This was insane. Charlotte was no demon. She was an actress - and a damn good one at that. Not some evil being sent from Hell to do...whatever it is demons do. And Greed? How dare he say that! Greed was something so ugly, so...unrefined. She considered herself to be ambitious and sure, she liked shopping and buying material possessions but that doesn't mean she's a demon!
Unbeknownst to Charlotte it was her greed that kept her rooted to the spot. Lord Cain was offering her and the others a large sum of money. But for what? Nothing is just handed to you like that. Charlotte was put off by the man's speech but intrigued by the proposal. It couldn't hurt to know a bit more about the situation, right? Besides, if this man was going to go around calling her a demon of greed she might as well find out why.
"I'm not saying I believe you for an instant, Sir," she kept her voice level and curt, "But I'm listening. Go on..."
