Darth Animosity’s reaction to his answer was not something that Captain Qualon had anticipated. The sith fell over and appeared to be unconscious and Qualon ran his hand over the sith’s neck trying to see if any vitals were still active. Helping the sith warrior to his feet, Qualon set Animosity to a nearby seat and updated into a reporting console, “Our guest has fallen unconscious. I believe that his majesty will wish to see him.”
Pellaeon on the other end answered, “See he stays there until his majesty arrives.” There didn’t seem to be any trouble yet, but hopefully this Animosity figure wouldn’t awaken rudely to cause any problems for the Devastator.
Qualon ordered into his personal intercom, “Get a med team here. Make sure that he maintains optimal vitals.”
The Jedi was far weaker than Anakin had projected when he summoned forth the lightning from his hands and into the Master. Having listened to his final words, he heard the one thing that he would have never imagined uttered from a Jedi. He knew of Anakin’s search for the great power that he had crusaded for so long and attempted to use it as a taunt. This much did not anger him, but his last words were more than enough bring him to rage and sought to strike him down at last. Before Ruan could let the force take him, Anakin thrust his light saber into Ruan’s neck allowing Anakin the chance to know that he had killed another object of his hatred.
He was uncertain if he noticed a trick in the Jedi Master’s dying words or if his hatred of the Jedi simply rushed him to this conclusion, but Anakin could feel that there was something hidden from him. Perhaps this Ruan did know the secrets that he had been searching, but Anakin was more than determined to continue his search. He would not let this progression in the force hinder his search and it would not change him from the one he was now.
Leaving Ruan’s corpse and traveling down the steps, Anakin found a communications console and used it to patch into the ground forces outside the city walls. Standing before him, General Ganos Tunwol saluted proudly having won the battle and reported, “My lord. The Dantari are in full retreat and have been decimated before even having a chance to scale the city walls. Casualties are at around 12,000 but the Dantari have paid their share for this futile rebellion.
Anakin questioned him of one of the primary objectives for this operation, “What of the leader on that front? Was it a Jedi like we anticipated?”
General Tunwol reluctantly answered, “Um yes my lord. However it would seem that in a rather spontaneous moment that the captain of the 409th regiment went against orders to capture him alive. He is dead I’m afraid.”
Not offering any words for the General, he ordered, “Bring him before me.”
Before long, the clearly defective trooper saluted to his emperor proclaiming, “My lord, the Jedi leader is dead and if –“ These were the last words before Anakin chocked on the captain with the will of the force.
As the captain struggled for life, Anakin sent him off, “You have denied my orders for the last time captain.” Possibly in the most merciful fashion he had for a defiant soldier, Anakin gave him a quick death as he snapped the trooper’s neck. Looking to the one who stood behind the captain, Anakin congratulated, “You are in command now Captain. Ensure that you do not disobey my orders on the field next time.”
The newly promoted trooper saluted to his emperor, “Thank you my lord.” Cutting off the communications, the Emperor continued to make his way further down the capitol building searching for any further resistance. He felt a severance in the force as someone died other than his Jedi Master opponent from earlier.
The Capitol building continued to be stormed by the dozen Dantari warriors who believed that they could somehow manage to defeat the entire interior army before being killed off. As soon as Anakin entered the hallways to see several stormtroopers holding their ground against several charging Dantari, the dark powers of the force were summoned into his light saber and thrown across the halls. It landed square in the head of one of the charging and just as quickly was pulled out for Anakin to begin his attack on the other Dantari who managed to survive. Jumping with the will of the force, Anakin sliced across one Dantari’s head and cut off the arm of another. The one that was still standing with its left arm cut off tried to move in further to attack the smaller pest, but several shots from the stormtroopers managed to put the defeated creature down.
With the Dantari dead, Anakin found the entrance to the capitol building main office was most likely the source of the disturbance in the force that he had sensed earlier. Indeed the Master Jedi wasn’t attacking alone and hoped to kill off the Emperor by perhaps lowering his guard at some point. Summoning the force, he opened the doors to see the work that had been done with the full presence of the dark side ready to aid him in battle if need be.
Entering the main office of the capitol building, Anakin looked around to see that damage that had been done between the two Jedi and Darth Angor. Summoning the force he observed Angor’s light saber in his hand and commented, “Not one of my best pupils. This at least rids me of one concern.” Turning his attention to the Jedi who were still standing before him, four Phase II Dark Troopers entered the room and brought their guns to attention should any harm be made towards their Emperor. Anakin gestured the Dark Troopers not to fire just yet and spoke, “Your rebellion is finished. Regardless of who planned it, all of you will pay for it.”
