Nick held Analise tightly. He couldn't believe she was in his arms again. It was like the heavens opened up and said, "Nick, I forgive you of your sins. Welcome to paradise. Here is your angel."
Nick just smiled at Analise. "I never changed my mind. I was just confused. Everywhere I turned I saw you and yet you were never there to begin with. Every time I saw a little fire in your eyes and it vanished like nothing, I died a little inside," he touched her cheeks, damp with drying tears. "Nick was lost for three years. I'm back now. And we're back now," he chuckled a little letting himself bask in the moment. It felt like plates inside his body shifted and moved into the right places and what happened before didn't matter. What counted was the now.
"This relationship is not going to be easy. But I'm willing to work for it," he wiped her other cheek free of tears, "even if you're not."
