Mark helped the monks gather the weapons from the shed. He listened intently to the plan. All he had to do was run in the field. He wanted to ask so many questions. What if the creature came up behind them? What if it didn't chase him? What if it caught him before he could draw it to the drum? What if the fuel didn't catch fire? He kept them all to himself. He was afraid if he started asking the fear would get the better of him and he would back out.

Brother Winthrow sat stoically as the other monks discussed who would throw the torches and take care of the other various details. He tried to quiet the questions and find some peace. As the plan was laid out, Mark simply focused on his job. As the discussion wrapped up the monks went to douse the areas of the field. Mark knelt in the dirt and began to pray and meditate. He did so until one of the monks came to get him, they were ready.

Mark stood, looked out across the field and simply walked out. He made his way into the open expanse and turning his back to where the brothers and the drum waited, he yelled for the creature. "Alright, come on! Where are you?"
