It was still early as hell when Rei woke up; again. His eyes scanned the room, seeing the digits on his clock. Why he'd woken up when it was still dark he did not know. In fact, he stared at the ceiling for god-knows how long, not knowing at all what to do. His laptop was tucked neatly under his bed, and his body didn't seem to react to anything until he tried to get back to sleep. It was then the falling feeling he always got occurred, shocking his and making him fall out of bed, landing on the floor with the slightest thud. He looked around in alarm, before realising what had happened.

Annoying hypnic jerk. he thought, before looking at his scared dog, who was looking around as much as him. A small laugh left Rei's eyes as he hugged the dog, sitting there for a while, just breathing in and out, in and out. No nightmare could get to him. He'd had them for years. But the most recent ones were strange. Usually, his dreams were mother or step-mother related. But these ones felt like it was him, but he had no say in what was going on. It was blurry, and it wasn't positive. He knew what was going on; the speech was there, but dulled. Everything was dulled in those dreams.

But they still felt so real. Somehow.

How, he had no idea. Rei just sighed and rolled around a bit. He sat on the floor, trying to decide what to do. He could stay sat in his dark room, or he could go downstairs and try to speak to the others. Since option two was ruled out without another thought, Rei went over to the walk-in closet. He scanned the clothes there, before pulling on a white shirt, a cream jumper and his blue jeans. Stretching out, he wanted to just run up to a wall and whack his head against it. What should he do? The intense boredom almost overthrew all his other needs, such as eating and sleeping. Since those two were fulfilled, what to do now was the big mystery. He wouldn't mind doing more writing, but not all cooped up in his room. Staying like that forever would just be bad for his health.

Rei found himself still shaking, even throughout his sleep earlier. Maybe it was just the small interaction he had with the others. That was no reason to take his iron-pills or anything. He picked up his laptop, and it's charger, before heading down the stairs. He completely avoided the kitchen, letting his hair cover his face. He really hated weeks like this. For the whole week, he had two days off, and no double shifts. The other workers were worried about his sleep, so they called it his 'Resting week'. He did not want a resting week in particular. However, he couldn't protest, since no sound left his mouth.

The Atrium was his first choice to go to. It was by far his favourite room in the whole of Blanchett Manor. He plugged his charger in and sat on a chair. Sure, the charger was a bit stretched so it was lifted over the ground slightly, but it was okay. They were all in the kitchen, the people he knew were up at least, so no one would trip over it. He curled up in the arm chair, putting his glasses on as his fingers began flying over the keyboard, typing up the story. For once, Rei found it weird how he didn't even think about the story that time. Usually, he'd have some sort of idea what he was writing; it would spur from something he'd seen in the day. But right now, everything he was writing just came to him.

And when he reread it, it was completely and utterly insane. There was no base line behind it, and the story, something about two lovers rejecting someone powerful or something, was something he never would have thought of unless he'd been reading a book on something similar. So when he looked at it now, it was strange. Rei was going to trash it, just put it away and empty, but he left it in his computer's trash can, not wanting to press the simple button which said 'Empty Trash'. He didn't want to just discard of the story he'd been writing, no matter how unrealistic it sounded.

With a sigh, Rei stared at his screen. He was back to having no idea what to do whatsoever, and it was terrible. He just opened another Word document, an old one, and started writing again, thinking the characters through carefully. He'd left his USB upstairs, so all his really long stories, the ones he'd taken a shining to, were upstairs, in his room. He heard the pitter-patter of feet, and he ditched his laptop on the chair, running to the stairs. "Xander, I'm here." The dog was looking around, but he walked towards Rei in his calm state. His tail wagged happily and Rei smiled.

Xander was led into the Atrium with Rei's hand, where he sat on the floor next to the armchair in which Rei re-curled in. His fingers began typing away rapidly again, despite the fact he was yawning every couple of seconds. A sweet packet in hand, he popped the hard candy in his mouth every couple of minutes, making it the only break he ever had. It was at that point, after making a million spelling mistakes, when he decided he did need his iron-pills and this wasn't just a matter of him being cold or shy. But they were in the kitchen, along with the other people. Plus, it seemed the population of the kitchen had been raised by one. Standing up, he took a deep breath and made his way to the kitchen. Being anaemic and overly shy did not help, but he didn't feel the need to cover his eyes anymore. His glasses did that for him, somehow.

An awkward smile came over his face as he edged towards the fridge, grabbing his bottle of apple juice and the small container he'd sort of. . . hidden in the corner. He smiled at the other girl, Aina. She'd tried to speak to him before, but he was overly anxious. Talking to people always had that effect on him, and she was a really cheerful person. He felt like he'd kinda. . . killed her buzz or something. His smile was a bit more of a grin, before he took one of the iron pills and downed it with the apple juice. Obviously, he felt no sense of relief or anything. He was still around people he'd never talk to if possible.

Rei sipped on his apple juice, leaning on the wall by the door. He was taught never to drink anywhere outside the kitchen, so even when he was itching to get back to his computer, his dog, his safety zone, he stayed put. He could hear his phone ringing in his pocket so he ditched his apple juice on the counter before running back to the Atrium. He answered it quickly. "Mother, it's three in the morning." he said, clearly annoyed. His soft tone was still there, since his voice couldn't really get much louder, but even Xander could sense the anger as he sat down in the chair.

"I know you know it's three in the morning. . . Yes, I do know you have a clock. Look, can you call later? My phone's almost out of battery." he lied, and his step-mother could obviously tell. Judging by the fact she wasn't speaking as harshly as usual, she was with his brother, Sonzai. Before she could speak anymore, he hung up and switched the phone off. It was his day off; apparently he'd earned it, so he wasn't his time paying attention to his step-mother, the queen bee or whatever.

Sitting back, his hand stretched out to pick his laptop up and resume typing for a while, before getting distracted and lying on the floor, all cuddled up with Xander. He patted the dog cheerily, pulling his glasses off and letting his hair cover his face conveniently. A smile appeared on his face as he kissed Xander on the head, something he did a lot when he was tired. In his tired state, he was rather clingy and. . . dependant. Ever since reading Peter Pan, he'd thought of Xander as the responsible one. Which, in this case, he probably was.
