Marrik watched quietly as Hari Cal had submitted before him, it was more than he had asked for, and he could see it hurt the young warrior's pride. This moved Marrik, had the roles been reversed it would have been just as hard for him to do what Hari had done. Deciding not to let this be a moment of shame for the younger man, Marrik lowered himself to Hari's level, and with a grin he lifted the gunlance and laid it across his lap.
"I have always admired this particular weapon, my life was once saved by a great hunter, miles from my league... even as it stands today, he carried a Gunlance just as you do." Hari Cal's weapon was old, possibly older than Hari himself, the fact that it still worked showed the great care that was taken while it was forged. It was heavy, most of it being solid iron, not something he would want to be burdened with while hunting, but every hunter has their own affinity towards their style of weapon, and Hari would probably be far less clumsy with it than himself.
Allowing for a moment of brief silence before standing again, hefting the lance and allowing it to fold back into it's compact state. He took a quick look around, the villagers continued to watch the the two, and Joo-Eun stood by his sword and gear, he couldn't see her expression from where he was standing but he was certain she wasn't as disappointed with him as she had been before. She was tired before the whole thing started and his drama was keeping her from her bed. With the adrenaline gone, Marrik realized just how cold it was outside, his fingers were blue and his teeth began to chatter lightly.
"We've both acted like fools this eve, these people should be indoors, hell I should be indoors, I think I may be two shades from hypothermia at this point." Marrik wasn't sure if Hari would have taken his hand if he had extended it to help him up, so instead he looped his arm under Hari's and brought him to his feet. He handed the Gunlance back in a way that almost looked ceremonial, taking care to respect the weapon. "If you aren't too sore about this tomorrow, I would like to train with you and your lance." He turned to walk away but stopped himself, having one last thing on his mind, with his back still turned he spoke.
"Don't bow to me again, You'll be hunting in the big leagues soon, and that makes us equals as far as I'm concerned."
Leaving him with that to think about, Marrik departed for his things. As he was collecting them he looked to Joo-Eun, he couldn't quite bring himself to look her in the eye after he had made an ass of himself, but still spoke. "I'm sorry, this probably wasn't how you wanted your first visit home in years to turn out, I'll find a way to make it up to you." With his sword sheathed and armor collected, he silently left the scene for the house, disappearing behind the door.
