Jinsu Jung
Jinsu let her hair fall back as she stared up at her cousin. The pit of her stomach emptied when she realized tears were in his eyes. She looked down at the floor, eyes steely. She looked up to her cousin, taking in his words. She turned around and didn't look at him, worried he might find disappointment in her eyes.
"I'll...make sure to visit her (eventually) for now, let's just head to class. Remind me, what class do I have again?" At this she turned back to him, calm expression replacing her previous upset one. "I'll get back to you on that later," she slid her hand to his so that they gripped together at the elbows. Smiling sweetly, as other students were beginning to stare, she started forward. "We both have Algebra next. Then you have dance class and art," she pulled away from him, still walking and took out a yellow slip of paper folded crookedly at the center from being shoved into her backpack.
"Here is your schedule. Sadly, I only have two classes with you," she zipped up her bag and swung it back waving to a friend who passed by with a smile. "You're going to love Mr. Sung," she said sarcastically with a laugh. She switched back to her usual happy self hoping to soften JiEun's sadness and convert him to at least smile. She continued down the hallway looking back at her cousin every once in a while to make sure he was following her. Algebra was the third door to the left of the second corridor to the right. "Math," she mumbled. "Lovely math," sighing, she leaned back on her heels.
A couple of people waved to her and smiled, saying small greetings of good morning and hello. None however acknowledged JiEun which caused her some distress. Maybe people did forget him, she thought from behind her bright eyes.
