in. Or their foot just fell through.
It was to be expected that anyone going there would find obvious signs of others before them. After all, news headlines caught the eyes of more than just her and her sister.

Dusk clouded the definite appearance of the object, but she was sure the bridge was moving. It was jumping, swaying with momentum in numerous directions.
The wind is not that strong... Not now at least.
Having been deep in aimless thought resulted in the grasp of Kaylee's common sense dulling. Laughter; no, the wind was only a slight breeze amongst them.

"Serenity!"
What was she doing? Well, that was a hell of a question. Didn't her sister realize the age of the bridge? It was about to give way any second, due to her jumping on it. It wouldn't break off entirely, like in the movies, but she didn't want her twin to go falling from either the bridge failing, or her flying off the edge.

"Sorry Kaylee, I guess it wouldn't do any good if I were dead!"
A smile faded onto her features; Serenity was the kind of person that made Kaylee smile a lot. No, if her sister were to die then her soul would go along with her.Three deaths in their lifetimes had already been plagued, her sanity was strong, but without the other half she couldn't tell you what would happen.

Creak. Numerous amounts of the sound rang out when she stepped across the bridge, following once more after Serenity, who'd already managed to be a few feet ahead.

A shinto gate was the next thing to come clearly out of the slight shadowy objects. It was beautiful all alone, and Kaylee had always admired them. They had a spiritual purpose, and a deep one, but if anything else aesthetically they were engaging.
But what lay on the foreground of the location was almost nothing compared to what was behind it.

Himuro Mansion.

Stopping, she gazed on in awe at the structure for a few seconds, feet resting beside where her twin stood. It was huge in both width and height, and she wasn't very surprised it still stood.
Well, most of it still stood.
Moving closer to the massive front doors, it was visible that a lot of physical damage had been done. Natural, mostly, but no graffiti was present. This she was glad of, but she knew it was because most kids that did that either didn't have the heart to go up there and defile history, or it just gave them the creeps. She guessed more were on the latter.

The building its self was isolated away from the rest of the town, a perfect misanthropist's haven in its own like. It was still reachable in a reasonable amount of time from their home, though, so they didn't exactly have to undergo a hike.

Serenity had a flashlight which flickered along the pathway, casting a white circle of light upon the terrain. Since her sister had already brought a flashlight, which she had made sure to change new batteries into before they left, Kaylee carried her own small black backpack. Equipped in it was a small bottle filled with water, a rag surrounding that incase it leaked, and her professional camera, of which she took pride into. The camera was brought along to take pictures of the place; if they were going there anyways, might as well document some of it.

Scuff, scuff.
Kaylee looked to her sister from where her eyes had been, glancing towards the trees, to see her kicking the door.
Crossing her arms, she ultimately watched in speculation as the twin tried literally everything manageable to open the door. Her ultimate reaction was of shock, but it faded away to more of a relief. Yes, she was relieved the wood didn't give way to the kicking or prying; she would have been upset if they'd broken. Why?
Well, surrounding the door were these stunning and intricate designs. It must have taken the original builders extremely long to finish just the designs by themselves.
The wood was strong, probably due to good quality, because she would have actually expected them to open with ease after sitting there for so long.

"Oh for shits sake, now we can’t even go through the front door."
Serenity spoke, turning back to her sister.

"There has to be another door somewhere. We can check the back."
Every building, including their home, has two doors. An entrance and one to presumably a backyard. She hoped the Mansion was no exception.
Turning towards where they had come from, she started to walk along the side of the house towards the back, and only a few moments had passed before Serenity was leaping after her. The length of the house was no disappointment from the additional structural aspects otherwise.

Trees guarded around the land as if as a wall, and the consistency of vegetation varied from stable, to blotches, to patches of none at all. But in the end it all blended in to the environment everywhere else in Japan.
Her hand lifted, tucking a piece of her dark brunette hair behind her ear before she spoke, "Any doors back here?"
Kaylee stopped, looking to as the flashlights beam bounced around the outskirts of the wall, moving as her sister did. Advancing forwards she stopped only a few feet away from her before a reply was spoken, "Are you kidding me! How does a building as huge as this only have one fricking door?"

It'd taken them time to walk all the ways to the back of the house, and all the effort would be wasted if she dragged an excited sixteen year-old twin all the way back again.
"Well..."

Kaylee slipped the black backpack from her shoulders, setting it on the ground before she kneeled down in front of it. The cloth surrounding the water bottle was easy to locate in the pack, considering it was one of three possibilities.
Wrapping it around her right hand, she watched as the light's beam flicked along the wall, exposing a window.
All the glass was basically broken, and the surface was covered with partly ripped paper, but it was easily in her arms reach.
She walked up to the window, punching the remaining weak glass from the inside frame before putting the cloth back and replacing her pack on her shoulders.
"We have to start somewhere."

Rip. Her hand tore down the strips of paper attempting to conceal the indoors, before her fingers gripped along the left and right edges of the frame.
With a grunt, and momentum from her foot pushing against the outside wall, Kaylee pulled herself in. The pristine calculations were flawed though, because her boot moving though the frame quickly caught onto it, tripping her into the empty room.
She landed on her bottom, so all was ok except for a slightly but temporarily sore tailbone. Getting up from where she stood, her hand brushed the back of her pants off from the dust-covered floor, and her eyes looked blindly around the black room.
Darkness made it impossible for her to see anything, and the little light streaming in through the window didn't assist in any way.

"Come on, Serenity, your turn." A smile cracked on her lips again, and her head turned back towards the window.
