Noah anxiously awaited with open hands for the envelope to be dropped in his hands. As the teacher was making his way around the room, he took a look around at those who already received theirs. Some looked nervous and almost unwilling to check the name inside. Some had already opened it and seen the name, looking lost and confused by the name inside. There were a couple that look excited about the one chosen for them, but then there were just an equal amount that looked disappointed even. As for Noah, he was excited. He wanted to see who the lucky one was who got to be graced with his adorable presence.
Finally, the envelope was handed to him. By this point, Noah was practically bouncing out of his seat with joy--even though he hadn't even opened it up to read the name yet. Just the fact that this was happening was exciting. This wasn't boring at all! It was exciting. Why couldn't some of these depressing people realize that? With a shrug, he tore the envelope open and slipped the name out, closing his eyes and taking a breath to calm himself. When he opened his eyes, he read the words across the paper and grinned.
Mika Tanaka
His grin never faded as he continued to stare at the paper and read the name over and over again. "I have absolutely no idea who this is," he said cheerily to himself. He shook the stupid look off his face and glanced around the room. There were plenty of girls in the class--and Mika was obviously a girl's name. Well, Noah supposed it could be a dude's name if the guy had parents who hated him.So nobody was coming to mind. He didn't recognize any of these people and, evene more, he'd never spoken to a single one of them. He meant to, he really had, but when he got to class the envelopes were being passed out and he just got so excited, he forgot. Sighing lightly to himself, he mentally hoped whoever this was wasn't a drag. That would just be the absolute worst. He'd file for divorce right away, before they even got married. Tch, marriage was over-rated anyway. He wasn't here for that. He was here to mess things up, to flirt it up with some people! Yeah, so the fiance-pairing thing was a nice extra feature, but he didn't really care about Mika anyway. He cared about Mika and Bobby and Lucy and Sarah and Gene and all these other people--whatever their names were. He bet he could get every single one of them.
Deciding he wasn't going to meet his supposed soul-mate by sitting around gawking, Noah pushed himself up to his feet and scanned the crowd of teens. He started with the desk closest to him, leaning over it and propping his chin up with his hand. He met the eyes of the boy who called out asking for the name of some girl Lily or something. "You can call me whatever you wanna," he said, snickering. "You wouldn't happen to know a Mika Tanaka, would you?" His grin widened. "Could it be you? It is such a cuute name for a guy, after all." Okay, so that was a bit of a lie. Noah thought it was an embarrassing name for a guy, and he highly doubted Mika was this kid, but there was only one way to figure these things out and so that was what he was doing.
