She didn't want to kill people either, but she would cross that river when she got there. Maybe he would understand. Maybe he wouldn't. But she would find another way to get back up here, whether it be that she is allowed to or not.

"Is Lady Carmine in charge?" Elle added, remembering what he had said about a job they could do. Boy, wasn't she talkative today. Usually, you were lucky to get out a word or two. But she was pretty much leading this whole conversation now. She looked down at his hand that lay on her shoulder. She couldn't believe this was happening right now. Another scream echoed through the room, but all she did was shudder. She could prove she could withstand it. After all, if she was living in this place for the rest of her life, she might as well live up on the surface, and not in those dungeons.
