Kari awoke to a bright Saturday morning. She had slept soundly, no nightmares, no evil little demons. Still, something told her that something was wrong. She shook her head, slapping on a smile, one that was actually somewhat believable. She had to try, for Remiel's sake if not her own. She sighed quietly, her father's voice drifting through her head.

"Weapon or Meister, you're never alone. You can't keep everything on your own shoulders. It just hurts the one you think you're protecting." She realized that that had been what she was doing. Trying to hide it wouldn't help any more than not doing anything would do. She smiled to herself slightly, getting up and getting dressed. Jeans and a t-shirt, she didn't need anything fancy to train in. She stuck a note on the door, letting Rem know where she was, and went out.

Training cleared her head, it always did. The chain part of her weapon form was swirling around her when she felt someone. At first she thought it was Rem, but she was wrong. There was a slurping sound.

It was a trade-mark sound. A signature, if you will. The signature of Soul Eater, before he was about to attack. And at first, nothing seemed wrong, but a split-second later, Kari's sub-concious realized that her father had never attacked her without warning first. Never a surprise. She turned her head slightly, and whipped one chain between her father and herself. Her eyes widened as she looked at her father. His eyes chilled her.

They were glazed over, like he wasn't even seeing her. "Dad?"
