Thomas held up his beloved as her strength failed her.
Orion soon showed up with the EMTs to help the both of them out of that hole.
First helping Charlotte out of the hole and into the back of the ambulance, Thomas stood at the edge of the hole, looking back down at the darkness.
"You coming?" Orion ask the diesel engine of the rugged old ambulance roared into ignition.
" Just a second.. There is one last thing I need to do." Thomas replied in a steadfast voice.
Digging into his pocket, he pulled out the mysterious silver ring he had been holding on to for far too long.
It was old, and badly gouged, and every time Thomas would hold it, it brought him such emotional pain that he had panic attacks.
Starring at the damaged old trinket Thomas Spoke "You belong down in that hole. I don't believe your treachery anymore.. Love is real! and it deserves to last forever!"
With these strong words Thomas held the ring over the dark pit.
But as he was about to cast it in, it began to glow.
The light was pale at first, but then began to glow brighter and even lift the ring up out of his hand.
Then a mysterious wisp of turquoise mist appeared and gently brushed across Thomas's face on it's way to the ring.
As it seemingly danced around the ring, the gouges, and scratched in the ring began to heal.
Thomas stood in awe, at the strange events unfolding.
Finally the Engraving in the ring was readable again;- "Love Forever" it read, as it slowly drifted back into Thomas hand.
" I understand..And I forgive you...Mother." Thomas whispered to himself as he clutched the restored ring to his chest.

"OI! get in the truck or walk, we gotta get this girl to a doctor." Orion ordered, Totally oblivious to the events that had just transpired.
As Thomas climbed into the ambulance, Charlotte smiled to see that he was back with her.
Thomas held her close and kissed her four head as the doors slammed shut and the ambulance raced off.
"I guess we're going back to the hospital huh" Thomas laughed as they rode down the old familiar roads.
Finally they were alone in a small recovery room, just two doors down from the room they shared before.
Thomas new this could be his last chance, before who knows what else could go wrong.
Sitting her down on the bed, Thomas took a step back and took a deep breath before speaking.
"Charlie.. I..This isn't how I thought this would go but.. There's something I must say."
Kneeling down, Thomas took her hands, and looked into Charlies eyes. " I love you Charlie.. I can't bare the thought of loosing you .. In any way.
I want you to be with me forever..But not as my Girlfriend."
Pulling the ring from his pocket, it shown with all the radiance it had in the cemetery.
"I want you to stay with me forever..As my wife. Charlie, Will you merry me?"
