~Eliza Whittaker

Eliza had to leave the crime scene before finding out anything, or she would risk being late to her drawing class. She went through the two-and-a-half hour class like it was nothing, accepting the assignments, then losing herself to her art. The class was over before she knew it and her perfectionist nature had gotten her through only one-third of the project. Fortunately, that was all that was assigned, the other students still had one-third of their drawings, but they were almost all still sketched outlines. Eliza didn't draw rough outlines, all of the lines she drew stayed unless they were crooked or otherwise imperfect.

She stood from her seat and stretched, a couple of people commented on her hair and her World of Warcraft hooded sweatshirt. She thanked them and bade them farewell before slinging her DeathNote satchel over her shoulder and heading out the door.

Outside the air had turned even more brisk and she pulled the hood up over her head. This was the last class of the day and she headed over to a game and hobby shop she had found on her second day on campus. After perusing the various miniatures and card games she purchased two dragon minis and headed back to her dorm by way of a food court for a sandwich, chips, and a drink. Her roommate, Brook, had arrived the day after Eliza and, though she tried to hide it, was apparently thrilled that Eliza had all of her things on one side of the room. She was very picky and kept her things to herself, being polite to Eliza but Eli could tell she had already been judged and sentenced.

Eliza entered her dorm room, ducking under Brook's line of vision to the television she had set on a shelf on the wall. There was no way to miss whose side of the room was whose, Brook had decorated in bright colours, mostly green and blue. Her desk was littered with pictures of various vacations and her boyfriend and friends. Nothing was laid out perfectly, but it definitely wasn't a mess. Eliza had hung up a Fruits Basket wall scroll and a few pictures of friends and favourite characters from shows, movies, video games and books. Everything was set out neatly. Eliza had a touch of the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, but not enough to rearrange her roommate's things, she was only worried about her own.

She stretched out on her bed, belly down, and pulled out her reading glasses and a copy of Dracula. The book was hard to read for her, it wasn't written like a book, more like a series of letters from one character to another. Eliza had a hard time following it and this was her second attempt at getting through it. The daylight waned and night descended, Brook took out her earphones and laid her textbook on the table beside her bed, then curled up beneath the bed covers. Eliza adjusted her lamp so that less light would fall on her sleeping roommate.
