Walter had made several contacts in Linz and so he was fairly confidant that things would go along smoothly once they made it to town.

The jeep would stay where it had been parked as the three of them proceeded to walk down the main road. According to Walter's contacts the Nazi who had taken control over the town had been relocated to a small village just outside of Linz.

What a break for them, now they were free to just walk into the museum and steel the flag, then after they escaped with the prize they would burn it, simple.

This was the plan that Walter told this two companions as the three of them boldly walked down the street. The real reason why there were no more soldiers left in Linz was becuase the town was full of informants and collaborators, it seems as though had been mislead by his contact, this was certainly typical of Walter and Abigial's adventures.
