Cheshire
His ears twitched and he opened his eyes. Scardy cat? Did I hear that right? Slowly he pushed himself up and turned back and faced Rhia. He was about to give her mouthful of how wrong she was, but was caught off guard by her reaction. She was enjoying herself, which was strange. Was she pleased that Grey had cracked? He tilted his head. Her giggling could mean anything. He was used to her being quiet and fidgety, not so relaxed and..taunting? Was she actually taunting him? His pout slowly transformed into a small smirk. You little minx..
He let her comments slide, actually finding them amusing, regardless if it was at his expense. The girl had back bone that was certain, she needed to get in the habit of showing it more. He turned away and sank back into the cushion, starring at the odd couple who still were on the floor. His nose scrunched when he overheard Grey's dream of Jabberwockey and could stay quiet no longer. He let the two have a moment, but now wasn't the time to play nice. The boy would have to grow a pair and if Absolem wasn't able to help with that fact, he'd take it on himself. "You have a right to be scared, boy. Your dream could very well happen," Cheshire crossed his arms and locked his eyes on the child, glancing every now and again at Absolem. Irritation was present in his tone, but he didn't care, "The Plague is out there as we speak, corrupting and getting stronger. If you wish to survive, or for any of us to survive, toughen up. Do you think Jabberwockey is merciful? I made it back, but just barely. His power is.." His voice trails off as his mind slips back to the fight. Horrible..It's just horrible.. He shakes his head and returns back to the conversation, "Is unimaginable. So. if you really want to help, I need to know we can trust you. You are not my responsibility, child, but I will protect you. Will you protect us or will you crack?"
He let his speech sink in. He knew he was being harsh, but from what he saw of the boy, he needed it. Playing nice, pretending everything was going to be ok wasn't going to help any of them. He hated living a lie, and judging by the irritation in Absolem's face, he could see the Chain possibly felt the same way. He just hoped he didn't anger the Caterpillar too badly. He rests his eyes upon Absolem now, his anger and irritation used up, "I took refuge with the Duchess and luckily The Beast didn't follow me. Before I left I asked her to send word of Jabberwockey's freedom. Hopefully she did. We need to gather everyone and take The Plague out. As is, it'll pick us off one by one," He gazed around at the trio, he was completely serious, for once, not a crack of amusement ghosted his frame, "This isn't something that will go away and leave us alone. Abs, you know this. And as heroic and powerful and cool as I am, my claws and teeth only go so far. We need the vorpal blade." To tell the truth, the though of coming up against Jabberwockey both excited and terrified Cheshire. He had looked death in the eye and survived, not many come out of situations like that completely fine, but his Wonderland was at stake. Not just his child or himself, or the others, his entire world and he would fight for it.
