Angel’s first day had proven quite hectic during his move into the dormitory. It seems that despite Arkham’s size that the Hispanic population was still near to non-existent in the area, and he had met with quite a few hard stares and ever some harsh words while he was trying to find his room. These were just some harsh realities of life for an immigrant, and Angel had been faced with such obstacles his entire life. As he saw it he had as much a right to be here as anybody else.

Not all the students were as critical of Angel and his father though, and a kindly instructor had pointed him in the right direction when he stopped to ask politely. Angel’s accent was still apparent, but it was nowhere near as bad as others in his family who did not have the same talent for speaking foreign tongues, and sometimes it helped when others it stopped. It had only taken an hour for the two of them to move his small amount of furniture to his downstairs room.

He had brought a black-cushioned futon with an auburn-colored wood frame with several emerald green pillows, a white sheet, and a thick white cover that has the Mexican flag emblazoned on the front that he had folded up and put in a corner of his half of the room. At the foot of the futon, and set about two-feet off from its base, he placed a medium-sized black desk with a towel folded and sitting on one half with a dark brown lamp that has a light brown shade on the other half. On the towel sat an electric burner with a wok placed on top for his cooking needs.

Two shelves had been placed above the desk, the bottom one being used for his cooking utensils and fire extinguisher that the university had politely asked for him to have nearby, and on the top shelf he placed all of his school books that he would need for the impending classes. To keep the smoke from ruining any of his literature Angel always made sure to pull his desk out at least two feet from the back wall. Hopefully his roommate, whoever they would be, would not object to his cooking.

While his father was still around they had also taken the liberty mounting a mid-size television on the wall with a cord connecting it to a DVD player placed on the far-side of the lower shelf above his desk. By it there could be counted around ten videos of yoga exercises varying from beginner to advanced experience levels and ranging from twenty minutes to an hour-and-a-half that he liked to use on different days. His days always began and ended with these exercises.

After finishing with the move into the dormitory Angel’s father, Fernando, embraced his son and left for his motel room in the town. Luckily their company had just landed a contract at the school’s generator plant, and while it was not a very large contract it would keep his father in town for a month before having to return back to Texas. This would at least allow him some companionship with coworkers and his father should he not find any friendly company in the University.

As the door to his new room closed Angel decided it best to flop down on the futon and relax for a short while; he might even take a nap if the mood hit him. Doing this helped him to relax and focus on his breathing, sort of practicing a mini-meditation that would ease him into his new surroundings, but as he lay there his mind began wandering to the ensuing semester and what campus-life would be like for him. For some reason it seemed odd that, despite a university of this size, Miskatonic had a relatively small student-to-professor ratio, but for whatever the reason that may be he decided it best to not focus on such things and drift off to sleep.
