By noontime Angel’s first day on campus had been rather uneventful. It had begun at six in the morning so that he could center his mind and body with a vigorous yoga routine to help shake off the prying fingers of sleep, and after his shower he had gather up his books for his first two classes in the day, Ancient History and Physics, so that he could sample the cafeteria food at the Herbert West Student Union. At the time there was a decent number of collegiate waiting in line and eating the meager, but not altogether un-delightful, cuisine offered by the staff. His plate loaded with scrambled eggs, toast, and oatmeal had gone down rather quickly with the box of orange juice he had snagged along the way, and soon he was off again towards the Ashley-Delapore Hall of History located not far from the Student Union.

This first class had been dull, but that was probably to be expected for the first day of class so that the professors could discuss course-guidelines and expectations, yet Angel assumed that this professor Ferdinand C. Ashley, who was supposedly a knight, seemed rather draconian with certain rules that had one student booted from class almost immediately. This act had served to demonstrate just how seriously the students needed to take this professor, but to Angel it seemed more appropriate to consider the fact that there might be one less student in the class who could take up the professor’s time. Unfortunately the rest of their time afterwards was devoted to examining the course syllabus and taking note of which pages to have read for their next session.

The walk from the Hall of History proved to invigorate Angel who had already grown slightly bored and tired after his first class. On the way towards the Tillinghast Science Center he took note of several police officers roaming around the school grounds, but as to why they were there he merely shrugged off as some routine patrol arranged by the campus to keep some semblance of authority presence. It turned out that his physics class proved even duller than ancient history the teacher proved much more relaxed that Sir Ashley had been and did not even need to have a student leave from class discussion. Once again they discussed the class and district syllabus whilst noting pages and several other books the professor deemed may be useful in the days ahead.

Luckily he had scheduled his school day so that physics ended at eleven and his final class on this day, philosophy, would not begin until one-thirty, which gave him plenty of time to talk into town and find a local grocery store from which he could purchase some food for lunch. After a package of chicken, an orange bell pepper, green onions, mushrooms, linguini, and several other amenities needed for cooking and cleaning he remember how hot it was outside and just how quickly the food might spoil. After glancing around through the ice chests he finally decided on one with a handle and wheels, and after filling it with a bag of ice so that he could keep his food chilled Angel began wheeling his purchases back towards campus.

The whole trip into and back from town had not taken but an hour, leaving him thirty minutes to prepare the meal and another thirty to consume what he needed. After finishing a light lunch he placed the leftovers in a covered bowl and placed it container delicately in the ice chest while using the rooms sink to clean his utensils and plate, taking care to clean the plates of any solid debris and disposing of it in the trash before commencing with the dishwashing. After noting the time, one-fifteen, Angel decided it best to be off to find his next class, which would no doubt prove to dull his senses even further with more syllabi that pretty-much all said the same things. It was almost like safety-orientation for jobsites that he worked, but with one major difference between the two, the orientations were better, at least you were getting paid to listen.
