Faith smiled at Bergman's barely concealed distaste for the more mundane side of their job, she couldn't blame him preferring to leave much of the basic health care to the nurses, and nodded in agreement.

"Hopefully our nurses will be up to scratch and will take care of a lot of the basic health needs of the crew, as I for one have more important things to do than treat the common cold or patch up a bruised arm. Where possible you will be allowed to work on your specialist areas. In fact I would be interested in talking more with you about them as I have a personal interest in those areas."

She glanced around the room and noticed more than a few of the staff already in her, looking at her and Dr Bergman curiously, she sighed and decided she had better introduce herself. She glanced over her shoulder at Dr Bergan and grinned again.

"Once I have done the obligatory introductions I am going to tour the other three med bays, join me? We can talk more on the way. Besides it will be nice to know I'm working with someone more on my level."

She then focussed on the room again and cleared her throat. "Alright people pay attention." She waited until those present looked her way before continuing.

"As I'm sure you have already guessed I am Dr Mackenzie and I will be running the show around here. I'll make time to speak to you all individually once I have read your files so this is simply a brief introduction. I'm sure you all know what working in this department means, working long hours etc, and while you're here you will behave appropriately and provide the skills I am sure you all have. That said when you're not on duty I don't give a damn what you get up to and will probably join you in the bar on a regular basis.Once I have my office is set up free to come and talk to me, I'm fairly informal and do not insist on titles etc as long as e job gets done. That's about it of me droning on so on to the important bit. I would like a full inventory of our supplies, status and anything that needs replacing/repairing etc for this med bay." She glanced a young woman who looked competent. "Have it to me by tomorrow morning."

She then turned back to Dr Bergman. "That's that necessary evil out of the way, by the way call me Doc or Doctor as quite frankly Doctor Mackenzie is long winded and makes me feel ancient. Shall we?"

She turned towards the exit waiting for him to join her on her tour of the other medical facilities.
