Mikuo was beginning to feel light-headed, due to lack of oxygen, but he was aware enough to register Ai pressing his lips onto his, trying to get him to start breathing properly. It was difficult though, and for a few moments Mikuo felt a vague kind of fear that he would transform. He knew that the previous Rat had suffered from breathing problems, and that they got worse when he was in his Rat form. Useless to think about now, but Mikuo had found that it was easier to cope with pain if he kept himself distracted.
He didn't really need to though, Ai seemed to be distracting enough, and he gradually felt the tightness in his chest loosen slightly. It still hurt a bit to breathe, but at least he wasn't hyperventilating. That was always a bonus. That, and the fact that Ai was technically kissing him. He wasn't entirely sure why that was a good thing though.
When Ai eventually pulled away, he managed a weak smile, "I'm...okay...", he said quietly, "...Thanks..."
