Aspen frowned at the others, and internally scolded himself. He had hurt them, what kind of leader was he? He was so ashamed of himself. Especially when he saw how Terra reacted. He was closest to Terra, and he seemed to have hurt her some how, but he wondered why she acted so angry?
He looked at Ellis and passed him a silent apology, sent through his eyes, then quickly looked away as he left. Then, Ellis returned, holding s snowy white avian mutant feathers. βThey are escaping; what should we do, leader?β Aspen looked away, he didn't deserve to be their leader, and they knew it, or at least, he though they knew it.
He stared at the shards as if they could give him answers, and when they didn't his frown deepened.βShall we have lunch like you planned on, does everyone agree on a meal like you desire?β Aspen shot a glare up at Ellis, but then erased the venom from it when he realized what he had done. He hated getting angry at his "brother and sisters", and he always tried to be a good leader and keep the piece, though this mission was slowly breaking him down.
"This isn't the time." He muttered, "you and Luna go on ahead, track the mutants and kill them." His voice revealed no emotion, though each word he said filled him with pain. He took a deep breath and looked towards Terra's door, his voice cracked with the slightest bit of fear, "I'll try to calm Terra down." He said, shuddering slightly, "we'll be right behind you...that is if Terra doesn't kill me."
Aspen walked over to Luna and kissed her forehead, like an older brother would, and then to Ellis and patted his shoulder. "You two be careful. Don't be reckless. " He instructed in a stern voice, "and," he smiled the slightest bit, "leave some of them for us?"
He shot a glance at Terra's door again and looked back at Ellis and Luna, mouthing the words, 'wish me luck', before heading over to Terra's room. He took a deep breath and opened the door, without knocking, something that he might regret. He closed the door behind himself and stood there, looking at Terra with eyes that had gone back to their sparkling blue color. Aspen smiled at Terra, his best, most dazzling smile and whispered,
"Don't hit me, I'm just here to talk."
