Bekah sat on a rock outside of the Student Center, staring up at it's tall doors looming over her. She wasn't sure exactly where she needed to be. Nobody had really cared enough to tell her, but she figured this was the best place to find out. She had arrived about an hour previously on her mother's private spacejet and was still in completed shock over it all. She had never dreamed that she would get to fly away from Earth, even with her mother a diplomat, although she had always dreamt of what it was like up in the stars. Of course, she had just scratched the surface. There was so much to be discovered, so many distant lands to be travelled. The thought of it almost scared her, but at the same time it made her thirst for more.

She stood up and took a deep breath. She assumed classes wouldn't start until the new students got settled in, but she wasn't sure how things worked in this strange new place. But she was determined to find out. After straightening out her skirt and tucking a stray lock of blonde hair carelessly behind her ear, she opened the glass doors and stepped inside. "Welp, here I go!" she said cheerfully under her breath, encouraging words that no one else here seemed to be thinking. She made her way over to what seemed like a front desk. "Excuse me, ma'am," she said politely.

"Yeah?" the secretary-type lady asked. "What do you need, brat?" She only looked like she was in her early twenties, probably just trying to make a buck. Bekah almost pitied her, even though her rude behavior was appalling. It couldn't be easy to have to deal with a bunch of kids around your age coming in and whining or trying to push you around.

"I'm sorry to bother you, but I just have no idea where to go."

The secretary jabbed her thumb to her right. "Go straight that way and turn left down the first hallway. Orientation is in the big room that says 'Orientation.' Now scram, kid. I've got things to do." With that, she looked down--Bekah presumed it was a book or magazine--and ceased to acknoweledge her existence. How nice.

But Bekah just shrugged it off and headed in the way she directed, towards her new school. Towards her new life.
