"Where is my brother?" Jessica questioned. "I don't see him!" Her strong elegant fingers reached out grab Duke's arm, but her hand was snatched away by the other Lefebvre brother.

"Jessica, there isn't much time." Abel nodded to let his brother know that he had things under control. He didn't relinquish her wrist, but dragged her along with him down the docks.

"Where is my brother, Abel, where?!" she demanded, snatching her wrist away from him. "Don't tell me you abandoned him in that place!"

He made eye contact with her briefly before kneeling down by the edge of the dock retrieving the supplies. He passed some of it along to her. She took it in her arms without protest, but continued to glare at him with eyes that demanded an answer.

'Abel Lefebvre!" she said louder.

He shushed her. "Are you mad, woman? Would you have us spotted and executed on the spot?!"

"Answer me."

He grabbed the last of the supplies under his arm and climbed back up. With regretful eyes he placed a palm on her shoulder. "I'm sorry, but he's dead."

Her eyes acted as a window. First their windows displayed surprise, then sorrow and finally fury. Burning tears streamed down her cheeks as the supplies she held dropped down on to the wooden boards. Her hands balled into fist that began pounding on the youngest Lefebvre's brother's chest. "Don't lie to me! Don't lie to me!" Her wailings turned to sobs. Abel grabbed her by the arm curtly.

"Calm yourself. We'll mourn him properly. Just not here." He retrieved the fallen supplies from the ground quickly tucking it under his arms and pulling her along with him. "Now, we must escape or his death will mean nothing." She protested the entire time he dragged her to the ship where he'd departed from Duke. bBy the time they reached the ship, she'd become quieter. Her skin was as pale as corpse's.
