Dawnsong
Dawnsong inclined his head.
"Greetings, Robin. I am called Dawnsong."
After the introductions were complete, Dawnsong took to the air and followed as Red Robin led the way to Manhattan on his motorcycle.
Manhattan
In the dim, flickering light of the lab's interior, unconscious bodies could be seen sprawled on the ground. Stepping over them, a figure shrouded in black and masked with a skull-like face made his way to the safe. Using a mysterious instrument, he soon had the safe open and lost no time in removing its contents.
"Good," said a voice in his ear. "Now you have the xenothium core you wanted. I fulfilled my part of the bargain. You will fulfill yours."
"Yes," said Red X. "What should I do?"
"Exit the building. Your colleagues are waiting there. The Titans have received a distress signal and will be arriving shortly. You will kill any Titans on sight."
"And if we fail to kill them?"
"You will wish you had." Click.
Red X snorted and shrugged his shoulders. He didn't really need this guy's attitude, but then again, it had been decent of his mysterious employer to give him the location of one of the few xenothium sources left in the city. Besides, by wiping out the Titans, he would be making his own job easier, thus killing two birds with one stone.
He made his way back to the street in front of the lab where Shyft was already waiting. They hadn't spoken much, both of them preferring to work alone. On this mission, however, they would have to cooperate to destroy any of the Titans that showed up. In addition to the two of them, there were gunmen hidden around the lab waiting for a crucial moment to catch a Titan off guard. Red X's employer had said that he merely wanted to judge the Titans' strength, but in Red X's view, any Titan unlucky enough to respond to the call here was pretty much dead.
A low rumbling noise drifted in on the wind.
"Here they come," said Red X. "Red Robin's bike, by the sound of it."
"And one in the sky."
Red X glanced up and saw someone swooping into view. He didn't recognise the costume.
"Must be a new member. Picked a bad day to join. I'll take Robin, you take the new boy."
Red X was already sprinting across the street. As Robin's bike came into view, he detached a couple of explosives from his belt and hurled them at the bike.
Dawnsong
Out of nowhere, two arms appeared and clamped around Dawnsong's throat, dragging him out of the sky. He struggled, but before he could get free, he was smashed into the ground. The arms scraped him along the bitumen and lifted him up again, but this time he broke free and saw his opponent, a young man whose arms were stretched to an impossible length. Dawnsong launched a fireball at him, but he slithered out of the way with an oddly liquid motion, his body flowing and stretching like it was made of wax. His torso spun around, driving his fists through the air like iron balls on the ends of a chain, striking Dawnsong on the chin.
Dawnsong flew straight towards his assailant, but before he could reach him, the man's body expanded like a snake's, wrapping itself around Dawnsong's body, clamping his arms to his sides. As the man's body squeezed, Dawnsong felt the breath being crushed out of his lungs. With a burst of furious strength, Dawnsong's body flashed red-hot, and an aura of flame surrounded him. The attacker released his grip, unable to withstand the burning heat. Lashing out, Dawnsong smashed his fists into the man's head, but his opponent's body had taken on the texture of rubber, and Dawnsong's fists harmlessly bounced off it.
