Nathan had been left to his own resources as he battled the creatures with the butt of his rifle, it was a loosing prospect and the beasts quickly overpowered him. One of the creatures was just about to deliver the final killing blow to Nathan's face and neck when a voice suddenly shouted from behind.

"No more."

The leader of the monstrous mob, who had once been Reverend Handcock, took a hold of Nathan and with his claws digging into his shoulders forced him to turn and face White-Owl and his two braves.

"You have fought bravely, but you must know that there is no hope for you now."

The two braves at White-Owl's side were still in their animal form. White-Owl came out from behind them and walked straight up to Nathan.

"Now you must die."

White-Owl then raised his left hand to reveal that he was beginning to turn into his beast-form, his fingers now elongated and thier tips razor sharp. Suddenly there came another command to desist, this time from the area where Jess had fallen moments before. Nathan turned around and peered through the break in the crowd of beasts to see Jess...Alive.

Sticking out from the ground before him was a freshly shot arrow.

The creatures cleared a path allowing Jess to walk right up to Nathan and White-Owl without being accosted. White-Owl looked at the other creatures and commanded them to leave the area, within a matter a few seconds the creatures had disappeared into the countryside.

Jess then challenged White-Owl.

"Let us settle this right now. My Grandfather was John Anler, commander of the garrison which slaughtered those 500 Indians during the Sawtooth Massacre."
