Open road

Tala was curled into a tiny ball as the white wolf ran with her. Her heart was racing with fear and her teal-blue eyes were wide, but all the ball of gray fluff could do was watch and whimper as Jessup snapped at her. His jaws, capable of ripping her in two, closing just inches from her tail.

Before she knew it, Tala was flying. The pup rolled when she hit the asphalt and let out a yelp of pain and surprise. She wasn't seriously injured, but being thrown and landing on the road didn't exactly tickle. Tala was a little slow to get up, she was starting to run out of steam. It was pure adrenalin fueled fear that got the pup back on her feet.

The she-wolf was yelling at her to run, but Tala paced there for a moment. Ellie had saved the pup's life more than once now. The pup was scared. Yet she didn't want to leave the white one. She didn't want to be alone. Images of Tala's mother, memories of the day she lost her, flicked through the pup's mind. It only added to her fear. The ball of fluff let out a pitiful bark at Ellie, one that trailed into a whine as she finally turned to run with her tail between her legs. "I'm sorry!" She cried. Tears welled in the pup's eyes and she returned to her human illusion as she ran.

The pup missed the end of the fight, but she was relived when the she wolf caught up to her so quickly. At least until she smelled the blood hit her nostrils. She was hurt! "Are you okay?" Tala asked a little breathlessly as she dropped back slightly to run next to the she-wolf. Tala didn't know how to get to the tavern Ellie spoke of before. She was relying on the larger wolf to know what to do now.
