Xei waited patiently with a smile for his future bride to approach. As he waited he looked around and took a moment to admire the beauty of the Ballroom and smiled at several groups of young women watching him and the others as they began to congregate in front of the High King. The strange young man from before stood not more than ten feet away, waiting for his new bride to be to come forth as well, and when a brightly colored and highly spirited young woman came forth to take her place beside him, Xei inwardly laughed to himself.

The poor boy is betrothed to a beautiful, but energetic young woman. I doubt that he'll be able to keep up with her in the slightest, though it would probably make for a good laugh if he tried anyway. He thought to himself.

Moments later, a gorgeous young woman with bright pink hair came forth and removed her mask. She took her place beside him and gave him a look that practically screamed, "why me?". Xei smiled to her warmly, and bowed his head to show her respects.

Inside he was laughing uncontrollably. His bride to be was a serious young woman who would more than likely begin to hate him if she found out about his pranks, which made him all the more determined to make them count while he could for she would likely kill him if she found out he was behind them.

"Greetings my lady, my name is Xei. I am the Prince of Airis, a land founded in the seas. I hope sincerely that the two of us will get along well, as a country can only succeed if its rulers are as one with each other and their people." He said in a casual but happy tone.

This is going to be veeeeeeeery interesting. He thought to himself.

Kordoshi had noticed the man from before looking over at him and he scowled back, letting him know he didn't appreciate the man's eyes on him. His attention was drawn away, however, as a beautiful and tall young woman suddenly appeared by his side.

The thing that he noticed first were her eyes. They were amazing, and somewhat captivating to him. The way the colors swirled and mixed in green and gold at first looked almost fake, but they were very real and he was taken aback by her appearance as she stood beside him with a smile.

“Well, at least you’re taller than me.” She whispered to him.

He could feel his face flush slightly as he continued to look at her, and so he turned his head away and looked forward, but slightly down to hide his eyes and his upper cheeks behind his long beige hair. He had never in his life spoken to a Princess, nor had he met or seen one so beautiful. He was speechless that this was the woman who was chosen to be his bride. If this was a joke, just to laugh at Kordoshi for his rough and isolated lifestyle, than it was a joke taken too far by the High King.

This can't be happening... it just can't be happening!... Not to someone like me... He thought.

Kordoshi had always been nervous around women, having been separated from normal society for so long. He had always been alone, having had his family taken from him as a child. The memories came back in a torrent of unpleasant visions and illusions. He involuntarily flinched at the thoughts, clenching his teeth and closing his fists as they shook by his sides. After a moment he was able to calm down, after he forced the memories away. He had to work very hard to stop a tear from falling down his cheeks as the image of his little sister walked in front of him as she had done the day before her death.

Kordoshi heaved a sigh as he finally gained control, and looked over at the Princess beside with a smile.

"I am pleased to meet you, Princess... I am far from perfect, but I hope that you'll be able to put up with me long enough for us to at least be friends." He said in an even and warm tone, his expression soft and kind.
