James Grey

James walked slowly down one of the many passageways of the ship, his head bowed slowly so that he was looking at the floor; or at least he would have been if his eyes were open. Anyone who had worked with him before would know what was going on, James was letting ARCHE run a thousand processes through his brain as Grey used his very own mind as a computer for his work. Since none of the people who had known him were onboard though it probably just looked like some shy guy keeping his head down or maybe someone sleep walking onboard the ship.

On the outside James looked just about as peaceful as could be, every muscle relaxed as he moved slowly without a clue where he was going. On the inside was another story, on the back of his eyelids thousands and thousands of points of data flashed around and moved as though they had a mind of their own. This was James’s storm, and he was right at the center of it letting all the information swirl around as he absorbed as much as he could. Every piece of data on how the ship was doing was going through his mind, all illegally obtained by his internal A.I. It was necessary though, without it he couldn’t tell if his prototypes were working correctly and if they didn’t work correctly the ship might very well go boom. James had been making corrects the entire time, compensating for minor fluctuations and problems that were showing up in the codes and issues with the installation. All things considered his little projects were working amazingly, especially since they had never been tested fully.

James stopped for a second as he looked up, his eyes opening for the first time since he’d boarded. He’d seen the whole briefing via a camera feed that ARCHE had tapped into but he hadn’t actually had any contact with anyone except for Lt. Commander Chen. That encounter had ended with her walking away and him getting carried away in the storm of people without getting to answer.
He touched his temple slightly and let out a sigh as he thought. It wouldn’t be good for him to be a loner here, he’d never been the best with people but he still needed to find some allies. At the very least he needed to make sure he didn’t make too many people angry with him.

Ben Owens

Ben let out a small sigh as he scooted himself out from under his fighter, he’d never seen anything so amazing before and it just took his breath away that he was the one who got to fly her. He moved quickly to wipe his hands down, bouncing at the balls of his feet as he always did. The thought of flying had him brimming with energy again and he couldn’t stop it, a small smile masked the flurry of thoughts within him. Even after all his training he still ended up accidently skipping the briefing to work on his fighter, he hadn’t even noticed that he did it. The moment they had let him on board the ship he had planned on being a straight shooter, he just happened to see his fighter out of the corner of his eye while he was walking through and just had to make sure everything was okay with her.

Ben looked her over again as he stood in the doorway, he couldn’t help but feel as though he was the only one who should be allowed to work on her. It wasn’t that the mechanics were good it was just that in the end it would be him out there in the fighter so it would be him who took all the risks. He couldn’t help but think that he should be the one making sure she was flight worthy also.

He turned on a pivot and headed out of the hanger, his arms at his sides and his back as straight as a board. No matter what anyone had every said he had to admit that the academy had drilled more than a little discipline into the young street racer that he used to be. He’d always be thankful to the military, they had let him get his life in order and they had let him do the one thing he loved to do. Fly. There were a few other perks though, food for instance. With that though Ben turned to head out of the hanger.
