The young women gazed into the sky, there was party to be held that night in the honor of the marriage of the royal family. Nadia Saraphine chuckled humorlessly. A smile graced her naturally pink lips. It was all set up. Her plan was flawless. Beautiful really. She would act as a lowly civillian would, dancing, laughing, and spitting undeserved praise about the royal family. It would make her wretch afterward but it would be worth it. She would finally be able to taste meat again after all theese years. She hasn't had it in so long, her mouth began to ache for it. A feeling of shame rose over her as she thought about her fear of fire.
Marriage was lovely. The young woman sat on a broken log and clenched her fists. But marriage within the Noble family's couldn't be very happy. As a young girl she remembered when her mother would tell her stories of how princes and princessess had fallen in love and got married. Those were the most ironic stories of all. Royal families marrying for love? If it was true, Nadia smiled humerlessly, then she would stab herself in the leg. Hastily she scrawled a list of the things to steal for tonight. It was important that she took enough for a whole village. She had promised them. If she failed them, how could she look them in the eye?
Silently she put her cloak aside and unloaded all the weapons from her body. The soft worn fabric of the plain brown dress slipped over her head and she patted the dust away with her long fingers. Carressing the material, wondering where she had gotten it, Nadia put her swords to her long legs, strapping it securely in place. She had to be ready. Nadia Saraphine had never broken into a place such as this, fear pulled at her but she ignored it. Hiding everything in her special tree, she pulled her long hair into a loose braid, the way the common women did to keep it out of their weathered faces. It was time.
The Rogue was going to strike tonight.
