"Come on! Hurry up! The Hunters should be on us anytime soon now!" Kyle grinned as he just barely caught the voice of the wolf girl far ahead in front of him. He was hanging towards the back of the group--not because he was a slow runner, but because he wanted to see that nobody else would fall behind and get caught. It might seem selfless of him to risk getting caught for the sake of others, but in reality, he knew there wasn't a chance he'd get caught. He was just doing this for the sake of a sense of safety. He would help another if they fell behind sure, but he wasn't going to literately risk his own freedom for that sake. He kept telling himself he wouldn't have to though.
He watched as the avian flew up to the top of the oversized wall. Kyle came to a stop, bouncing from foot to foot as he stared up at the guards nervously. They were just now catching on and scrambling for their weapons. Crap, crap. He couldn't just stand here and do nothing while those behind them were closing the gap and those in front of them aimed their deadly weapons. But what else could he do but wait impatiently for the gates to be unlocked? C'mon, c'mon! "Take your time! No rush!" he called up to the winged boy, glaring as his heart beat quickly in his chest. They couldn't just risk getting this far and not escaping. That would be useless.
