Angel should have learned by now: whenever things seemed to be looking up for the crew of the Daedalus, that was when all hell broke loose. And this was no exception to that rule. She had just begun launching herself forward for the next attack when a blast of energy sent her tumbling to the deck, head spinning slightly. 'What the devil...?' Shaking her head, she sat up in time to see the Red Cloth she'd been fighting shoot a burst of flames from his palm, forcing the robot to release his comrade. No, wait a moment...he was holding some kind of crystal, one unlike anything she'd ever seen before. Back in her live of leisure, her adopted family had possessed all manner of jewels and gemstones, but this was obviously different, design for function rather than fashion. What kind of otherworldly magic was this? Did the Red Cloth have other weapons like this? If so, it was going to take a lot more than a few mercenaries and a ship with some admittedly unique features to take down this group before they caused more damage.

No sooner had the lookout scrambled to her feet than she realized their attackers were beating a hasty retreat back to their own vessel. Where were they going in such a hurry? They clearly had the upper hand at the moment, thanks to their fancy crystals. Why choose now of all times to leave? She supposed she should be happy that they were gone, but something felt off about this whole thing. She found out soon enough just what that was as she turned to find an unfamiliar face behind her, jumping back and holding up her knife in defense against what could potentially be a new enemy. As it turned out, though, her fears were in vain. The other girl claimed to be a prisoner, and her outfit and lack of weapons seemed to confirm that. Besides which, she looked somewhat familiar. Where had Angel seen that face before....?

That mystery would have to wait, as the news the escapee brought with her was anything but comforting. "Whoa, wait a second, did you just say 'bomb'!?"
As if to answer that question, the deck beneath their feet gave a treacherous lurch while everyone standing on it struggled to keep their footing. The Half-Blood's face paled as she saw the smoke up from below deck. "Oh, shit!" Completely forgetting about the other girl, Angel raced to the door and flew down the flight of stairs, ignoring the heat and smoke as she fought her way toward the engine room. What she saw when she got there was not a pretty picture, especially not for an airship in the middle of open sky. Half of the steam tanks had burst apart, and were now little more than scraps of metal and shrieking pipes. And from the looks of it, the damage wasn't over yet. Brown eyes widened as she heard frantic beeping, more likely than not a bomb than had yet to go off. Slamming the door to the engine room only did so much to dull the blast, and Angel was flung backward down the hallway by the sheer force of it. Ears ringing and panic rising in her chest, the girl quickly climbed to her feet and hurried back to the stares, yelling up to whoever was left in the crew. "Somebody get down here!! The engines are fried, we're probably minutes away from dropping out of the sky!"
