I laughed. "Hey! We're not in a fancy restaurant. But then, I don't do that in a fancy restaurant either. Anyway..." I drifted off, listening to Garvey talk about the pool.
"Well, I kinda didn't see the purpose of going to the pool if we're on the island in the middle of nowhere." I said, trying to change topics quickly. Making people uncomfortable is one thing I don't like to do unless they've annoyed me, and so far, Garvey hasn't done that. No point in putting him through torture then, though I wouldn't mind doing it to annoying cousins who aren't here right now, to my relief.
I eyed the window, looking outside. I think it's going to be nice outside, for at least a while. "I think I want to go to the library." I said out loud, in a strange, dreamy voice quite different from my normal one. Maybe Hunter and Garvey don't know me well enough to realize that my voice is different. I don't want any comments on it. "I need to find a new book to read." And it needs to be something that isn't work for college, since I have a whole lot of those books in my bags. And I don't want to open those, at least not today.
