Freeze City Alleys

Gidon’s eyes were clenched tightly as a great pain stirred in his chest—more painful than the wounds that covered his body. It was guilt. His black muzzle rolled back, bearing the whites of his teeth as he ran—the snow hissing beneath his large paws. What a coward…he had been no different than Aury. At first, he had thought she was a traitor for bailing on them, but she must have foreseen the situation escalating into this. If they had stayed and fought to the end, and died together, then what would that achieve? Survival was priority and Gidon prayed to the gods that Elly and Tala were okay. The taste and soft texture of the pup’s fur was still on his tongue, and he could imagine her still in his mouth. He wanted to imagine that he had never put her down only to run off and leave her. She must have been terrified and loathed him.

Bowing his head, his pointy ears went flat against his skull as he quickened his sprint. It felt like there were numerous eyes on him. He needed to find a place to assume his human guise. The black wolf was unsure if it was wise. He would look just as beat up as he did currently, and it may attract unwanted attention from humans.

Please make it back to the pub, Elly, Gidon mentally pleaded. He hoped she had the puppy too. He didn’t know what to do about the red wolf he had seen. He was in bad shape. Gidon had smelled fresh blood and hopefully, he had decided to run too. He would need to ignore the pain of his injuries. If he wanted desperately to live, then he needed to do just that. If he survived until night, the moon would heal him. Gidon thought about searching for him later. He had his scent.

Open road and then down an alley.

Jessup had landed where Elly had once been and was right on her tail when she dashed for the wolf pup. Foam had gathered in the corner of his black jaws and his teeth were eager to sink into her pelt. She snatched up the pup and nearly shook him when she changed directions. Jessup’s paws slid across the snow and ice, his claws raking the asphalt for traction before he chased the white female. He chased her down an alley and watched her turn a corner. The Dutch shepherd turned down the same corner and lunged at Elly with a vicious snarl.

The illusion had no effect on animals, and it had only worked on humans. The animals saw the wolves for what they were, and if Elly wasn’t careful, the Dutch shepherd’s teeth were looking to lethally snag the pup from her maw.

Open Road

Mitsuhide felt his body hesitate and sharp teeth once again clamp around his leg. The Akita growled savagely, and whirled around to see the red wolf from before. He had thought at first that it would be the elusive female.

“I will rip you to shreds!” the Akita growled.

Mitsuhide lunged at Leto. He had every intention to tackle him with his weight and gnaw him so mercilessly that no one would be able to distinguish if he was a dead dog or raccoon.
