The room was cluttered with laughter and the chatter of everyday noise. Nero peered around the room at his fellow captains, lieutenants, and soul reapers. “Who holds a celebration for capturing a traitor. This is a waste of time. We should be interrogating Kayasaki and strengthening our defenses.” There were so many unanswered questions regarding Jin Kayasaki’s betrayal, ability to obtain power and tactics no one new he could gain and his methods for gaining such a large force to challenge us in such a small amount of time. One thing Nero hated most of all is unanswered questions. This is the time to experiment and find out why we were so easily thwarted at every turn. “All the most powerful warriors in the soul society together and we needed a substitute shinigami to save us. Pfft pathetic, and the old man wants us to eat, drink, and be merry.” Nero’s train of though was interrupted by Mugen’s late arrival. Mugen apologized to the commander for arriving late and came up with some story about one of his subordinates to which Mika berated him stating he prolly just overslept. Nero began to contemplate scenarios which he could escape this prison of party and return back to his experiments when a deep clutching, overwhelming fear came over him. He turned to look towards the Captain Commander as he arose to begin one of his speeches. Nero hated the Captain Commander's speeches with a passion. Nero's face turned pale. His heart began to beat at a rapid pace. His mouth became dry, eyes widened, and his whole body began to shake with fear. Nero thought to himself, “oh God no, anything but that. Please do not let him give one of his ten hour long boring speeches. If he does I’m going to grab Ashido’s zanpakuto and cut off my ears.” Much to his surprise the head captain’s speech was rather short. A brief feeling of calmness and relaxation rushed through Nero’s entire body as he began to breathe easily knowing he did not have to hear one of the death speeches. Nero gazed around the room one final time to see the effects of alcohol beginning to take effect for many of his fellow captains and his mind began to slip away in a dream.
