I took the weapon, Hiding it under my skirt. I looked out the window, and nodded. "You go get Brooklyn and go to the church, I'll meet you there." I go to gather my things, letting her out the back with the same black cloak I had let her use before. I grabbed a bag and put one other outfit in it, sneaking into the nursery and grabbing my little brother. "Lyle shh, you must keep quiet," I said as I rocked the little baby and set him in my bag. I'd leave him in another colony with a young wife and hope they would take care of him. I ran out the back at hearing my aunt and went straight to the church, waiting in the back near the door I hoped Abe would let us into. As I waited, I got nervous. Lyle was still sleeping, but if Amanda saw that I had brought him with, she would surely be angry.
After a few moments, I saw two silhouettes in the moonlight, and I prayed that it was Amanda and Brooklyn. I leaned against the door, waiting for Abe and the girls. I was praying that no one would notice that Lyle was concealed in my bag, and that no one would notice we were gone for a few days...at least until we crossed the border of my fathers domain.
