"Next runners, please take your places."
With a confident twitch of her lips, Valencia sauntered up to the starting line, using her fingers to shake out her long, dirty blonde hair, before she quickly tied it back in a messy, high ponytail. Some loose strands fell in front of her eyes, which she blew out of the way as she prepared herself to run like she never had before. Through the crowd, you could hear many people cheering her name, and lots of guys whistled for her. Her eyes had determination set in them, and she wet her lips as the countdown began.
"On your marks, get set... GO!" And like that, Valencia was off, launching into a furious sprint that in a matter of seconds, had left all the other competitors far behind.
"And number 103 is off to a very strong start, unbelievable!" the announcer called through the loudspeaker. A small smile made it's way to Valencia's face as she continued on, not slowing down even slightly, but rather picking up speed and momentum as she went further. As she heard excitement pick up in the audience, she felt unstoppable, flying down the track. Before she knew it, she was nearing the finish line, and the noise from the crowd intensified. Valencia's face broke into a wide smile as she sped over the finishing line, many of the other runners barely halfway through the race. They all dropped to the ground in exhaustion, but Valencia showed no signs of weariness, instead she did a sort of strut skip down the track, flaunting her hips as she pulled her hair out of it's ponytail and flipped it back and forth. More guys continued to whistle, and she blew a few kisses to the audience as the announcer cheered through the loudspeaker. She grinned victoriously before turning around and jogging over to the other runners who all finished behind her.
"Hey, Amanda!" she called out to a girl who, once she saw Valencia approaching her, immediately turned and headed in the other direction. Valencia sighed in frustration and picked up her pace to catch up with the girl who stormed off. Sure, Valencia could appear very hoity toity when she won, which was constantly the case, but every time she tried to act decent towards Amanda, she just wouldn't give her a fair chance.
"Amanda," she called again as she came up to her side, "I just wanted to say you did a really great job, that's all. I'm really really impressed." she put a hand on her shoulder and looked her in the eyes for a few moments, giving a genuine smile, then jogged off before she could hear the snide response that she knew she would get. Some of the other participants in the race came up and patted her on the back, congratulating her. She thanked them and smiled before jogging off into the locker room.
